Strictly pro Michelle Tsiakkas defends Jamie Borthwick after he was suspended by BBC and reveals pair are ‘really close'

STRICTLY Come Dancing pro Michelle Tsiakkas has defended her former dance partner Jamie Borthwick - after he was suspended by the BBC over an ableist slur. Michelle, 29, who placed seventh on the BBC dance series with Jamie, 31, last year, revealed how the pair were still 'really close'. 4 She told The Sun on Sunday: 'Whatever you saw on screen of our relationships together is what our relationship is like. 'We're like brother and sister, we're really close. He still actually messages me saying that he misses it. 'I saw him the other day, he remembered all of his routines, he was doing them again. I was actually so surprised.' Speaking at the National Reality TV Awards, Michelle added: 'For me, that counts more than any trophy because I feel like I had a positive impact on your life and changed it for the better - in terms of him finding this new found love for dancing. 'He's honestly so passionate about dancing. I can't believe it. He is trying to dance with everybody and do his routines with everyone.' It comes after Jamie was banned from BBC soap EastEnders in June after The Sun on Sunday revealed a video of him using a severely derogatory term. It saw him describe the people of Blackpool as 'absolute m**s' while there for last year's Strictly live show. Asked if she and Jamie chat in a Strictly WhatsApp group, Michelle said: 'We mostly talk just me and him so that is really nice that we still have a good relationship.' Speaking about the pressure that comes with the BBC series, she added: 'The show is about joy and dancing. 'It always needs to come back to that because it is such a special show. Fresh Strictly scandal as Jamie Borthwick & Wynne Evans blasted by BBC over shocking SEX TOY vid filmed in dressing room 'It's about having fun and not taking anything too personal and creating memories that last a lifetime, which they truly do.' 4

Strictly's Michelle Tsiakkas shares terrifying mugging ordeal on Good Morning Britain - and is stunned when Kate Garraway reveals her own phone was snatched with scathing swipe at police

Strictly star Michelle Tsiakkas has opened up about her terrifying mugging ordeal in London - and was left stunned when Kate Garraway revealed her own phone was snatched. The professional ballroom dancer appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the growing phone-swiping epidemic. Michelle had been walking to the dentist in Covent Garden one morning when her mobile was promptly taken out of her hands, despite the 'quiet streets'. The 29-year-old told hosts Kate and Ed Balls: 'I was on my way to the dentist. It was a new dentist, I hadn't been there before. It was early morning - around 9am. 'I took my phone out and, within about five to ten seconds of me taking it out, it was grabbed - gone.' A stunned Kate gasped: 'Wow,' before co-host Ed queried: 'Were you even thinking about phone safety?' 'I'm generally quite aware, I would say, as a person,' Michelle said. 'I look around me - but you can't predict these things. 'And this is why I would advise everyone to be super careful because even when you think you're well aware of your surroundings - these criminals are professionals. 'They come out of nowhere and your phone is gone.' The segment also featured a police officer who explained the protocol to follow in the event of having a phone stolen. But mother-of-two Kate was not impressed, and told of her own phone theft ordeal where she felt she had not received adequate police support. 'That has not been my experience,' she said. 'Is there something different to do if something is swiped off you physically?' The 58-year-old revealed she had had several phones stolen while living in London, and none of the thefts had been resolved. 'I've had phones stolen in London in a bag. I've tried to report it and they've said, "Do you want the insurance code number?" 'There was no sense that the police were going to come, look at the area and see where it might be.' In a separate video shared online, Michelle discussed the seemingly safe street in which she had her phone swiped. 'I was the only person around, so maybe I was an easy target,' she said. 'A man comes on a bike behind me, sweeps past me and grabs my phone. 'So he's grabbed my phone, he's on an electric bike, and my heart just sank. I tried to, I think, reach for it and that made me fall on my knees on the floor and graze my knee.' It comes as GMB viewers were left 'wincing' as Kate made a 'disrespectful and insensitive' joke at the worst possible time. A recent episode of the ITV breakfast news show saw the presenter with co-host Adil Ray, 51, report a particularly sad story to viewers. It was about British grandmother Yvonne Ford, 59, from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, who sadly died from rabies. Kate explained: 'Did you see this extraordinary story about a woman, she was scratched very slightly by a stray dog whilst on holiday in February, that long ago, in Morocco. 'It wasn't even a particularly bad one at the time. It didn't seem to be infected. Then two weeks ago, she started to feel very unwell, has now passed away.' Before making an ill-timed quip, she added: 'It's made people very conscious because rabies is something we don't think about very much. It is astonishing.' It came as she mentioned TV doctor Hilary Jones, 72, who often appears on the show for health and wellbeing segments. She said: 'I mean, what the doctors say, if I can do my Dr Hilary at the moment for a bit, is make sure you get an inoculation. 'But also, if you have any kind of scratch from any kind of wild animal or animal abroad, get treatments right away, because then it can be stopped.' Rabies - which is passed on through injuries such as bites and scratches from an infected animal - is nearly always fatal.

