Love Island's secret sex rules as bosses make jaw-dropping change

As we wait for the new series of Love Island to kick off tonight, the Mirror lifts the lid on the show's secret sex rules as bosses allow sex scenes to be aired for the first time this summer ITV's Love Island has a string of secret sex rules, which the saucy singletons must follow. The new series of the smash-hit dating show, which kicks off tonight, is sure to be one of the steamiest yet after bosses revealed that sex scenes would be aired i n the Hideaway for the first time this summer. The jaw-dropping move has divided viewers, with some saying they don't know want to see what pops up beneath the sheets under the Spanish sun. However, others, think the rule change is just what the new series needs as executive producer Mike Spencer said: "If sex happens, we'll show it. The Hideaway will be open 24 hours. We need to keep the show fresh and exciting." ‌ So, as we wait for the new series to launch later when we'll finally be introduced to the class of 2025, here's all the sex rules the contestants must follow, including an outright ban on masturbating... ‌ READ MORE: Love Island contestant who replaced axed star admits he's already broken show rules Outright ban on masturbating Before going into the villa, all the Love Island contestants are prepped on what they can and can't do to ensure their strict sexual behaviour guidelines are met. There is an outright ban on masturbating in the villas and despite most of the contestants wearing very little in the show, no one is allowed to get fully naked in front of the cameras as it's a 'public place'. This even applies in the shower. Safety first Safe sex is paramount and each contestant is offered an STI-test before entering the villa. Love Island star Marcel Somerville has said that in his experience, the bosses of the show made a big push for safe sex - adding that anyone going on the show must pass an STI test. Marcel, who said he didn't have sex himself while he was in the villa, told The Mirror that the show does strict testing before people go in the villa, revealing that "quite a few" tests are done before people sign up for the show. ‌ To make sure the contestants are practicing safe sex, ITV bosses provide their own brand of condoms which are readily available with up to 200 packets of the contraceptive aids put in the villa at the start of the series. Former contestant, Kaz Crossley, managed to nab a bag of the branded condoms when she was dumped from the villa, sharing a snap of the loot with the caption: " to get my money's worth after being dumped, clearly." Drunk sex is banned Drunk sex – and getting drunk in general – is also banned in the Love Island villa as there is a two-drink limit per night for each Islander. ‌ Although the Islanders are given booze during their evening parties, contestants are not allowed to get drunk with an explicit number of drinks given to each contestant. After Andrea-Jane was dumped from the villa during the seventh series of the show, the blonde bombshell lifted the lid on the drinking rules inside the villa. She told Capital FM: 'It is a two-drink limit. And usually, you get your first drink and then you have to wait around three hours until the second one." ‌ Couples must see counsellor post-sex Anyone who does have sex in the villa must see a counsellor afterwards and can gain access to the morning after pill if needed. The contestants are also offered therapy when the show ends, with Love Island OG Amy Hart, previously praising producers, telling the Mirror the show 'saved her' with its 'exceptional' level of aftercare. A string of saucy singletons have had sex in the villa, including Jon Clark and Hannah Elizabeth, who 'christened' the villa when the show first aired in 2015 – with Jon declaring it was the 'best night of my life'. Meanwhile, in series two, Olivia and Alex Bowen had sex up to 30 times while Malin Andersson and Terry Walsh couldn't keep their hands off each other - and even did the deed in front of their housemates. ‌ The couple bizarrely decided to slide under their bed sheets in the middle of the day while in the middle of a conversation with the other islanders, but it was pretty obvious what they were up to. After dumping Malin, Terry moved on with Emma Jane Woodham who he brazenly had sex with on top of the covers in front of everyone. ‌ Speaking afterward in the Beach Hut, Emma admitted her dad wouldn't be impressed with her actions. She said: "Me and Terry had a bit of a kiss and a cuddle when we went upstairs last night. "My pops is very disapproving, so he won't like that very much." * Love Island 2025 starts tonight on ITV at 9pm

Love Island ‘reveals' first bombshell as Maya Jama gets special message from new Islander in surprise twist

