Rihanna's Beloved, Years-Old Singles Bounce Back Onto The Same Chart

Rihanna returns to the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart with both 'Stay' and 'Don't Stop the ... More Music,' which become bestsellers again. (Photo byfor The Met Museum/Vogue ) Fans are still waiting for Rihanna to release new music, but they might not have to hold on much longer. While the superstar has been teasing a new album for many years, there's still no sign it's actually on the way. She is, however, expected to produce new material for the upcoming animated Smurfs movie. The film has been advertising her involvement as the voice of a character, and it's also been noted that she has created original tunes for the movie. This is likely tied to her continued pursuit of an Academy Award for Best Original Song, an honor she's been nominated for in the past. Ahead of the upcoming film, which is expected to arrive in mid-July, lovers of Rihanna's music continue to buy and stream the hits that made her the global superstar she is today, and this week, she sends multiple tunes back to the same ranking in the United Kingdom. Rihanna currently fills three spaces on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, the tally that ranks the bestselling tracks in those styles — though that genre label can be applied fairly loosely. Her highest-rising hit on the list this frame is 'Stay,' her collaboration with Mikky Ekko. This time around, that track is back at No. 21. 'Don't Stop the Music' – which many would classify as either dance or pop – narrowly manages to re-enter the 40-spot roster, coming in at No. 38. At the same time, 'Breakin' Dishes,' which enjoyed something of a resurgence many years after its release, climbs slightly, moving from No. 35 to No. 33. Among those three cuts on the Official Hip-Hop and R&B Singles chart, only 'Don't Stop the Music' has led the charge. Coincidentally, it returns to No. 38 in its thirty-eighth week on this list. 'Stay' has come close, having risen as high as No. 2. 'Breakin' Dishes,' which was never a hit during its initial heyday but became one in 2024 after going viral, has only climbed to No. 17 and has so far spent just 14 frames somewhere on this ranking. Rihanna also claims a win on another genre-focused tally in the U.K. this week. 'We Found Love,' one of her collaborations with Calvin Harris, climbs a few spots on the Official Dance Singles chart. This time around, it jumps from No. 27 to No. 21 as it celebrates 229 weeks somewhere on the busy list. The continued consumption of many of two of these charting tracks helps keep one of Rihanna's albums present on a pair of rankings across the Atlantic. Good Girl Gone Bad has become a constant charter, and this frame is no different. It climbs to No. 62 on the Official Albums ranking thanks to general consumption, though it dips two spots to No. 53 on the Official Albums Streaming list. The plays it is constantly collecting on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music that are largely responsible for its continued presence on these tallies.

Rihanna Breaks Her Own Record As "Stay" With Mikky Ekko Rises Again

Rihanna's 'Stay' with Mikky Ekko just hit 12-times platinum in the U.S., making it her most-consumed ... More single ever, edging out 'We Found Love" with Calvin Harris. LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA - OCTOBER 10: Rihanna attends the Savage X Fenty Celebration of Lavish Lace Debut at Nordstrom Century City on October 10, 2024 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo byfor Savage X Fenty) Rihanna doesn't face much competition in the music world, as there aren't many names that have reached the same heights that she has. Even as she delays her next musical chapter again and again, the singer is still racking up big wins, and seemingly, only topping her own records. One of the biggest hits in Rihanna's discography earns a new certification from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), and in the process, it breaks out of a tie with another tune from her catalog and once again becomes her most successful ever. The advancement comes just days after another of her beloved tracks caught up. 'Stay,' Rihanna's heartfelt collaboration with Mikky Ekko, reaches 12-times platinum status in the U.S., according to the RIAA. That means the track has shifted at least 12 million equivalent units, between both pure sales and streaming activity. The jump from 11 to 12 million copies moved gives the ballad not only another plaque, but also an elite certification. 'Stay' now stands alone as Rihanna's highest-certified track in the United States. That's a huge feat for a cut that, while successful at the time of its release, wasn't predicted by many to be the one to eventually pull ahead of her other smashes. This new crown for 'Stay' comes just days after another of Rihanna's most recognizable songs advanced as well. 'We Found Love,' the high-energy EDM anthem produced by Calvin Harris, recently upgraded its RIAA status from diamond to 11-times platinum. That leap tied it with 'Stay,' but, as it turns out, only for a few days. In addition to both 'Stay' and 'We Found Love,' four other solo Rihanna releases have previously been certified for shifting 10 million units in the U.S., earning her that coveted diamond designation from the RIAA. Those tracks are 'Umbrella,' 'Work,' 'Needed Me,' and 'Diamonds.' While 'Umbrella' and 'Work' were originally released as collaborations with Jay-Z and Drake, respectively, the RIAA still counts them as solo successes for Rihanna. Several other songs in Rihanna's catalog are rapidly closing in on the diamond level as well. Her second collaboration with Harris, 'This Is What You Came For,' currently stands at eight-times platinum, making it her highest-certified non-diamond hit. Right behind that win are 'Disturbia,' 'Only Girl (In the World),' and 'Love on the Brain' — each of which has now been certified seven-times platinum. It's likely that in the coming months, and certainly years, at least one of those tunes will become a diamond success, if not several of them.
