Inspection of Initiative Projects Implementation in Bani Matar, Sana'a Governorate
Sana'a – SABA: The First Undersecretary of Sana'a Governorate, Hamed Asem, along with the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research, Hadi Ammar, and the Governorate's representative, Taleb Dahan, inspected the progress of development initiative projects supported by the Central Emergency Developmental Interventions Unit of the Ministry of Local Administration and Rural Development in Bani Matar District. Accompanied by the District Director, Yahya Al-Qannous, they reviewed the ongoing work on the Jahama – Al-Habatara – Al-Asha road expansion and paving project, spanning 23 kilometers with an 8-meter width, at an estimated cost exceeding 40 million Yemeni riyals. They also examined the progress of the Shamsan – Al-Marjala road project, stretching 12 kilometers with a 5-meter width, funded by the Central Emergency Developmental Interventions Unit at a cost of 25 million riyals, implemented with community participation. Additionally, they inspected the cutting and expansion of the Al-Khallat road, covering 3 kilometers with a 4-meter width, costing 7.5 million riyals, as well as the expansion and paving of the "Jabhan" road, extending 2 kilometers with a 5-meter width, at a cost of 9 million riyals. These projects serve thousands of citizens in the Bani Qais area. During the visit, officials listened to citizens' concerns regarding the challenges they face due to rough roads and difficult transportation, particularly in remote rural areas. The First Undersecretary of the Governorate stated that the visit aimed to assess the implementation level of road initiative projects and their compliance with technical standards and execution quality. He praised the efforts of the Central Emergency Interventions Unit and the local community in executing these vital road projects, which serve as lifelines for residents. He stressed the importance of enhancing community partnership in local development as an effective tool to meet service needs, particularly road projects, which directly alleviate citizens' hardships. For his part, Engineer Shihab Al-Jawfi, representative of the Central Emergency Interventions Unit, urged doubling efforts to complete stalled initiative projects to meet citizens' aspirations and reduce their suffering. Education ministry denies announcement of basic certificate exam results
Sana'a – Saba: The Ministry of Education and Scientific Research has refuted reports circulating on websites and social media claiming that the results of the basic general certificate exams have been announced. Director of Examinations Najib al-Matari told Saba News Agency that the electronic correction process for the basic and secondary level general certificate exams for the academic year 1446 AH (2024/2025 AD) is still ongoing. He stated that any news about the results being released is false. Al-Matari urged the public to disregard rumors and fake links on social media and to get verified information from the Ministry's official websites and pages. Higher Education Sector continues review of Yemeni University performance reports
Sana'a – Saba: The Higher Education Sector of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research in the capital Sana'a has continued its annual review of performance reports from Yemeni universities and colleges for the 2023-2024 academic year for a second day. The annual report of Jeblah University, presented by its rector Dr. Abdullah al-Matari, was discussed, covering its strategic plan implementation, achievements in leadership, teaching, automation, faculty status, student statistics, activities, community service, challenges, and proposed solutions. Dr. Al-Matari praised the Ministry and the Academic Accreditation Council's efforts in monitoring university performance. Deputy Minister Dr. Hatem al-Duais highlighted the importance of these meetings for reviewing performance and data provision. He commended Jeblah University's progress, attributing it to their hospital management experience and community engagement. He also stressed the value of these reports in creating a database for informed decision-making. Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, lauded Jeblah University's achievements and community cooperation, urging them to focus on staff retention. He reiterated that the sector is reviewing all university reports to assess achievements, challenges, strengths, and weaknesses, which will impact national university rankings. Dr. Ilham al-Sanabani outlined the evaluation themes used for the fifth year, including strategic planning, student statistics, faculty, finances, quality management, research, and community services. The annual achievement reports of the Modern Specialized University and Balqis Yemen Community College for Health Sciences and Technology were also presented and discussed, covering similar areas of performance evaluation. Final Qualifiers for summer festival for gifted, creative students in Capital
Sana'a - Saba: Hadi Ammar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research for the Basic Education Sector, on Saturday inspected the final qualifying rounds for the fourth Summer Festival for the Gifted and Creative Students at summer schools in the capital, Sana'a. Ammar, along with Abdul Qader al-Mahdi, Head of the Education Sector in the Capital and Vice Chairman of the Summer Courses Subcommittee, and Ahmed al-Khazan, Director of the Orphanage, listened to a number of contestants in Quran memorization, poetry, public speaking, and chanting. The visitors viewed the work of a number of contestants in the fields of innovation, theater, drawing, and sculpture, praising the creativity of the students enrolled in the summer courses. They emphasized their commitment to fostering and nurturing these talents to benefit from them in their respective fields. Abdullah Al-Madani, Vice Chairman of the Festival's Organizing Committee and Deputy Director of School Activities in the Education Sector, explained that 61 participants competed in the final rounds in Quran memorization, poetry, theater, chanting, drawing, sculptures, recitation, public speaking, and folklore (individually and collectively). He commended the efforts of the judging committees, which included highly qualified and specialized staff, in successfully conducting the competitions. It's worth noting that the festival launched last Monday with the participation of 800 contestants from various summer schools across the capital's districts who qualified from the preliminary rounds held at the district level. Higher Education Sector begins review of Yemeni University annual reports
Sana'a – Saba: The Higher Education Sector of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research on Saturday commenced its annual meeting to present and discuss the performance reports of Yemeni universities and colleges for the academic year 2023-2024. Over the next two weeks, the sector will review achievement levels in the annual reports of both public and private universities and community colleges. Meetings will be held with university and college presidents to discuss their reports and the provided data. The first session involved the review of the Emirates International University's annual report, presented by its leadership. The report detailed the university's operational achievements, developments in academic, administrative, and research areas, infrastructure expansion, challenges, and proposed solutions. Minister of Education and Scientific Research Hassan Al-Saadi emphasized the importance of this process for assessing performance, identifying shortcomings, and improving the quality of higher education. He stressed the need for transparency and accurate data. Undersecretary of the Higher Education Sector, Dr. Ibrahim Luqman, stated that reviewing all university reports is crucial for evaluation and understanding their achievements and challenges. He noted that this process would inform the national classification of universities and highlighted the complementary role of private institutions.
