‘Big Brother 27' spoilers: Here are all of the Week 5 prizes and punishments, from the Veto winner to the hard-boiled egg costume
Gold Derby is serving up spoilers all summer long. Read at your own risk! Ava Pearl, the quirky houseguest responsible for endless Season 27 memes, finally has some serious power in the game. And she's using it to go after her biggest threats. More from Gold Derby 'Big Brother 27' spoilers: Week 5 Veto meeting sparks tears, drama, and tough decisions ahead of eviction night 'Big Brother 27' recap: Rachel becomes the No. 1 target in the 5th HOH competition At the end of Sunday's episode, viewers discovered that the 24-year-old aura painter and hammock lover from New York City had nominated Keanu Soto, Vince Panaro, and Zach Cornell for eviction in Week 5. She was debating putting up Ashley Hollis, but Ava's close allies Mickey Lee and Will Williams were able to correctly convince her that Ashley was actually a number for their side. "I just picked the people who I felt were the most shaken by me winning HOH, because it shows me that you don't trust me," Ava said in her speech, referring specifically to Vince, who was scurrying around like a rodent with a mustache. "I love you all, seriously. I don't want anybody to leave. But that's why it's called Big Brother, not 'Squatter's Rights.'" For the record, this marks Keanu's fourth consecutive week on the block, and the first each for Vince and Zach. Soon after the nominations ceremony took place, the eligible players competed in the fifth Power of Veto competition in the backyard, where multiple prizes and punishments were unleashed into the house. First things first, the winner of the all-important Veto medallion was ... Katherine Woodman! Katherine is currently weighing her options about whether to shake up the game with the Veto. She's leaning toward not using the power, because that would keep Ava's noms the same and simultaneously guarantee safety for Katherine's showmance partner, Rylie Jeffries, as well as her bestie, Lauren Domingue. Two other prizes doled out during the Veto competition were a $5,000 check for Ava and a trip to London for Will. As for the three punishments, Vince has to dress up like a hard-boiled egg and slide around on a stool all week long, Keanu has to be the house's butler and cook for the other players, and Zach and Rachel have to spend an all-nighter together. Even though Katherine is holding the Power of Veto, she isn't the only person with a potentially game-changing advantage that could affect Ava's HOH reign. Remember, Zach won a $10,000 prize in Week 1 that allows him to buy his way off the block. If he does so, then the Head of Household will have to name a replacement nominee. Stay tuned to see what Zach decides to do with his power. The next episode of Big Brother 27 airs Wednesday, Aug. 13 on CBS. Big Brother 27's Jimmy Reveals His Parting Advice to Rachel
Big Brother's latest evictee, Jimmy Heagerty, walked out the door after a staggering 9-2 vote and wild eviction episode – not to mention, a dramatic final toss of his fake designer sunglasses."This was a bad move," the 25-year-old strategy consultant exclusively tells Men's Journal about Head of Household - and ally – Mickey Lee's decision to orchestrate his eviction: "Mickey has numbers falling out of the house left and right, and she's setting the other side of the house up for success by letting somebody like me go." Still, it seems there are no hard feelings outside the game. "I love Mickey to death and hold nothing against her," he adds, though still questioning how this decision affects her long-term claims he might blow up some games on his way out, Jimmy chose to restrain himself. "I followed Rachel Reilly's advice: leave classy, not sassy," he says. 'I gave them one more sunglasses toss so they could remember me.' One relationship of his that evolved dramatically in the house was with former winner Rachel – the same person he wanted out night one of the game. "To know Rachel is to love Rachel," he tells MJ. "An incredible player and an even better friend… I trusted her the most in this game." He adds, 'She certainly repaid me for that in the last few moments I had in the house where she was definitely fighting to keep me to the bitter end.'And Jimmy didn't leave her without some parting advice. 'One of the things I told Rachel before I left is, 'Make them crown you,'' he says, knowing it would be tough for her to get the votes if she made it to the end again. 'If she earns it, she can get it and it's hers for the taking.'As for the rest of the house? Jimmy has thoughts—on Morgan ('overly paranoid'), Keanu ('abrasive behavior') and Ashley ('late and indecisive'). But he left the game with no regrets, saying, 'Would I play Big Brother again? Yes, yes, a million times yes.'Big Brother airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 8 p.m. ET. You can also catch the 24/7 live feeds on on Paramount+ and Pluto TV. ‘Big Brother 27' recap: Mickey makes new enemies, betrays close allies in chaotic Veto episode
