Costco Recalls Several Items That Pose Risk to Customers

Costco regulars may want to dig up their old receipts. The wholesale and retail giant has announced a recall of over a dozen items, some of which pose potential danger to its customers. Included in the recalls are a couple of Anker power banks, Danby and Midea air conditioners, Bridgestone and Michelin tires, and BowFlex dumbbells. Two Anker power banks, model A1257 and Powercore 10000 Power Bank model A1263, are among the items recalled. The China-based electronics company detected issues with the lithium-ion batteries used in both models, posing a "potential fire safety risk." The recall comes after several reports of Anker products exploding, causing minor burns and even property damage. Six models of U-Shape Window AC's from Midea and one model from Danby 8k were also recalled. The recall notice cited the air conditioners' failure to drain quickly enough. The pooled water due to poor drainage could lead mold growth, which poses "risk of respiratory issues and some infections" to consumers. Specific models of Bridgestone Blizzak 6 Tires and Michelin Agilis CrossClimate C-Metric Tires were recalled for failure to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139. BowFlex 552 adjustable dumbbells were also recalled due to reports that weight plates can fall off the handle while in use. The aforementioned products comprise half of Costco's full list of recalled items, which includes Segway and Sublue scooters, Topo Chico water bottles and Kirkland cold medicine. All items can be exchanged for a replacement, or the customer may request a full refund. Costco has been taking some hits lately, including poor reviews for the store's new $16 Recalls Several Items That Pose Risk to Customers first appeared on Men's Journal on Jul 7, 2025

I Worked Up A Sweat Finding The Best Prime Day Air Conditioner Deals—And They End Today

Amazon Prime Day is an excellent time to invest in new home appliances, but the four-day sale ends today. I've spent many hours over the last three days rounding up the best Prime Day air conditioner deals with the urgency of someone whose own AC was broken. So it bears saying: While the prices remain hot, this is your last chance at scoring any of these Prime Day AC deals. I found that many of our favorite models—ones which we've included in our roundups of the best air conditioners—are still on sale. For example, the Midea Duo Inverter Portable Air Conditioner, which we awarded the best portable air conditioner overall, is $100 off right now. Our top value window model, the Midea EasyCool Window Air Conditioner, is just $150. You can also score $70 off the popular SereneLife SPLAC10 Portable Air Conditioner, our choice for the best value portable model. From now through July 11, you can save up to 32% off some of our favorite air conditioning units. Illustration: Forbes / Photo: Retailers The bottom line: I found a bunch of air conditioners discounted for Prime Day that will very likely suit your space and needs, and along with other Forbes Vetted editors, I've done copious research on pricing history and the quality of the units themselves. Many of them are featured in our stories covering the best portable air conditioners and the best window air conditioners. Read on to find the air conditioner that's right for you before the clock on these deals runs out. It's just the right size for rapidly and reliably cooling a single room, such as a bedroom or home office. Why It's A Good Deal: This is $10 lower than the lowest price we've ever seen on this unit. This sleek window unit from Midea is priced at an all-time low, making it a great deal. The design not only blocks noise, but still allows you to open your window—rare for a window air conditioner. It's Wi-Fi enabled, and you can use voice control to operate it, too. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the lowest price we've seen on this model. This window unit is priced at an all-time low on Amazon—you can currently save $62. It can cool rooms up to 350 square feet, and is designed to be extra quiet. Features like multiple modes and wireless control help make it easy to use all summer long. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the lowest price we've seen for this model. While comparable to the Midea window unit above, this model from Whirlpool is better equipped for slightly larger rooms: It features a bit more power at 6,000 BTU (compared to 5,000 BTU) and can cool spaces up to 250 square feet (compared to 150 square feet). It also comes with a remote, and you can set a timer to automate when it turns on and off. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the lowest price we've seen on this model. Offering 12,000 BTUs of power that cools rooms as large as 550 square feet, and the ability to function as a supplemental heater in winter, this air conditioner from Midea is incredibly strong and versatile. Plus, it can function as a dehumidifier or fan. It comes with three speed settings, an easy-to-see LED display, a 24-hour timer and a dedicated energy-saver mode. While it does include a remote control, you can also connect it to an app on your phone to control the settings from anywhere. Why It's A Good Deal: This matches the lowest price we last saw on this model when it dropped temporarily. This Whynter model uses a dual-hose system that pulls in external air and pushes warm air outside to more quickly cool down your space. It has enough power to handle medium-sized rooms but doesn't take up as much floor space as designs with similar specs. Why It's A Good Deal: This model dropped to $416 last Prime Day, and this is the best price we've seen in 2025 so far. We're seeing a relatively small discount on our favorite portable air conditioner, but it's still the lowest price we've ever noted for such a popular model. This machine is smart, efficient, versatile (it can also dehumidify and heat) and surprisingly quiet, which makes it a great option for areas like bedrooms or a home office. It takes up a bit more floor space than some of our other picks and requires a smartphone app to get the most use out of its controls. Why It's A Good Deal: This matches the lowest price drop we've seen for this model. If you're looking for a simple, streamlined cooling solution, we recommend the SereneLife SPLAC10. This lightweight model is easy to set up and works quickly to cool your space. It doesn't have any extra smart features and it's most effective in smaller rooms (around 270 square feet). Why It's A Good Deal: The model briefly dropped below $300 in April, but this discount is otherwise the best price we've seen since February. MOST POPULAR Designed to cool spaces up to 300 square feet, this three-in-one design can be used to cool, dry or act as a fan. Its temperature ranges from 60 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit, and it comes with an exhaust hose and window sealing kit. Handily, you can connect to the machine through your smartphone to control the temperature levels and timed settings. Shinco makes one of our favorite dehumidifiers too, so we know it's a reliable brand in the appliance category. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the first discount for this model that we've seen on Amazon (though the machine's price history is limited to a few months). This is the lowest price we've seen on this Midea portable air conditioner, making it a great deal if you need a portable AC that doesn't attach to a window. It can cool spaces up to 150 square feet and offers three modes: cooling, a fan mode and a dehumidifier mode. You can easily control it with a remote, too. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the lowest price we've seen on this model. Equipped for spaces up to 450 square feet, this compact portable air conditioner is ideal for living rooms, offices or bedrooms and can be wheeled from room to room. It features cooling, fan and dehumidifier modes—for the latter, you'll have to attach an included drain pipe—as well as a sleep mode for quiet operation if you leave it on at night. It also comes with a remote so you can control it from a distance. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the first time we've seen the price drop on this model. This powerful and multifunctional air conditioner cools down rooms up to 350 square feet and can also be used as a dehumidifier and fan. A easy-to-remove washable filter makes it easy to keep it running in tip-top shape all summer long, and wheels make it a breeze to move around. It also has a 24-hour timer option. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the lowest price we've seen in over a year. This compact air conditioner is easy to move around, doesn't take up much floor space and cools rooms up to 300 square feet. An app allows you to seamlessly connect to the unit so you can control it from just about anywhere. It also includes a window installation kit, plus dehumidifier and fan options. Why It's A Good Deal: This is the lowest price we've seen on this model since January.
