Julianne Hough Names Her DWTS Mount Rushmore

Miami Herald10-05-2025

Julianne Hough is one of the all-time greats of Dancing With the Stars. She was only on it as a pro for five seasons, but she won twice in those five years, taking home the Mirrorball Trophy in back-to-back seasons when she was just 18 and 19 years old. She has also been nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards for Best Choreography, winning in 2015.
So, she's certainly qualified to decide which four contestants would make it on the Dancing With the Stars Mount Rushmore, i.e. the four GOATs (greatest of all time) - though she acknowledges that there have been so many good ones over the years that it's hard to narrow it down to just four.
"Oh, this is so hard. I'll go with Emmitt Smith, Apolo Anton Ohno, Iman Shumpert and Bindi Irwin," said Hough in a new interview with Variety.
For the record, Smith won season 3 and came back and took 4th place on season 15 both times with partner Cheryl Burke; Ohno won season 4 with Hough and then came back and took 5th place in season 15 with partner Karina Smirnoff; Shumpert won season 30 with partner Daniella Karagach; and Irwin won season 21 with partner (and now judge) Derek Hough, Julianne's older brother.
Do you agree with her answers?
Hough did go on to list a few more possibilities and said it's so hard to choose, especially without a list in front of her.
"There are so many greats I could've included, such as Amber Riley, Jordan Fisher and Zendaya. The list goes on. Honestly, I wish I had a full list in front of me. It's impossible to choose!" said Hough.
The 36-year-old dancer also talked about playing a Ginger Rogers-esque character in the Maggie Gyllenhaal-directed film The Bride, which comes out in 2026. Hough said that the Golden Age of Hollywood is definitely her wheelhouse, but she wants to bring it forward with more present-day narratives.
"The moment I read for it, I had to get it. Maggie is such a rich, detail-oriented director, and working alongside people like Christian Bale, Jake Gyllenhaal and Bobby Jean Smith was mind-blowing. The style, the sound, the movement - it's going to be uncomfortable in the best way," said Hough, adding, "The Golden Age of Hollywood is really my genre, not just for nostalgia, but because I want to reimagine it. Bring that glamour and talent-forward energy, but shift the outdated narratives."

Bindi Irwin has fans in tears with emotional admission about Robert Irwin: 'Sobbing'

Bindi Irwin has left fans in tears after sharing a sweet admission about her brother Robert Irwin and her daughter Grace Warrior. Speaking on Kylie Kelce's podcast Not Gonna Lie, Bindi surprised fans when a funny conversation turned into a very sweet moment. Kylie and Bindi were speaking about Robert's recent thirst trap photos and his recent (shirtless) announcement that he would be taking part in the American Dancing With the Stars, when she joked, "There are some things as his sister that I can't just unsee. When he did the Dancing announcement, he was shirtless, and he recently did his Bonds commercial, he was just in his underwear, and it is…it is rough." So laughed, "I really want to be supportive, I really am so proud of him. He's taking the message of conservation to new heights!" Bindi added, "Do I get a little bit scared of the women and girls and some guys who are very intense? It can be a lot. But he's doing really well with all of it, and I am very proud of him." When Kylie asked what he's like as an uncle, Bindi said, "He is such a good uncle, we actually call him a funcle as well." "As Grace has grown up, she just gets more and more excited to go on Uncle Robert adventures," she explained. "Because he kind of like pushes the limits a little. He does fun things and exciting things. And so she loves it. And he is so present with her, which I love so much." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce (@nglwithkylie) Bindi said that Robert's energy as an uncle reminds her very much of their dad, Steve Irwin. "When we were growing up as kids, me and Robert, it's very similar with Dad, he would do the same thing, where he would just pick us up and be like, 'OK, we're gonna go hike up this mountain, or we're heading to the Simpson Desert to research fear snakes,' and off we would go! "Dad was such an adventurer and I see that in Robert, like, I see he is so similar to Dad, and I'm really glad that Grace is gonna have that energy in her life, like she would've had from Dad." One fan commented on the video, "Dang it! This was funny until it made me cry!" "Bindi's got us all out here crying," another added. "The Irwin family is so precious," a third said. "This clip absolutely made me tear up." "What an amazing thing to say about your sibling," someone else added. "I'm sure they argued as kids, but the way they both talk about each other, their dad and especially their mom. It always just warms my soul." She oozes love," yet another said. "Her and her brother have grown into the most incredible humans," one person added. "Steve would've loved being a grandpa." "Sobbing... Steve was pure light and energy," someone else shared. "I remember the day, ugh. Robert and Bindi exude twice as much of his energy as one would anticipate. It's special to watch children live out their parents' legacy."

Dolly Parton opens Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WMBB) – After a year and a half of construction, Pirates Voyage Dinner and Show is now open in Panama City Beach. This is their biggest of Dolly Parton's 3-Pirates Voyage attractions, with seating for more than 1,000 people. Parton says she thought Panama City Beach was the perfect place to open a new location. 'We know this is a great vacation spot and this is a wonderful place to come have supper because kids will be hungry after that, maybe they'll sleep good too after they had a good meal and been entertained,' Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show Founder Dolly Parton said. Pirates Voyage will host up to four shows a day, where performers battle each other on a stage that consists of floating pirate ships. Buccaneer Bay Lagoon is where the action takes place. Pirates from the sapphire and crimson teams battle each other across the stage. They are joined by Captain Blackbeard and Salty the Sea Lion. Visit PCB celebrates Tourism Appreciation Day with Pirates Voyage The shows include audience participation. 'You'll pick your side, and then we'll have competitions to see who is going to win Davy Jones's treasure,' Captain Blackbeard said. And everyone gets involved. 'Even your server, who is bringing you the fabulous four-course feast, gets involved in the show. Still kind of have to watch and see what your server is doing when they're part of Blackbeard's crew,' Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show PR Manager Ellen Liston said. The attraction has already created 300 jobs in the area. Parton says performers come from all over to be a part of the show. 'We literally have folks from all over the country, as a matter of fact, all over the world. And they kind of keep track of people that do these kinds of things. So we're just so proud to have all these great performers, and they are so talented,' Parton added. Pirates Voyage added another show that will start at 8:30 on Thursday night. It is open to the public. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
