Police charge man with manslaughter after fatal crash in Perth suburb Forrestfield
A man has been charged with several offences including manslaughter after an alleged police pursuit and a fatal crash in the eastern Perth suburb of Forrestfield overnight.
Police said a white Nissan Navara utility collided with a blue Ford Falcon station wagon at the intersection of Hale Road and Tonkin Highway shortly after 10pm on Wednesday.
It is alleged the driver of the utility failed to stop for police prior to the crash.
A man in the station wagon died at the scene, while a female passenger was injured and taken by ambulance to Royal Perth Hospital.
A 26-year-old Middle Swan man is facing a series of charges including manslaughter, reckless driving to escape police, dangerous driving causing bodily harm and no authority to drive.
He was also injured and taken to Royal Perth Hospital.
He has been refused bail and is due to appear in Midland Magistrates Court today.
Major crash investigators are urging anyone who has information, or who saw any of the vehicles involved in the area before the crash, to contact Crime Stoppers by phone or online.
They are calling for anyone with dash-cam or mobile phone vision relating to the incident to come forward, saying the vision can be uploaded online.
