Hull car park hosts premiere of new play exploring road rage
A new play about road rage will be premiered at a car park in Hull city centre on Saturday.'Biting Point' is being staged outdoors on the top floor of the Fruit Market multi-storey car production, by Middle Child, encourages the audience to be kinder to each other and features a purpose-built set and headphones for the Paul Smith said: 'It's all about the things that make us angry in the world today and how we can overcome those things in order to still be good people. We really hope that people enjoy coming up here, seeing a piece of theatre, whilst also enjoying the beautiful vista of Hull." The script is written by Sid Sagar and tells the story of supermarket driver, John (played by Marc Graham) and property manager Anita (Katie Singh). They spend their working days in Hull's endless traffic until one day, tensions erupt and they collide on a busy roundabout. The storyline asks questions about class, race and anger in Britain today. Designer, Bethany Wells, said creating the outdoor set for the car park, had been interesting."It's lovely being on the top floor with the views of the city. "We've created like a roundabout - like a traffic island for the stage - so there's this feeling that we are all circling this island, which is this stage in the middle. "Everyone is seated and watching the action but the soundtrack will take them to various journeys across the city.""When I saw it in the sunset and looking out with the sun streaming through and everyone in silhouette over the city, I thought this is going to be really special."Biting Point is performed in Hull on 10 May - 18 May, before going on tour in June.
