The 13 Best Adam Sandler Movies To Stream Before 'Happy Gilmore 2'

With more than 80 movies and TV shows to his name, actor Adam Sandler is no stranger to the silver screen. He has earned three Grammy Awards, five Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Most recently, he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2023 and People's Icon Award in 2024. On top of all of that, back in 2011, Sandler was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Now, with Happy Gilmore 2 premiering today, July 25, 2025—a long-awaited sequel nearly 30 years in the making—fans are revisiting his funniest and most iconic roles. But despite all of those awards and honors, he is best known for his hilarious voice and unbeatable line delivery. First appearing on Saturday Night Live from 1990 to 1995, Sandler has remained a force to be reckoned with in the movie industry ever since. And here, we have ranked the 13 best Adam Sandler movies of all time. 13. 'Murder Mystery' (2019) Sandler teamed with award-winning actress Jennifer Aniston for the second time in this laugh-out-loud cozy mystery. The duo travels to Europe for their anniversary, but things go south when people keep showing up dead. It won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Comedic Movie, and its sequel was released in 2023. You can watch this movie on Netflix. 12. 'Hotel Transylvania' (2012) In this family-friendly film, Sandler voices Dracula, a father determined to protect his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) from the outside world. To do that, he builds her a monsters-only hotel. Thanks to his voice talents, Sandler shines here. It also stars David Spade, Andy Samberg, Steve Buscemi and Kevin James, and went on to have four sequel movies. You can watch the movie on Prime Video. 11. 'Longest Yard' (2005) After Sandler's character, disgraced football quarterback Paul Crewe, ends up in jail and devises a plan to beat the cruel prison guards at a rigged tackle football game. But he can't do it without the help of ex-NFL coach Nate Scarborough (Burt Reynolds). Filled with laughter, heart and sports, this film has something for everyone. You can watch the movie on Paramount+. 10. 'Big Daddy' (1999) Costarring alongside Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Sandler plays their dad, who has no ambition but is forced to really step up and take care of his kids in order to impress his ex-girlfriend. Lots of laughs and dealing with second chances, the film allows Sandler to capture viewers' hearts. Rob Schinder and Leslie Mann also appear. You can watch this movie on Prime Video. 9. 'The Waterboy' (1998) With stars like Kathy Bates, Peter Dante, Henry Winkler and more, this movie might be one of Sandler's most underrated films. After going from waterboy to linebacker, Bobby Boucher Jr (Sandler) steps up to the plate, and soon a once-losing team has a chance at the championship. This movie is perfect for fans of Sandler's other sports comedy movies. You can watch this movie on Hulu. 8. 'Billy Madison' (1995) In his first movie after leaving Saturday Night Live, Sandler decided to do what he did best: make viewers laugh with his hilarious voice and wit. The last thing man-child Billy Madison (Sandler) wants to do is go back and redo kindergarten through 12th grade, but he has no choice. If he doesn't, his father's business will go to Billy's worst enemy, Eric (Bradley Whitford). You can watch this movie on Prime Video. 7. 'Blended' (2014) In Sandler's latest film with Drew Barrymore, the two set off on a dream vacation to Africa with their kids. The only problem? They have to pretend to be in a relationship despite the fact that they hate each other. Or do they? With things like safaris, elephant sightings and even Shaquille O'Neal, this movie captured viewers' hearts and didn't let it go. You can watch this movie on Hulu. 6. 'Happy Gilmore' (1996) After a failed hockey career, Happy Gilmore (Sandler) decides to try to win the PGA golf tournament to help his grandma (Frances Bay) out with her house payments. And with the help of his mentor, Chubbs (Carl Weathers), Happy may just pull it off. A hilarious movie that somehow made golf a lot more entertaining for non-fans of the sport. You can watch this movie on Prime Video. 5. 'The Wedding Singer' (1998) This was the first team-up between Sandler and Berrymore, but it certainly was not the last! Set in 1985, Robbie Hart (Sandler) is a wedding singer who ironically was left at the altar by his fiancée. He meets Julia Sullivan (Barrymore), who hires Robbie to help plan her wedding. Now Robbie must stop Julia from marrying the wrong guy in the hopes that she will end up with him instead. What follows is lots of shenanigans and even a song performed by Sandler himself. You can watch this movie on Prime Video. 4. 'Grown Ups' (2010) It was the team-up everyone had been waiting for: Sandler starring alongside James, Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, and more! In the film, after their childhood basketball coach dies, five friends decide to head out to a lakeside cabin with their families for the Fourth of July. What could go wrong? This movie also had a sequel, Grown Ups 2, which came out in 2013. You can watch this movie on Prime Video. 3. '50 First Dates' (2004) Set in breathtaking Hawaii, Barrymore plays a woman (Lucy Whitmore) who can't remember anything from the day before, but despite this, Henry Roth (Sandler) sets his sights on her and does everything in his power to get her to remember him, much to everyone else's dismay. Barrymore and Sandler's chemistry reaches new highs in this rom-com. You can watch this movie on Prime Video. 2. 'Uncut Gems' (2019) Sandler's ability to become a serious actor, not just a comedian, shocked viewers with this film. Jeweler Howard Ratner (Sandler) makes a high-stakes bet that could hopefully get him out of his crippling debt. But soon thereafter, his business, email, and adversaries get in the way, and Howard is forced to decide what he really wants. A twisted story with secrets and revenge. Directed by Benny and Josh Safdie, this film also stars Julia Fox, Idina Menzel and LaKeith Stanfield. You can watch this movie on Netflix. 1. 'Just Go With It' (2011) With hilarious moments, a gorgeous Hawaiian backdrop and a fresh take on family, this film takes the gold as Sandler's best. Starring Aniston, Nicole Kidman, Brooklyn Decker, Nick Swardson, Dave Matthews, and more, it follows Dr. Daniel Maccabe (Sandler) as he tries to win over Palmer's (Decker) heart by enlisting the help of his assistant Katherine (Aniston) and her kids. The group sets off to Hawaii, and what follows is a journey of mishaps with so many funny lines that it's almost impossible to keep up with. You can watch this movie on Prime Video. BBC 'masterpiece' period drama based on 'greatest book of all time' leaves viewers speechless