Strictly Come Dancing star 'traumatised' after being mugged in broad daylight

Michelle Tsiakkas was left 'traumatised' after her phone was stolen. The Strictly Come Dancing professional, 29, had been on her way to a new dentist in Central London early one morning when a man on a e-bike snatched her personal device from her hands and she tried to advise others to be 'super careful' when using phones out and about in public. During an appearance on Thursday's Good Morning Britain, she told hosts Ed Balls and Kate Garraway: "I was on my way to the dentist, it was a new dentist, I hadn't been there before, it was early morning around 9am. Took my phone out about about five to 10 seconds of me taking it out, it was grabbed." "I'm generally quite aware as a person, I look around me. But you just can't predict these things and this is why I would advise everyone to be super careful. Even when you think you're aware of your surroundings, these criminals are professionals, they come out of nowhere and your phone is gone." It comes as She added: "My advice would be if you want to use your phone, pop into a shop, send the message, come back out. This is what I do now after my own personal experience. I was quite traumatised, actually, yeah, because it's a shock. "You don't expect it, it's an invasion of your personal space. When it happened, I felt like I'd lost the strength the in my legs. I think I screamed at him as well. It was early morning, so these lovely two ladies came to help me out and gave me their phones."

Vanessa Feltz put on a dazzling display as she was awarded the prestigious Talk Show gong at the National Reality TV Awards on Wednesday. The presenter, 63, who accepted the prize for her self-titled Channel 5 show, joined stars at London's Porchester Hall for the ceremony. Vanessa, who has shared her hopes of finding love again after splitting from her ex-fiancé Ben Ofoedu in 2023, arrived for the event in a stunning pale pink gown with silver beaded detailing. The broadcaster proudly posed for snaps as she arrived for the ceremony, before heading backstage to show off her award. Other stars at the event included Strictly Come Dancing star Nadiya Bychkova, who showed off her jaw-dropping figure in a dramatic silver beaded dress. Fellow dancer Michelle Tsiakkas posed up a storm in form-fitting tiger print dress, as she and the other pros got back to work on the show this week. The presenter accepted the prize for her self-titled Channel 5 show, joining stars at London's Porchester Hall for the ceremony The broadcaster proudly posed for snaps as she arrived for the ceremony, before heading backstage to show off her award Love Island star Abi Moores was joined by her boyfriend Nathan Campbell, with the picture-perfect couple dressed in matching beige looks. Vanessa's appearance at the event came as friends rallied round her and vowed to find her a new man after her ex Ben Ofoedu claimed he 'wasted 17 years' in their relationship. The TV personality was set to marry singer Ben, 53, until reports of his infidelity were leaked to the press in 2023. Ben moved on with aesthetics expert, Vanessa Brown - whom he affectionately calls 'Vanessa 2.0' and they married in a lavish £100,000 ceremony earlier this month, And now pal Vanessa's pal Francine Lewis has revealed the presenter was feeling 'pretty blue' in the wake of his wedding and so she was vowed to find her a man. The singer, who starred on Britain's Got Talent in 2013, told Daily Mail: 'Vanessa deserves a man that will treat her like a queen not a door mat.' A close friend later told Daily Mail: 'Vanessa's been really strong - he [Ben] might be an ex but she still has a heart that got broken - he didn't hang about!' They added: 'Vanessa's got her girls rallying around her in support.' Fellow dancer Michelle Tsiakkas posed up a storm in form-fitting tiger print dress, as she and the other pros got back to work on the show this week The reality star was joined by her boyfriend, MAFS UK star Nathan Campbell, as the loved-up pair enjoyed a date night at the event Poppy Harrison, who had a short-lived stint in the Love Island villa this summer, set pulses racing in a revealing black thigh-split gown The blonde beauty was joined by co-star Caprice Alexandra, with both sadly axed from the villa following the show's sleepover twist Vanessa met Ben in 2005, when she was at the height of her broadcasting fame and he was a little-known pop singer – best remembered for his stint in Phats & Small. The couple quickly became a fixture on the celebrity circuit and within months were engaged, with Vanessa proudly introducing him to the public as her fiancé. She frequently featured him in her media appearances, from red-carpet events to reality TV shows, reviving his public profile and transforming him into a household name. But behind the scenes, cracks were beginning to show. Their relationship came to a dramatic end in 2023 after he admitted to cheating — a betrayal that left Vanessa heartbroken and publicly humiliated. Reflecting on his relationship with the former This Morning agony aunt, he said: 'Never again will I do that. I wasted 17 years of my life.' Ben added: 'I don't believe in long engagements any more. You don't want to get married if there's a question mark over your engagement. 'If you don't want to commit to someone, that's fine. But don't pretend you do and hold on to someone for a long period of time. Let them free, let them fly.' After undergoing therapy in the wake of their split, the DJ – who refuses to mention Feltz by name 'ever again' – said the torrid experience gave him clarity. 'I knew what I was getting into going out with someone that talks about their sex life on TV. What did I expect? It was great media attention for her. I went into it with my eyes wide open thinking it wouldn't affect me, but it did.' Meanwhile, Vanessa confessed that she still has hope of finding love again, despite admitting that it's a 'dating desert out there'. While she had a secret short-lived romance last year, Vanessa has been single ever since, now insisting it is 'impossible and agonising' to find someone new. Reflecting on Jennifer Aniston 's new relationship with hunky hypnotist Jim Curtis, the broadcaster admitted it had been a 'beacon of hope' to her that she would also find love again. exclusively revealed last week that Jennifer, 56, spent the Fourth of July weekend with life coach Jim, 49, with snaps showing the couple packing on the PDA onboard a yacht. Vanessa discussed the twice divorced actress' newfound happiness in her latest column for the Daily Express, where she lamented how tricky it was for women over the age of 45 to find a partner. She wrote: 'It's so tough, impossible and agonising to find a decent bloke these days. The apps are hopeless. It's a dating desert out there. 'I loathe this lament but also can't deny that these days, finding a man to love and be loved by is a huge task once maturity has kicked in.
