Knife massacre at 15th birthday party leaves five dead and four wounded after 'killer goes on rampage when girl refuses to have sex'

Five people were killed and four more injured after a man allegedly went on a rampage at a child's 15th birthday party when a guest refused to have sex with him. Seventeen-year-old Mikhail Paramonov is believed to have attacked guests at a country house in Siberia's Baikalsk last night after a 14-year-old girl turned him away. Friends at the event in Irkutsk region, Russia stood up for the girl after she rejected his advances, and urged him to go to sleep because he was 'drunk'. But Paramonov, whose parents owned the dacha, was said to have become 'heavily intoxicated' before allegedly attacking and killing four teenagers with a knife. Children between the ages of 13 and 16 were killed in the attack, TASS reports. Four others among the 14 present were also wounded. One girl named Veronika, 15, pretended to be dead after being stabbed - which may have saved her life. She ran to a neighbour for help, who called the police. When the police arrived, they saw the suspect 'naked and holding a knife'. He ran back into the house and 'opened a gas canister' before setting the house on fire, killing himself, per TASS. Police found five bodies in the smouldering remains of the house, including four males and one female. Most of the children had told their parents they would be staying with friends, local media. Their guardians did not know they had travelled some 125 miles from the regional capital to stay at a 'dacha', or country house, for the party. Regional law enforcement agencies told the TASS news agency that the private house belonged to the suspect's parents. Anastasia Sinota, 15, whose birthday was being celebrated, escaped the massacre. The victims were named locally as Nikolai Malyshev, 13, Vadim Pavlushkin, 14, and Oybek Bondursky, 14. The wounded were Viktoria 'Vika' Vishnyakova, 14, Veronika Rakitneko, 15, Ruslan Fedotov, 14, and Dmitriy Semyon, 15. Five safely left the scene of the massacre. One girl, Viktoria, 14, managed to escape just seconds before the gas explosion. The Russian Investigative Committee has now opened a murder probe into the killing of the four teenagers. 'At some point, one of them attacked those present with a knife,' said a statement. 'As a result, four teenagers died at the scene, and another four were taken to the hospital with various injuries. 'The suspected attacker set the house on fire after the attack and died in the resulting fire.' Astonishingly, the head of the local administration blamed the stabbing on alcohol consumption. A former classmate said: 'Everyone is shocked, of course, that [Mikhail] could do such a thing.' Regional children's ombudswoman Tatyana Afanasyeva said: 'As a result of this terrible crime, five teenagers were killed, including the attacker. 'Four were hospitalised. Three minors are receiving psychological assistance, they are in a state of profound shock. 'One minor was operated on, and may be transported to Irkutsk for further treatment, depending on his condition.' Regional law enforcement agencies told the TASS news agency that the private house belonged to the suspect's parent Irkutsk Region Governor Igor Kobzev said one of the victims was seriously wounded. 'The wounded children were hospitalised. A 14-year-old teenager with neck wounds is in extremely serious condition.' Three days of mourning were declared in Baikalsk after the tragedy unfolded.
