Parents-of-22 Sue and Noel Radford in family adoption drama which ends in hospital dash over worrying ‘stroke' fears
MILLIE Radford is left shaken when husband Harley Passmore is rushed to hospital with a suspected stroke in this week's episode of 22 Kids and Counting. The mum-of-three, who wed Harley in a £9k ceremony last year, reveals how they had been going through a stressful patch over whether or not he should adopt Ophelia. 9 9 Harley started dating Millie when she was pregnant with Ophelia, and has raised her as his own ever since, with the biological dad not on the scene. In the show, Harley is desperate to legally adopt the four-year-old girl, who he helps raise along his and Millie's kids, Chester, three, and Elodie, one. He says: 'Obviously Millie did have Ophelia when we first met. 'I have been in Ophelia's life since she was six months old. 'Obviously, she's not my biological daughter, but I do treat Ophelia like she's my own. 'I do want people to look at me and Ophelia like 'oh they're father and daughter.' 'Ophelia doesn't have the same name - Millie, does, Chester does, Elodie does. 'Felt like, well, we can't leave Ophelia there out, and when she gets a bit older, she'll start understanding, like, why is my name different to Chester and Elodie's and mummy's and daddy's?' But raising the idea of adopting Ophelia has caused friction with Millie. The 23-year-old says: 'I've been worried for Ophelia. Britain's biggest family gets even bigger as Millie Radford reveals 'surprise new addition' to her brood 'I'm worried just because we haven't told Ophelia that Harley isn't actually her biological dad. 'Ophelia is only four, and it's a lot to handle and cope with at such a young age.' Later in the show she adds that she also has another big concern about it. She explains: 'I think the worry was that it can turn a lot of hatred towards Harley from Ophelia when she finds out that Harley isn't actually her biological dad and she has another dad.' 9 HOSPITAL VISIT Disagreements come to a head when Millie and Harley have a blazing row, followed by him being rushed to hospital in an ambulance in the morning. A panicked Millie could be heard phoning mum-of-22 Sue Radford, saying: 'I'm in an ambulance with Harley. 'One half of his face has all gone lopsided. 'It looks like he's had a stroke. He's slurring his words. 'He's really panicking, I'm panicking.' 9 9 Sue and Noel bring the three kids to their 10-bedroom Morecambe house, while Millie keeps Harley company in the stroke ward in hospital, admitting she is in 'shock' from the 'scary' ordeal. She adds: 'I felt guilty straight away wondering if it was arguing that had caused it. 'If something happened to him how would I feel then? 'I've pretty much done my whole motherhood with Harley, I can't imagine him not there.' After a nail-biting night on the ward waiting for results, Harley is told he hasn't had a stroke, but has got Bell's Palsy. Bell's Palsy is a neurological disorder that causes paralysis or weakness on one side of the face. He says: 'They came in with my results, my MRI results were totally fine which means I didn't have a stroke.' ADOPTION DECISION Following Harley's stressful stint in hospital, a 'relieved' Millie decides to rethink Harley adopting her daughter. She says: 'When I thought Harley was having a stroke, it was really scary. 9 9 9 'He was worried as well, and I was worried because of the paralysis side of it. 'What if he would never have been able to cope with the three kids again after that, or handle his life before that? 'I'm filling in the forms for the process of Harley adopting Ophelia. 'It's made me change my mind, because if anything was to happen to Harley, I know that Ophelia would have loved Harley to be her dad, so that is what I'm going to make happen.' FAMILY CONCERNS However, after some research, the process proves to be trickier than they had first anticipated. This is despite the biological father's name not being on Ophelia's birth certificate as he 'wasn't interested' in being a dad. Speaking of their adoption hurdles, Harley says: 'It's a lot harder work than we thought it would'. Millie adds: 'If we went down the adoption route we'd have to get in touch with Ophelia's biological dad.' Harley shared: 'He could just say no, 'I don't want you to adopt her.'' Millie also confesses that if they got in touch with the dad, he may want to be in Ophelia's life now which would be 'a lot' for the young girl.' In the end, they decide to go down the route of Harley applying for step parental responsibility agreement, which means he would have the same rights in terms of decision making. However, at the end, he hints that he is still keen to adopt Ophelia, and even texts the young girl's biological father behind Millie's back. He says: 'Even though I have the rights, I do want it on Ophelia's birth certificate to say I'm her father. 'I've just messaged Ophelia's biological father. Harley explained: 'She's literally just over eight weeks old,' whilst Millie continued: 'She is teething at the minute, so she's just chewing everything. 