UDFA defensive back hopes to parlay clutch performances into NFL career with Cowboys

There's no salary cap on scouting departments, and with the adept eye of Will McClay leading the charge, the club has uncovered many diamonds in the rough over the years.
Could Eastern Kentucky DB Mike Smith Jr be among that group? The team signed Smith following this year's draft, in one of Dallas' thinner UDFA hauls in recent seasons. The former team captain was an AFCA All-American, unanimous All-UAC selection and was a participant in this year's East-West Shrine Bowl all-star game. He tied for his league lead with four interceptions on the season, including two that sealed victories in the final seconds.
