Samsung Settles Epic Games Dispute Ahead of Galaxy Z Fold 7, Flip 7 Launch
Just days before Samsung's highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, the tech giant has discreetly settled a major legal dispute with Epic Games, the creators of Fortnite. This move removes a looming legal distraction as Samsung prepares to launch its next-generation foldables, including the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7. The lawsuit, originally filed in a U.S. federal court in San Francisco in 2024, accused both Samsung and Google of collaborating to stifle competition within the Android app marketplace. At the heart of the complaint was Samsung's "Auto Blocker" feature, which Epic argued discouraged users from installing third-party apps outside of Google Play or Samsung's Galaxy Store. On Monday, Epic Games confirmed it had reached an agreement with Samsung. The biggest highlight this year is that the Flip 7 has a bigger outer screen, which wraps around the cameras, abandoning the folder-style cover display of its predecessor. Apparently, the size of the external display has increased from 3.4 inches to 4.1 far from the only change that will increase the Flip 7 's odds of beating the best foldable phones of 2025. The outer screen is also bigger, with rumors saying it has grown from 6.7 inches to 6.9 Flip 7 also looks thinner than the Flip 6. The crease is likely still there and may become more noticeable with use, but it's still a noticeable improvement over the Flip 6. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are just two days away from going official, but that hasn't stopped the rumour mill from churning out key details about the upcoming devices. In the latest development, two hands-on videos from different sources have surfaced, showing both the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 in action, and they reveal quite a bit about these upcoming phones. This year, Samsung is said to be focusing on the design, in-hand feel, and ergonomics of its foldable smartphones, with the Galaxy Z Fold 7 tipped to be around 3.9mm to 4.5mm thick when unfolded, making it one of the slimmest devices in its to a video shared by Ice Universe via X (formerly Twitter), the Galaxy Z Fold 7 can be seen in action. While the cover screen of the phone is not shown in the video, we do get a look at the inner display and how the user is easily able to hold the phone with one hand and open/close apps.
