Six motorcycles seized, 24 summonses issued in Miri anti-street racing operation

MIRI (July 19): A total of six motorcycles were seized and 24 summonses issued during an anti-illegal racing operation dubbed Ops Samseng Jalanan, conducted here last night.
The operation, aimed at curbing illegal street racing and ensuring compliance with traffic laws, was carried out between 10pm and 3am at multiple locations across Miri.
These include Jalan Bandaraya Miri, Marina Utama, Jalan Miri-Bypass, Jalan Tanjung Lobang, Jalan Tudan, Jalan Permyjaya, and Jalan Canada Hill.
Miri police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said 10 vehicles were inspected during the operation, of which six motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for being illegally modified and sent for further inspection.
'A total of 10 individuals were checked, and 24 PDRM (K) 257 summonses were issued for various traffic offences,' he said in a statement.
Mohd Farhan added that similar operations would continue to be carried out on a regular basis.
'We urge all road users, especially motorcyclists, to ride responsibly, avoid illegal gatherings, and refrain from modifying their vehicles or engaging in street gang activities,' he said.
He also warned against gathering by the roadside in ways that cause traffic congestion or noise disturbances that disrupt public peace.
