Girona on verge of selling leftback Miguel Gutierrez to Napoli
Girona on verge of selling leftback Miguel Gutierrez to Napoli originally appeared on The Sporting News With Girona's La Liga season kicking off just over 10 days away, the Spanish club may still be sorting out its opening day lineup as Miguel Gutierrez is drawing significant interest from Italian side Napoli. In fact, the two parties are in advanced discussions, and a resolution may come as early as this week before each club begins its respective league duties. According to insider Fabricio Romano, Napoli is interested in adding the Girona stalwart to its backline– to the tune of 18 million Euros. Now, that fee appears rather nominal as Gutierrez has operated as a mainstay at leftback for Girona over the past three seasons, amassing 91 starts during that timeframe. At 24-years old, Gutierrez registered one goal and five assists last season across his nearly 2,500 minutes played. One season prior, Gutierrez offered nine goal contributions (two goals and seven assists) as he cemented himself as a productive, pace-laden defender for Girona. Before joining Girona, Gutierrez was a member of Real Madrid for three seasons, though he sparingly saw the field during that time. Now, selling Gutierrez would certainly generate additional funds for Girona to bolster its squad in other areas, but it would be a risky move for a team that already conceded 61 goals a year ago, good for third-most in all of La Liga. Girona will open its La Liga campaign against Rayo Vellanco on Friday, Aug. 15. Why Gutierrez is still waiting for a Napoli decision
Napoli have Miguel Gutierrez in their grasp for €20m and agreed personal terms with the Girona player, but have still not made a decision on whether to sign him. The left-back has just turned 24 last month and is a product of the Real Madrid youth academy, who made the move to Girona FC in 2022. We added that a decision wouldn't arrive in 24-48 hours from Wednesday, because the club is trying to reflect on the situation. Indeed, we are now on Sunday and Napoli have still not pulled the trigger, quite simply because they are waiting for the next two friendly matches against Brest today and Casertana tomorrow morning. After that, they can make a decision on whether to go all in or consider investing in other roles.

Napoli closing in double swoop for Miguel Gutierrez and Juanlu Sanchez
Napoli are reportedly close to securing deals for Spanish defenders Miguel Gutierrez and Juanlu Sanchez. The Serie A champions are working on strengthening the full-back positions this summer as they look to build a formidable squad ahead of the new season. Italian journalist Matteo Moretto claims that Napoli have reached a verbal agreement with Girona for the signing of left-back Gutierrez. The Partenopei are working on the personal terms for the Spaniard before finalising the deal, which could cost between €25-30 million. The Scudetto winners have been tracking Gutierrez throughout this summer and have beaten the likes of AC Milan and Juventus for his signing. The 24-year-old has developed into one of the most promising full-backs in Spain, playing a pivotal role in Girona's resurgence. He has racked up six goals and 19 assists in 112 appearances for the Catalan club. Real Madrid had a buy-back clause worth €8 million for Gutierrez, but they decided to sign Alvaro Carreras from Benfica for €50 million. Gutierrez is an attacking-minded full-back who can also play as a winger. His athleticism, combined with his excellent ball control, passing range and dribbling, makes him a dangerous outlet in the final third. He will compete with Leonardo Spinazzola for the left-back spot if Napoli complete the deal for the Spaniard. Meanwhile, Napoli have found a breakthrough in their transfer talks with Sevilla right-back Juanlu Sanchez. As per La Gazetta dello Sport, Antonio Conte's side have tabled an offer worth €17 million, which could be enough to seal a deal with financially-struggling Sevilla. The 21-year-old, who won the Gold medal with Spain in the Paris Olympics last year, has given the green light to move to Diego Maradona Stadium. Conte's men have completed the signings of Kevin De Bruyne, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, Noa Lang, Sam Buekema, Lorenzo Lucca and Luca Marianucci.

AC Milan target to undergo surgery on ankle
Girona star Miguel Gutierrez looked as if he was set for a move this summer, but that could be on the rocks, due to a poorly timed injury. The 23-year-old has been a standout performer for the Catalans over the last two seasons. In previous summers, Gutierrez has been linked to the likes of Bayern Munich, Arsenal, Liverpool and even a return to Real Madrid. Los Blancos have a €9m-buyback option on Gutierrez, and a 50% sell-on fee, but it appears they have turned their attentions elsewhere. Advertisement Links to AC Milan Recently AC Milan have supposedly opened talks with his camp for Gutierrez. They are keen on signing him as a replacement for Theo Hernandez, who is on his way to Saudi Arabia. Girona are reportedly asking for a fee of €25m, but it is not yet clear whether they are willing to reach that fee. Image via Marca Gutierrez to undergo surgery However on Thursday it was announced by the Catalan side that Gutierrez had undergone surgery for an ankle problem. It had been given him problems during the season, and forced him to miss a number of games in spring. His estimated recovery time is six to eight weeks, as per TV3. Return to action in September If that is the case, then Gutierrez will likely be looking at a return to action in September, and possibly after the international break at the start of the month. That would see him miss the first three games of the season, which is not a dramatic issue for Michel Sanchez's team – if he is still there. Advertisement It could however impact the willingness of Milan, or another club, to spend big on Gutierrez, robbing him of a move. For Girona too, Gutierrez has tow years left on his deal, and they will be keen to sell him this summer, unless they can agree a new contract.

Ferrero to acquire Kellogg CO for $3.1 billion
Ferrero has agreed to buy Kellogg CO in a $ 3.1 billion deal, companies announced Thursday. EPA-EFE/Miguel Gutierrez July 10 (UPI) -- Italy's Ferrero will acquire U.S. cereal maker WK Kellogg in a $ 3.1 billion deal, the companies announced Thursday. The agreement includes manufacturing, marketing and distribution of WK Kellogg's portfolio of breakfast cereals across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean. Pending approval from shareholders, $23 per share cash deal is expected to close in the latter half of the year. Ferrero plans to invest in WK Kellogg's brands such as Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops, Mini Wheats, Special K, Rice Krispies, Raisin Bran, Bear Naked and more as it seeks to expand growth. "Over recent years, Ferrero has expanded its presence in North America, bringing together our well-known brands from around the world with local jewels rooted in the U.S.," Ferrero Group executive chair Giovanni Ferrero said. Ferror recently purchased Nestle's candy business in the United States and Wells Enterprises, which owns Halo Top ice cream. In 2023, the Kellogg Company split itself into two companies, with WK Kellogg maintaining its cereal business while a separate company, Kellanova, maintained its snack offerings. "We believe this proposed transaction maximizes value for our shareowners and enables WK Kellogg Co to write the next chapter of our company's storied legacy," WK Kellogg CEO Gary Pilnick said.
