Four people killed in three shootings within 17 hours in Milwaukee this weekend

Four people were killed in three shootings within 17 hours in Milwaukee this weekend, part of a continued uptick in gun violence that has prompted concern from city officials and violence prevention groups. Milwaukee police are investigating the following shootings that happened May 31. An 18-year-old sustained fatal gunshot wounds after a shooting around 5 a.m. on the 4600 block of North 41st Street. A 29-year-old and 48-year-old sustained fatal gunshot wounds after a double shooting around 6:08 p.m. on the 3100 block of North 2nd Street. A 49-year-old sustained a fatal gunshot wound after a shooting around 10:05 p.m. on the 8800 block of North 95th Street. A 61-year-old was arrested and charges are pending review by the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. Police are seeking unknown suspects in the first two shootings. Gun violence is spiking as the weather turns warmer. Data from mid-May showed homicides had outpaced 2024 numbers, despite a promising start to the year for violent crime. Two dead, six injured after six separate shootings on Sunday, May 25 in Milwaukee

Milwaukee Police are investigating separate shootings across the city that killed two people and injured several others on Sunday, May 25. A shooting on the 6000 block of N. 35th St. at around 5:50 a.m left 48-year-old dead and a second 42-year old victim with nonfatal gunshot wounds, according to Milwaukee Police. The second victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Later in the evening at 9:05 p.m., a second double shooting on the 3200 block of N. Teutonia Ave. left a 36-year-old dead and a second 37-year-old victim with nonfatal gunshot wounds. The 37-year-old was also taken to the hospital for treatment. As of May 21, there have been 48 homicides in Milwaukee, which is five more than last year at this date. Homicides in Milwaukee in 2024 had dropped since the COVID pandemic. Four other shootings on Sunday resulted in multiple injuries but no deaths. At midnight, a 45-year-old sustained a nonfatal gunshot wound on the 1900 block of S.35th St. and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. At 1 a.m., a 30-year-old was taken to the hospital after sustaining a nonfatal gunshot wound on the 2400 block of W. Clark St. Another shooting at around 4:25 a.m. the 6300 block of N. 76th St. injured and hospitalized a 38-year-old. A 23-year-old person sustained nonfatal gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital at around 7 p.m. after a shooting on the 2400 block of W. Hopkins St. The circumstances of each shooting are still under investigation. Milwaukee Police continue to seek unknown and known suspects.