LOVE Island has revealed this year's first bombshell and there is a shock twist in store. In a new video uploaded to the ITV2 dating show's official social media accounts, host Maya Jama received a very special message from the latest addition to the show. 3 The female bombshell in question sent the star a voice note to confirm she was on her way to the villa. In a surprise twist, it was revealed that she was from the USA and was hoping to turn heads as the first American bombshell. Whilst no details about the impending star were revealed, the woman could be heard saying to Maya: "Hey Maya, I heard you want more twists. "How about an American bombshell? "Get ready, I'm on my way!" The show's boss, Mike Spencer, previously teased there would be a huge week one twist that has never been seen before on the show and hinted that it could relate to this year's bombshells. The latest news is likely to spark speculation that each impending bombshell could be from overseas. After hearing the voice message, Maya quipped: "Alright, there's the sweet sweet sounds of an American!" 3

Love Island reintroduces bold hideaway rule for the first time in five years

Love Island fans are set to enjoy again the x-rated sex scenes happening in the famous Hideaway as a new summer instalment looms in. The hit dating ITV show is set to bring sexy back for the very first time in five years, according to bosses' comments. 'If sex happens, we'll show it. The Hideaway will be open 24 hours,' Mike Spencer, Love Island's Creative Director said. He added: 'We need to keep the show fresh and exciting. After 10 years, the stats speak for themselves. The show will continue to thrive.' And although the usual play of Love Island is to couple up with one other person from the opposite sex - b osses are hoping for potential throuples in the villa this year as they 'tear up the rule book' and install new furniture to help encourage bonking and create drama. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. One of the new additions includes a trampoline bed that sits across the swimming pool, and the Love Island exec has insisted it has been tested for up to four people. The secret hideaway - which includes a bed and hot tub - is now open 24 hours a day for those that aren't coupled up. Speaking ahead of the 10-year anniversary series of the hit reality show, which will air on Monday, Mike told the Mail: 'There's a new trampoline bed, that would be good for throuples. 'It can take the weight of four, we've checked. It's all about keeping the show fresh and exciting. And that's what we've got.' ITV bosses have attempted to give the new villa and series a glam-up to avoid the show being boring. The TV executive also revealed ITV will broadcast intimate activity if and when it happens and that they've had to 'tear up the rule book' this year, after viewing figures have dwindled after years of tame series of the reality show hit. 'The hideaway is open for business for 24 hours all the time, as long as they don't come with their partner,' Mike said. 'We told the islanders last year they could but they kept forgetting they could come in here. We've seen the same things time and time again how and it's boring. We've got to move on. 'It felt static, and the show needs to feel fresh. People that come in, all do the same thing. Because they've all watched it time and time again. It became too formatted. 'We've got to push forward. All the twist and turns, we're going to give it all we've got to make it an exciting series.' Last year the show had a shock entry when TOWIE favourite Joey Essex, 34, entered the villa. Asked if they will be getting another former reality tv star or celebrity in as a contestant this year, Mike said something else will be a surprise. 'No former love islanders are coming in this year,' he said. Something big is coming in week one though. Not another reality star like Joey Essex.' 'We've got a big week one planned. It's not a celebrity, but totally new. It's even different this year the way islanders will couple up. 'You can't rest on people loving the show, we have to keep it exciting. Tear up the rule book a bit.' Love Island's 2025 lineup has already been mocked after unveiling 'clones' of previous stars. Love Island producers - who have long been accused of lacking diversity in their casting - seemed to be sticking to 'their type on paper' as they opted for new stars who bear striking resemblance to past contestants. Fans were left doing a double take when Harry Cooksley was unveiled as the final Islander of the 2025 series, with many commenting that they had mistaken him for Tom Clare. In a spooky coincidence, Harry, 29, and Tom, 25, don't just have their rugged good looks in common, but their careers too - with both working as semi-professional footballers. Both the epitome of a blonde bombshells with their long, flowing curls and striking features, Helena Ford could be mistaken for Danielle Sellers. This will be the first time in five years that X-rated scenes will be aired during episodes of the ITV2 reality show. In the early days of Love Island, nothing was censored and fans were often given a full view of steamy bedroom antics. This included Terry Walsh and Emma Jane's infamous romp on top of the covers in 2016 - and his very public display with Malin Andersson during the same series.