Heading into the fourth Veto episode of Big Brother 27, Head of Household Rylie Jeffries had just been dethroned by Mickey Lee and her "HOH Interrogation" power. When Rylie took things personally, Mickey tried to explain how it was "just a game" that they were playing. (You'd think all the cameras and microphones would have tipped him off.) In Wednesday's jam-packed 90-minute episode, Mickey names her three nominees, and then the Veto competition and Veto meeting both take place. Who's got the popcorn?! Read on for our recap of Big Brother Season 27, Episode 13, which aired Aug. 6 on CBS. This season's theme is the "Summer of Mystery" and the house has been transformed into the Hotel Mystère, where secrets lurk behind every corner. The 14 players still in the running to win the $750,000 grand prize are: More from Gold Derby 'Big Brother 27' recap: History is made as Julie Chen Moonves shuts down a contestant's request to change their vote - 'No, no, no, no' 'MasterChef' recap: Which Dynamic Duo crumbles under the pressure in 'Macaron Mayhem'? Ashley Hollis (25): Attorney from Chicago Ava Pearl (24): Aura painter from Long Island, N.Y. Jimmy Heagerty (25): AI consultant from Sarasota, Fla. Katherine Woodman (23): Fine dining server from Gwinnett County, Ga. Keanu Soto (33): Dungeon Master from Miami Kelley Jorgensen (29): Web designer from Burbank, S.D. Lauren Domingue (22): Bridal consultant from Lafayette, La. Mickey Lee (35): Event curator from Jacksonville, Fla. Morgan Pope (33): Gamer from Palm Springs, Calif. Will Williams (50): College sports podcaster from Wallace, S.C. Zach Cornell (27): Marketing manager from Cartersville, Ga. We begin where the last episode left off, with Rylie seeing red (much like the bulls he rides) after Mickey took over his Head of Household reign. Meanwhile, Rachel and Ashley were still fuming over their earlier confrontation with Katherine, whom Rachel called a "bully" after she accused Ashley of appearing too happy during Rylie's terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. There's no smiling allowed, apparently! So, how will Mickey's newfound power shake up the house? It's time to find out. From One HOH to Another Rylie was able to calm down long enough to meet with Mickey one on one where he furthered his lie to her that he was not targeting her and her allies with his HOH. He remained pissed off that she stole his throne and warned her that there's other people that are bigger threats and going against her in the house. The silver lining of the experience was that the heightened emotions drew Katherine closer in to him on a personal level and their blossoming showmance gained new petals. In power for the second time this season, the "Triple Threat" alliance of Mickey, Morgan and Jimmy had a number of options to consider for Mickey's nominees. The obvious choices were those that voted to evict will last week so it was only a matter of deciding which three of Katherine, Rylie, Kelley and Keanu would have the pleasure of seeing the block. After volunteering to be nominated for the first three weeks of the game, Kelley attempted something different with Mickey -- she asked to not be nominated out of respect for it being her birthday week and swore that she wouldn't change the noms if he won the Power of Veto. Despite being so upset over losing his chance to see pictures of his family, Rylie attended the reveal of Mickey's HOH room and then tearfully apologized to her for the way he spoke to her. Once their amends were made, Mickey asked him to go on the block "as a pawn" with the intent of beating Keanu for the POV so that they can finally evict him. At the nomination ceremony, Mickey followed through with putting Keanu on the block as her chief target and named Rylie and Kelley as apparent pawns. Kelley took her fourth straight trip to the block very hard, requiring the rest of the houseguests to gather around her with hugs as she sobbed at the table. From One Comp Beast to Another After conversations with both Rylie and Kelley about how she wouldn't want them to win the Veto on themselves (crazy, right?), Mickey gained a boost during the player selection