'She absolutely loves this mayhem house - when I picked her up, in her litter she was probably the most playful one, which was very ideal, especially for this household because it's just constantly mad.' The 22 Kids & Counting star then admitted: 'I was scared to get a dog - three young kids and a dog, but she has been great. 'She's settled in really well as well - so yeah, that's our new addition.' Moments later, Harley, who was previously filmed breaking down in tears on his wedding day to Millie, then recognised: 'I had to beg Millie. 'Millie wasn't too keen at first, she thought it would have been a bad idea, but I feel like it's been such a good idea because I feel like it's changed Ophelia's behaviour. They will probably abandon that dog when they go on their millionth holiday TikTok user A third commented: 'Lovely puppy.' Meanwhile, someone else wrote: 'She's adorable.' How does family-of-22 the Radfords afford to live? AS Britain's biggest family, it may come as no surprise that Sue and Noel Radford must have some hefty bills. Between them, they have a whopping 22 children and seven dogs, which often has some people wonder how they manage their money. The Radfords support themselves with the proceeds of Noel's bakery, The Radford Pie Company, which is located near their home. On their website, it says: 'We have owned our own lovely bakery since 1999 which is how we manage to provide for (and feed) our huge and expanding family as well as for the local people of Heysham and Morecambe.' The family expanded their business to cater to online orders placed across the UK. The business is a family affair, with Noel at the helm, and some of their children helping out. The older kids, who are working at least part-time, don't get a free ride as they're made to pay a small amount of rent to their parents. "Us older ones do pay a little bit of board. Granted it's not a lot but I'm also trying to save up for my own house at the moment.' their daughter Chloe said in a video on the YouTube channel. Sue added: "We've always said if you want to buy somewhere, renting is a bit of dead money, so we'd rather you saved that money up and stayed at home a bit longer. 'I also do believe they should pay board if they are earning. We've always been brought up by our parents that we had to pay board.' Noel and Sue famously don't rely on benefits for their bumper brood and live off their pie shop for income. They also revealed they make money from brand partnerships on social media. The Radford family stars in their own reality TV show 22 Kids and Counting - which has run for four series. Brand expert Andy Barr believes Noel and Sue have been paid less than £10,000 for each show. He told the Daily Mail: "The typical fee per episode is going to be in the thousands rather than the tens or hundreds of thousands that people often think is the case with TV shows of this nature. "If they continue to get commissioned for a fourth or fifth season, then they are going to be able to command a higher fee." He estimates that the Radfords make £ 5,000 an episode. Whilst one user beamed: 'The dog and kids can grow together and learn with each other." However, at the same time, one user snapped: 'They will probably abandon that dog when they go on their millionth holiday.' But to this, Millie confidently wrote back and set the record straight, as she claimed: 'We ain't going on holiday this year.' Sophie Radford puts ‘split' behind her on day out with Millie but it comes to a shocking end amid Liverpool parade panic
NEWLY-SINGLE Sophie Radford's day out in Liverpool came to a shocking end on Monday. The eldest daughter of parents-of-22 Sue and Noel Radford, Sophie decided to try and put her reported marriage split behind her as she headed out with sister Millie. 10 10 10 10 10 The siblings attended the Premier League game between Liverpool and Crystal Palace, and took to the streets of the city to celebrate following the former's title-grabbing victory. Sophie - who recently told fans she's "single" as she responded to their questions - shared numerous videos as they joined the celebrations, with people clambering to take snaps of the football team marking their win on an open-top bus tour. The 31-year-old even delightedly kicked a football high up and into the crowds below as she joined the cheering fans. Millie had also shared a video of Sophie wearing a Liverpool scarf and hat as she excitedly chanted about the win, waving the scarf as she did so. However, the sisters' day out came to a shocking end when a car smashed into the Liverpool supporters. Four children were among the 47 people hurt, with police confirming a 53-year-old white British man from the Merseyside area was arrested at the scene. As the horror unfolded just after 6pm, the car stalled after about 20 metres, with brave fans attempting to smash the windows to get at the driver. However, he managed to start the vehicle up again, piling into more screaming supporters as they tried to flee.
