Hip-hop and graffiti meet rural Iowa at Middle of Nowhere fest
Drive down a gravel road and past fields of corn, and you'll find yourself surrounded by hip-hop music and graffiti artwork at a unique rural festival. Why it matters: The Middle of Nowhere Rural Art & Music Festival showcases music and art, spotlighting the growing diversity in Iowa's often overlooked small towns. State of play: Huxley artist Siriaco "Siricasso" Garcia launched the festival last year in Madrid, Iowa, at The Cellar Winery. Siricasso is known for his murals and arts advocacy across the state, including at Hoover High School and Highland Park. He recently won the governor's emerging arts leader award. How it started: Siricasso worked as an artist in Ames with his wife and kids, but in the city, he found himself "begging" for mural art projects to do. His turning point was when the furnace went out in their mobile home four years ago and it was so cold, the walls started icing over. They moved to Huxley for more affordable housing. Within a year in Huxley — a town of 4,600 people — he'd gotten four mural opportunities. "They showed a lot of love," he says. Details: His art pays homage to Chicano aesthetics, utilizing bold lines and many of the cartoons he grew up with in the '90s. State of play: Siricasso has now painted more than 40 murals in Iowa and works as a full-time artist, regularly booking jobs across the state. He intended the Middle of Nowhere festival to be a way to help people of color in rural areas feel connected. But he also wanted to encourage people in cities like Des Moines to open up and go somewhere they normally wouldn't go. "When you think of rural, you don't think of hip-hop or graffiti — you think of just like country, folk, stuff like that," Siricasso says. "We're bringing that out there and letting people know that we're now here."

Susan Sarandon's daughter Eva Amurri reveals why she was 'scared' of going for a boob job
Eva Amurri was "scared of the judgement" that would come with getting a boob job. The 40-year-old blogger - who is the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon and her former partner Franco Amurri - feels "amazing" after having a breast reduction, but admitted that it took her years before she plucked up the courage to actually go under the knife. She told PageSix: "Oh my God, I'm so happy. I feel like they've never looked this good in my entire life — even when I was 18. "It's so freeing and amazing to feel so comfortable in my own skin, to really look at myself and see myself proportional for the first. "I wanted it for 20 years but because I was scared of judgement, I gaslit myself into thinking I didn't have to feel totally comfortable in my body." But the 'Middle of Nowhere' star - who has Marlowe, 10, as well as sons Major, eight, and five-year-old Mateo with her ex-husband Kyle Martino - celebrated her milestone 40th birthday in April, and as she prepared to marry Ian Hock last year, she decided that she "deserved" to look the way she wanted. She said: "I turned 40 last month. And I thought to myself… You know, in the months leading up to my wedding, you know what? I'm turning 40 next year. I deserve this. I deserve the thing that I've been wanting to do for a long time." Her comments come just days after 'Thelma and Louise' star Susan - who also has Jack, 35, and 32-year-old Miles with Tim Robbins - recalled "dragging her kids all over the place" at the height of her career and while some of it might have been "awkward" at the time, she knows that they appreciate it all now. When asked what sort of legacy she wants to leave behind for her children, she told 'Entertainment Tonight': "That makes me cry because I can't think about leaving them but one of the things about being in this business and dragging your kids all over with you is that they're very flexible, and they're not afraid of other cultures. "Their bubble has been very big and sometimes it was a little awkward because there was no picking up at school or whatever but at the end of the day, they look back at it now and they're grateful for it."

Hanson singer Taylor, 42, shocks fans as the father of SEVEN reveals his eldest daughter Penny - who band's hit song is written about - turns 20!
Hanson's lead singer Taylor has shocked fans by revealing his daughter is now 20-years-old. The musician, 42, shared a sweet selfie with his daughter Penny, who the band's hit song Penny & Me is written about. Taylor looked effortlessly cool in oversized blue shades and a T-shirt, with Penny smiling alongside him during a recent family holiday. Taylor shares seven children with his wife Natalie - sons Ezra, 19, River, 15, Viggo, 13, and Indiana, 3, and daughters Penelope, Wilhelmina, 9, and Maybellene, 18 months. And fans were stunned to learn his eldest has turned 20 this week, with one penning: 'Who else is feeling old?'; '20?! Howww'; 'Penny is 20???! Gosh now I feel old Taylor - can still remember you announcing that she was born!! She is gorgeous, just like her mum & dad! Happy Birthday Penny'; 'Oh my goodness... I just... I feel VERY old now lol. Wasn't she just 3 yesterday? HAPPY 20th Birthday'; 'Oh my penny love that song and HBD lovely penny' Speaking to People magazine earlier this year, Taylor shared his kid's relationship with music. 'You definitely see the way they reflect on what it is to have a musical family,' he said. 'You also see that people are going to be who they are. I have some that are extremely like, 'I want to be on stage. I want to be a drummer. I want to play music.' 'One of my boys said at one point, 'You know, Dad, I think I want to control the musicians, not be one.' I was like, 'Okay, that's scary.' Future manager,' the musician further said. 'Even though we're parents, and we've seen our kids get older, we're doing many of the things that we were doing back when we were teenagers, and they've seen that,' he continued. 'Especially with my older kids, they've really seen what it means to go on tour. They know that it's going to be a lot of fun, for sure, but it's a lot of work. Hopefully they get and appreciate that side of it,' Taylor added. US band Hanson - made up of three brothers Isaac, 44, Taylor and Zac, 39 - are best known for their 1997 hit song MMMBop from their debut album Middle of Nowhere, which earned three Grammy nominations. When Hanson rose to fame as teenagers, they were known for their long hair, baggy clothes and energetic performances. Today, the long blonde locks are a thing of the past for some members of the bands and they have grown into their looks. The brothers previously reflected on their stardom in a 2022 interview with People and shared that they felt they were 'lucky that we've always been a little bit of an anomaly' when it comes to how they came together to form a family band and make music together. 'To be brothers who don't fight that much and who share a dream, that's unique,' Zac shared. 'We've been a band for a long time, and a lot of people go, "Wow, you're normal," because the industry has a way of leaving its marks on people. But we just always had a really strong sense of place.'