meeting when Kelley hand-selected Rachel and then Morgan was drawn as the sixth player. For the comp, "Flee the Scene," the players had to navigate a series of tiles where only half of them were the correct path. The comp was played in a tournament of head-to-head matchups until only one winner remained. In the first round, Keanu defeated Mickey in 2 minutes 49 seconds. In the second round, Rachel defeated Morgan in 2 minutes 32 seconds. In the third found, Rylie defeated Kelley in 2 minutes 54 seconds. Because she had the fastest time of the first three rounds, Rachel automatically advanced to the final round against the winner of Keanu vs. Rylie. In that fourth round, Keanu knocked Rylie out after Rylie wasted precious time stepping on to the same exact incorrect tile multiple times. In the final round, Keanu officially dethroned self-anointed comp beast Rachel by defeating her and earning his third POV in a row. Following his win, Keanu noticed that none of the houseguests were cheering for or congratulating him, something that has become standard game etiquette even for your enemies. Out of frustration, he turned to the comp host Ava and said, "I believe you have a prompt," in order to move the process along, but Ava did not take kindly to the statement. Instead she accused him of talking down to her because of the way she dresses and then strutted over to him and handed him the medal with an off-prompt congratulatory "there ya go." Later they both apologized to each other for speaking outside of how they normally would, acknowledging that tensions are high and getting the best of them. The Faux Alliance Wanting to play both sides of the house, Jimmy proposed a "faux alliance" with Kelley, Keanu and Vince after Adrian's eviction with the objective of going against the tight trio of Ashley, Morgan and Mickey. He solidified that again with Keanu as a way of supporting him after the nomination ceremony. Due to Keanu's win, Mickey was facing the undesirable position of having to name a fourth nominee for the week. Rylie was able to get through to her about not nominating Katherine, an act that Mickey agreed would be bad for her game because it would just piss him off and focus the wrath of the other side of the house against her. Later Rachel told Mickey that Katherine would be a waste of an HOH reign and instead asked her to consider Vince because he's playing the middle and has shown a lot of sway over the game. Mickey considered it because it would be drawing a new line in the sand (bad) while potentially improving her position in an alliance with Morgan and Zach (good). When Mickey was straight-up with Vince that he's in the pool of players she's considering as a renom, he realized an opportunity to change that by informing her, Morgan and Zach of the faux alliance that Jimmy formed with Keanu and Kelley. He angled it as a serious conversation that Jimmy started to ensure his own safety with the other side of the house and emphasized that he "probably doesn't want to win HOH soon" in order to maintain his spot in the middle of the house. They had Vince's tea confirmed by Keanu later and added that Jimmy specifically wanted that new alliance to target Mickey and Morgan. Knowing Jimmy is prone to explosive Veto meetings, Mickey gave him an 18-minute heads up that his name was thrown around heavily all week. She said that it's made her question whether he truly puts their alliance ahead of everyone else, but he insisted that he's "honestly shocked" that she's even considering it and pleaded that always had the "Triple Threat" trio at the top of his priority list. At the Veto meeting, Keanu removed himself from the block and Mickey named Jimmy as his replacement. She called it a "battle with [her] mind and [her] heart" and said that she "honestly don't respect" his game anymore. Ultimately, Mickey thought that Jimmy needs to be taught a lesson and hopes that he's the one to be evicted this week. She chose not to nominate Vince because it would hurt her relationship with Morgan, but the decision to do Jimmy instead may just tarnish her relationship with Rachel and certainly with Jimmy if he finds a way to survive the week. ‘Big Brother 27' recap: History is made as Julie Chen Moonves shuts down a contestant's request to change their vote — ‘No, no, no, no'
