Arrest of individuals for committing various crimes
Monday, 02 June 2025 The LAF Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement: As part of the security measures implemented by the military institution in various regions, LAF units arrested 23 individuals as follows: Citizen ( and Palestinian ( at Deir Ammar checkpoint – Minieh Danniyeh, as they were wanted for shooting. 20 Syrians for illegally roaming inside Lebanese territory. Citizen (H.H.) at Al Nahrain intersection checkpoint in Chouf for possessing a quantity of military ammunition. Additionally, the LAF unit, supported by a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate, arrested a citizen (T.M.) in Sahraa Shweifat for being wanted for shooting and for possessing a firearm and military ammunition. The seized items were handed over, and investigations with the arrestees began under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.

Polling disrupted in Akkar and Minieh-Danniyeh after election disputes
According to LBCI, polling was temporarily suspended for about 30 minutes at the public school in Qarqaf, Akkar, following a dispute between supporters of competing electoral lists. In a separate incident, tensions also flared in the town of Sfira in the Minieh-Danniyeh district, prompting the Lebanese army to intervene and restore order. Both incidents occurred amid ongoing municipal elections across northern Lebanon.

Figures show voter turnout at 10:30 a.m. in North Lebanon and Akkar
Northern Lebanon districts reported varying voter turnout levels in the early hours of the municipal elections. Voter turnout varies across northern Lebanese districts as polls open
As polling stations opened at 7:00 a.m., voter turnout across northern Lebanon showed significant variation in the early hours of the municipal and mukhtar elections. As of the latest update, the turnout rates in the northern districts were as follows: North Lebanon: 4.58% Akkar: 7.40% Tripoli: 1.94% Zgharta: 6.12% Bcharre: 4.88% Minieh-Danniyeh: 6.75% Koura: 5.85% Batroun: 8.84% The figures reflect a mixed level of engagement among voters in the region, with Batroun recording the highest turnout so far and Tripoli the lowest.
