Putin's biggest mouthpiece threatens US with ‘radioactive TSUNAMI' using nuke torpedoes as Trump sends arms to Ukraine

PUTIN'S chief propagandist has warned Russia could wipe out both coasts of the US with its Poseidon torpedoes. Vladimir Solovyov said on state TV that launching the nuclear-powered drones - designed to unleash a "radioactive tsunami" - would mean "the end" for America. 5 Vladimir Solovyov said two Poseidons 'could wipe out the US and create a radioactive disaster' Credit: Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation 5 Vladimir Putin unveiled the underwater Poseidon drone in 2018 5 Russian President Vladimir Putin and leading TV propagandist Vladimir Solovyov Speaking on the state-run Russia-1 channel about a hypothetical response to "Western aggression", "That would be the end - nothing will save them.' Referring to US missile defense systems, he said: 'No protective element will help them'. Solovyov suggested Washington underestimates Russia's capabilities, adding it would face dire consequences if it escalates tensions. The Poseidon, also known as Status-6, is a Russian nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed underwater drone designed to attack coastal infrastructure. The Poseidon is said to be capable of diving miles beneath the ocean surface and traveling unmanned at speeds of up to 62mph. Pentagon analysts - who refer to the weapon as 'Kanyon' - believe it's designed to carry a thermonuclear warhead packing 'tens of megatons' of explosive power. The torpedo is therefore considered capable of creating a 'radioactive tsunami' - an underwater nuclear blast powerful enough to flood and contaminate large swaths of coastline. Most read in The US Sun Pro-Putin state TV presenter Dmitry Kiselyov said in 2022 that detonating such a torpedo near the British coast could trigger a 1640-ft tsunami that would flood the coastline with radioactive seawater. Some experts warn that the Poseidon could unleash a tsunami as devastating as the one that killed 20,000 people in Japan and crippled the Fukushima nuclear plant in 2011. NATO fighter jets to get 'AI upgrade' to deter Putin as Russian threat intensifies But others remain sceptical about the torpedo's ability to trigger a tsunami. This isn't the first time Solovyov has made threats about Russia using nuclear weapons against the West. Solovyov is known for his staunch support of Putin's policies, including Russia's war in Ukraine, which he openly promotes on his prime-time show Evening with Vladimir Solovyov. On the eve of Russia 's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022, he was sanctioned by the EU and banned from entering its member states. Solovyov at the time said: "Today is the day that a righteous operation was launched for the de-Nazification in Ukraine." After proposals by some EU countries to ban tourist visas for Russians, he suggested missile strikes on Berlin, Paris, London and Brussels in August 2022. Solovyov's comments come as Russia launched its Key targets of the bombardment were Lutsk and Ternopil in the West of Ukraine, which triggered an emergency response from Nato forces in neighbouring Poland. Both Polish and other Western air force warplanes were scrambled as a defensive measure during the Putin strikes.
