Robert Irwin in 'scary place' after underwear shoot
Robert Irwin has ended up in "a scary place" after posing in his jocks. The 21-year-old conservationist - who is the is the son of late Crocodile Hunter star Steve Irwin - recently stripped down to his boxers for a Bonds campaign but ahead of his appearance on Dancing With the Stars he admits he hasn't been reading his direct messages because of the viral reaction to the risque shoot. "I'm in a scary place right now. I've been kinda sorta avoiding the direct message section for a little bit," he told UsWeekly. "The last couple months have been very eye-opening, that's for sure. And I really thought in modelling Bonds underwear or doing Dancing With the Stars, that sort of thing, I could bring in a whole new audience to listen to my conservation message." Irwin hopes his upcoming stint on the dancing competition will bring his passion to a wider audience. "I definitely feel like I'm really lucky that now I've got a whole new audience that I can reach and hopefully just put out a bit of positivity," he said. "You just got to give it your all. And you've got to try as hard as you can to have a bit of fun." He says he's grateful to follow in the footsteps of his sister Bindi Irwin, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015. "I mean she won Dancing With the Stars and just was such an incredible shining light. I remember watching [her] on that show just thinking, 'This is the coolest thing ever!'" Julianne Hough Names Her DWTS Mount Rushmore
Julianne Hough is one of the all-time greats of Dancing With the Stars. She was only on it as a pro for five seasons, but she won twice in those five years, taking home the Mirrorball Trophy in back-to-back seasons when she was just 18 and 19 years old. She has also been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards for Best Choreography, winning in 2015. So, she's certainly qualified to decide which four contestants would make it on the Dancing With the Stars Mount Rushmore, i.e. the four GOATs (greatest of all time) - though she acknowledges that there have been so many good ones over the years that it's hard to narrow it down to just four. "Oh, this is so hard. I'll go with Emmitt Smith, Apolo Anton Ohno, Iman Shumpert and Bindi Irwin," said Hough in a new interview with Variety. For the record, Smith won season 3 and came back and took 4th place on season 15 both times with partner Cheryl Burke; Ohno won season 4 with Hough and then came back and took 5th place in season 15 with partner Karina Smirnoff; Shumpert won season 30 with partner Daniella Karagach; and Irwin won season 21 with partner (and now judge) Derek Hough, Julianne's older brother. Do you agree with her answers? Hough did go on to list a few more possibilities and said it's so hard to choose, especially without a list in front of her. "There are so many greats I could've included, such as Amber Riley, Jordan Fisher and Zendaya. The list goes on. Honestly, I wish I had a full list in front of me. It's impossible to choose!" said Hough. The 36-year-old dancer also talked about playing a Ginger Rogers-esque character in the Maggie Gyllenhaal-directed film The Bride, which comes out in 2026. Hough said that the Golden Age of Hollywood is definitely her wheelhouse, but she wants to bring it forward with more present-day narratives. "The moment I read for it, I had to get it. Maggie is such a rich, detail-oriented director, and working alongside people like Christian Bale, Jake Gyllenhaal and Bobby Jean Smith was mind-blowing. The style, the sound, the movement - it's going to be uncomfortable in the best way," said Hough, adding, "The Golden Age of Hollywood is really my genre, not just for nostalgia, but because I want to reimagine it. Bring that glamour and talent-forward energy, but shift the outdated narratives." Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. All Rights Reserved

'Dancing with the Stars' 2025: Robert Irwin confirmed as 1st cast member
Another season of Dancing with the Stars is on the way — and ABC has already announced its first celebrity dancer. Robert Irwin, 21, will be joining the competition, following in the footsteps of his sister Bindi, who won the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015 with her dancing partner, Derek Hough. Their father was famed Australian conservationist Steve Irwin, known as the 'Crocodile Hunter,' who was killed by a stingray at 44 years old in 2006. Dancing with the Stars wrapped another successful season on ABC this past fall, ranking as the top show among adults 18 to 49 in Live+Same Day viewing, Deadline reported. Season 33 broke several records and crowned The Bachelor alum Joey Graziadei and professional Jenna Johnson as the winners. ABC hasn't announced when the latest season of Dancing with the Stars will premiere, but the new season is expected to start sometime in mid- to late September. Julianne Hough and Alfonso Ribeiro will return as hosts, while Carrie Ann Inaba, Bruno Tonioli and Derek Hough will return as judges. The show will air live on ABC and Disney+ and be available for streaming the next day on Hulu. Here's who has been cast for the upcoming season. Irwin is a wildlife conservationist like his dad and lives in Australia. He, along with his mom and sister, works with wildlife at the Australia Zoo. 'All I can say is, crikey! Holy moly,' Irwin said at Hulu's Get Real event on Tuesday. In true Irwin fashion, he had a snake around his neck. "I cannot tell you what a privilege, what an honor it is to be joining this season.' 'This has been a dream of mine since I was a little kid watching my sister's incredible journey on the show,' Irwin posted on Instagram. 'I cannot believe it is about to become a reality. So grateful.'

Dancing With the Stars Announces First Season 34 Cast Member
Originally appeared on E! Online Crikey! Dancing With the Stars just announced their first season 34 cast member. Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin—the son of the late Steve Irwin and his wife Terri Irwin—is set to join the ABC competition series for its upcoming season, he announced at Disney Entertainment Television's Get Real Event April 22. And while the 21-year-old—who recently starred in a Bonds underwear campaign—will be trading in his notable khaki uniform for dancing attire, he's not the first member of his family to tango onto the show's dance floor. In fact, Robert's sister Bindi Irwin took home the Mirrorball Trophy in 2015, winning season 21 alongside partner Derek Hough—a feat she still can't believe. "It still doesn't feel real," Bindi—whose dad Steve Irwin died in 2006 at age 44—told Entertainment Tonight in a joint May 2024 interview with Robert and Terri, telling her brother and mom, "I think you guys would shock yourselves with how good you would be." And, in a move possibly hinting at his future, Robert admitted he was interested, adding, "I'd give that a go. Yeah, I'd give it a go. I'd do it." More from E! Dance pro Rylee Arnold, who placed fourth alongside gymnast Stephen Nedoroscik during season 33, also put her hopes of having Robert on the show into the ether. 'His sister Bindi was on the show,' the 19-year-old told Entertainment Tonight in May, 'and I remember watching his sister on the show when I was 8 years old, and I was like, 'Robert's like my age.' I was like, 'Please he has to be on the show at least one day for me.'' She added, 'Guys, let's all manifest it together.' The rest of the season 34 cast will be announced at a later date. While Robert was eager to join the Dancing With the Stars cast, some stars have turned down the opportunity. Read on to see who all has said no to the show.
