Terre Haute North awarded grant to perform a musical
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— Terre Haute North Vigo High School was awarded a $10,000 grant, to perform a musical.
Students will perform a new and revised version of the musical 'The Unsinkable Molly Brown'. The revised musical is a rags-to-riches story about Molly Brown, a champion of women's rights, labor rights, and immigration reform.
Two local marching bands headed to state championship in upcoming weeks
The grant involved a nationwide competition application process, and Terre Haute North is one of several other schools nationally to receive this award. The performance will be held in North's auditorium, on May 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.
'We are very excited to get started with this show. It's been a long time coming,' said Michelle Azar, Director of Musical Theater and Choir Teacher. 'We've been working on it all fall.'
'I have an incredible support system with all of my friends,' said Jaiden Ellsworth who is playing Molly Brown. 'So it really is an honor to play such a memorable and strong women.'
'It's so not well known and it's great that we get to be the people to make it more well known,' said Zakk Massa who is playing J.J. Brown.
