#SHOWBIZ: Miera Leyana: Stop airing your ex-husband's dirty laundry and move on
KUALA LUMPUR: "Enough with airing your ex-husband's dirty laundry. There's no need to gain people's sympathy by using my name."
This was the reaction of actress Miera Leyana, 31, when asked to comment on the ongoing court case involving her husband, entrepreneur Rosland Othman, 52, and his former first wife, Adibah Abdul Mutalib, 52.
Miera said that the protracted legal dispute involving her husband and Adibah had negatively impacted her reputation within the local entertainment scene.
The actress, who won Best Supporting Actress at the 2013 Anugerah Skrin for the film Pecah, expressed that her standing had been tarnished due to her association with the case.
"I have won awards in the arts industry, but my reputation is now tainted by such a personal issue.
"I have also slowly started to become an 'influencer' with several international brands.
"But with my husband's court case still pending, my work has also been disrupted.
"Her (Adibah's) statements to the media could also damage my good name and that of my family.
"Stop airing your ex-husband's dirty laundry and move on with your life," she told Harian Metro.
The Apokalips X and Lebuhraya Ke Neraka actress also highlighted that her priority now is her husband and two growing children.
"My children's mental health is more important. My children are growing up, and this issue can't be erased, nor can what she (Adibah) said to the media regarding her husband.
"When the children grow up, they will read the news reports about their father, and I want to protect my children's emotions," said the mother of two.
Regarding the claims for child support, iddah, and muta'ah maintenance filed by Adibah, Miera stated that while Adibah can claim what she deems appropriate, the court should ultimately decide.
"If you are not satisfied with the divorce case, sue in court. There is no need to issue a statement that disgraces your ex-husband and family.
"Don't use my name to get publicity because you're not even an artiste.
"When you make a statement that exposes your ex-husband's disgrace to the media, it also disturbs the emotions of your own children," she said.
Previously, after successfully obtaining permanent custody of her three children in February, Adibah filed a claim for child support, iddah support (post-divorce maintenance), and muta'ah (consolatory gift) against Rosland at the Putrajaya Syariah Lower Court on June 25.