The BBC period drama is based on a very famous novel and has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score. A BBC TV adaptation of a very famous novel has caught the attention of impressed viewers who have branded it a "true masterpiece". There have been several adaptations of Charlotte Brontë's famous 1847 novel Jane Eyre, but one in particular has left fans raving. ‌ The BBC's adaptation of Jane Eyre follows the early life of the titular character, who is raised as a poor relation in the household of her aunt, Mrs. Reed. Jane receives cruel treatment from her aunt and cousins and is put into an orphanage. ‌ When she is old enough to work, she is hired by the housekeeper of Thornfield Hall, Mrs. Fairfax, to be a governess for young Adèle (Cosima Littlewood) at the country estate. However, when she becomes entangled with the brooding master of Thornfield Hall, Edward Fairfax Rochester, his dark past threatens to destroy their relationship. ‌ The four-episode show, which hit screens in 2006, is directed by Susanna White and written by Sandy Welch, the Express reports. Ruth Wilson stars as Jane while Toby Stephens portrays Edward. The cast also features Lorraine Ashbourne, Pam Ferris and Andrew Buchan. ‌ The BBC series was a hit with fans and dominated the 2007 award season, scooping up a BAFTA and three Primetime Emmy Awards. Jane Eyre currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It is based on Charlotte Brontë's book, which is widely considered to be one of the greatest novels of all time. Praising Brontë's work online, one wrote: "Everyone should be a fan of Jane Eyre, it's the greatest novel ever." ‌ Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! It is now my favorite. If you're thinking of reading it, do not hesitate and read it immediately because you'll regret the moments you spent without reading this masterpiece!" A third chimed in: "This is easily a five star book for me. I love the way that this is written— beautiful, descriptive, and brilliant. ‌ "Some may take the descriptive aspect as a weakness, but for me, it was an important addition to the emotional impact of the book. Story wise, I have no words. The angst of the plot will keep you going." Someone else wrote: "Jane Eyre (greatest novel of all time IMO". A fifth penned: "Marvellous!!! It really was and still is one of the best novels of all time." ‌ The series has also received similar levels of praise with one viewer declaring: "Okay but the 2006 BBC masterpiece Jane Eyre is…… I don't know, a perfect series." A second said: "I highly recommend Jane Eyre from 2006 or 2007 with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson, a true masterpiece." Another impressed fan questioned: "Is there a show out there that can possibly contend with the BBC 's 2006 miniseries masterpiece Jane Eyre? unlikely." ‌ Someone else commented: "This is the most beautiful adaptation of Jane Eyre. The acting is all round superb. "Eyre and Rochester are full of soul, something lacking in other depictions that only focus on the seriousness of the characters, often failing to portray their passion." Expressing their admiration for the show, a fifth added: "This show did not need to be this well done. They could've left it to be like other book tv show adaptations… yet they delivered!!! "They understood the assignment and did the extra credit!! They knew it could be the greatest, and aimed higher!! Loved the acting, loved the set, the music, the directing!! Everything is so good!"

Stephen Colbert announces 'Late Show' end as CBS blames finances

File Photo by Chris Chew. | License Photo July 17 (UPI) -- Stephen Colbert announced at the taping of Thursday's The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that the show will end after the 2025-26 season. Colbert said he found out last night. "The network will be ending The Late Show in May," Colbert says in a video shared to his Colbertlateshow and Stephenathome Instagrams. As the audience booed, Colbert agreed, "Yeah, I share your feelings. It's not just the end of our show but it's the end of The Late Show on CBS. I am not being replaced. This is all just going away." Colbert took over The Late Show in 2015 after David Letterman, who launched the show in 1993. In a statement Thursday, Paramount Global Co-CEO and CBS President and CEO George Cheeks, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios President David Stapf blamed the financial challenges of late night. "We consider Stephen Colbert irreplaceable and will retire The Late Show franchise," the statement read. "This is purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night. It is not related in any way to the show's performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount." In the clip, Colbert thanked CBS for being "great partners," as well as the audience and his band. He lamented the end of the talk show. "It is a fantastic job," Colbert said. "I wish somebody else was getting it. It's a job that I'm looking forward to doing with this usual gang of idiots for the next 10 months." The Late Show with Stephen Colbert airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. EDT on CBS.