Heading into the fourth eviction episode of Big Brother 27, Head of Household Mickey Lee had just announced that Jimmy Heagerty was her official renom. Her fellow "Triple Threat" alliance member was gobsmacked, as he never intended to go after her or Morgan Pope, despite getting caught playing both sides of the house. But with the BB Block Buster competition still on the line, it was anyone's guess as to whether Jimmy, Kelley Jorgensen, or Rylie Jeffries would be evicted live on Thursday night. Read on for our recap of Big Brother Season 27, Episode 14, which aired Aug. 7 on CBS. This season's theme is the "Summer of Mystery" and the house has been transformed into the Hotel Mystère, where secrets lurk behind every corner. The 14 players still in the running to win the $750,000 grand prize are: More from Gold Derby 'MasterChef' recap: Which Dynamic Duo crumbles under the pressure in 'Macaron Mayhem'? Zach Cornell (27): Marketing manager from Cartersville, Ga. We begin where the last episode left off, with Mickey having to name a replacement nominee after Keanu removed himself from the block for the third week in a row. Mickey was debating between nominating Vince or Jimmy, but ultimately went with Jimmy after learning that he was schmoozing up to the other side of the house. Before tonight's episode is over, either Jimmy, Kelley, or Rylie will be having a face-to-face conversation with Julie Chen Moonves. Let's go! #ButFirst Mickey's bold move of nominating someone from her own side of the house did not initially sit well with her allies Rachel, Will and Ashley who all agreed that it was less bold than it was dumb. It was apparent to all of them that Morgan and Vince manipulated Mickey's decision-making and that they essentially put a target on her back with people that previously trusted her. Ashley and Will felt particularly isolated from Mickey's decision, but that didn't stop them from seeing if they could find the six votes needed to save Jimmy over Kelley or Rylie. With their two and Rachel's one, they only needed three more. Zach told them that he was "waiting to see how it pans out," but heard their argument that Jimmy is "ostracized" compared to Kelley who can't be controlled by them if she gains power. Jimmy wasn't aware that Vince played a big part in getting him nominated so he had no qualms telling him that he trusts him and asking for his vote this week. Jimmy's pitch was that if he helps save him then it would build favor with Rachel and Ashley in future weeks. Vince has been coming for Rachel since the start of the game and believes that getting Jimmy out weakens her, but he understood the benefit of potentially getting her on his side instead, too. BB Block Buster The three nominees competed in "Safe Crackers" for their last chance to save themselves from the block. To do so they had to maneuver three balls through a tipping maze and place them in three marked spots quicker than their opponents. Rylie sank his first ball quicker than the other players and then managed to a full ball ahead of Jimmy and Kelley, scoring his third and final one in the same moment that Jimmy scored his second. In the moments after learning that Rylie won, Rachel got into the ears of Will, Ava, Ashley and others in an attempt to convince them that they have the votes to save Jimmy and vote out Kelley, but Ava was adamant that Jimmy didn't have the votes to stay. Kelley pitched to the house that she hopes they keep seeing her as good enough for their game to keep her. Jimmy got emotional while invoking the names of his family and asking that the houseguests give him the chance to continue to live out his dream in the house. Live Eviction From the Diary Room, Morgan, Rylie, Keanu, Katherine, Vince, Will, Ava, Zach and Lauren all voted to evict Jimmy. Rachel confidently voted to evict Kelley and on her way out persuaded Ashley to also vote to evict her, but when Ashley later saw Will in the hallway, she realized that she made the wrong decision. Ashley re-entered the Diary Room in an historic attempt to try to change her vote on live decision, but Julie promptly denied her request by saying, "No, no, no, no." Officially, Jimmy was evicted by a vote of 9-2. In his exit interview with Julie, Jimmy learned that Rachel and Ashley were the votes to save him, surprising to him that one of them wasn't Katherine. He explained that he thinks Mickey used her "perception to define [his] intention" and was ultimately left guessing at his intent because she never gave him a chance to defend himself. In the end, he blames Morgan more than Mickey and told Julie that he feels more betrayed by Morgan overall. He reiterated that he "would have followed them into the sun" by remaining loyal to the end with the "Triple Threat" alliance. He closed by saying that Zach, Vince and Morgan are "running circles around" the rest of the house and running the game.
