The BBC period drama is based on a very famous novel and has a perfect Rotten Tomatoes score.
A BBC TV adaptation of a very famous novel has caught the attention of impressed viewers who have branded it a "true masterpiece". There have been several adaptations of Charlotte Brontë's famous 1847 novel Jane Eyre, but one in particular has left fans raving.

The BBC's adaptation of Jane Eyre follows the early life of the titular character, who is raised as a poor relation in the household of her aunt, Mrs. Reed. Jane receives cruel treatment from her aunt and cousins and is put into an orphanage.

When she is old enough to work, she is hired by the housekeeper of Thornfield Hall, Mrs. Fairfax, to be a governess for young Adèle (Cosima Littlewood) at the country estate. However, when she becomes entangled with the brooding master of Thornfield Hall, Edward Fairfax Rochester, his dark past threatens to destroy their relationship.

The four-episode show, which hit screens in 2006, is directed by Susanna White and written by Sandy Welch, the Express reports.
Ruth Wilson stars as Jane while Toby Stephens portrays Edward. The cast also features Lorraine Ashbourne, Pam Ferris and Andrew Buchan.

The BBC series was a hit with fans and dominated the 2007 award season, scooping up a BAFTA and three Primetime Emmy Awards. Jane Eyre currently holds a 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
It is based on Charlotte Brontë's book, which is widely considered to be one of the greatest novels of all time.
Praising Brontë's work online, one wrote: "Everyone should be a fan of Jane Eyre, it's the greatest novel ever."

Another echoed: "I absolutely love and adore this book. It is now my favorite. If you're thinking of reading it, do not hesitate and read it immediately because you'll regret the moments you spent without reading this masterpiece!"
A third chimed in: "This is easily a five star book for me. I love the way that this is written— beautiful, descriptive, and brilliant.

"Some may take the descriptive aspect as a weakness, but for me, it was an important addition to the emotional impact of the book. Story wise, I have no words. The angst of the plot will keep you going."
Someone else wrote: "Jane Eyre (greatest novel of all time IMO".
A fifth penned: "Marvellous!!! It really was and still is one of the best novels of all time."

The series has also received similar levels of praise with one viewer declaring: "Okay but the 2006 BBC masterpiece Jane Eyre is…… I don't know, a perfect series."
A second said: "I highly recommend Jane Eyre from 2006 or 2007 with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson, a true masterpiece."
Another impressed fan questioned: "Is there a show out there that can possibly contend with the BBC 's 2006 miniseries masterpiece Jane Eyre? unlikely."

Someone else commented: "This is the most beautiful adaptation of Jane Eyre. The acting is all round superb.
"Eyre and Rochester are full of soul, something lacking in other depictions that only focus on the seriousness of the characters, often failing to portray their passion."
Expressing their admiration for the show, a fifth added: "This show did not need to be this well done. They could've left it to be like other book tv show adaptations… yet they delivered!!!
"They understood the assignment and did the extra credit!! They knew it could be the greatest, and aimed higher!! Loved the acting, loved the set, the music, the directing!! Everything is so good!"

Alex Jones shares heartbreaking family update as celeb pal steps in to help in emergency

Welsh TV presenter Alex Jones called on a close celebrity friend to help during a family emergency, with the One Show host describing him as the "light at the end of a pretty scary 24 hours" Welsh BBC star Alex Jones has shared a heartbreaking update on her family's pet, after she called on a celebrity pal to help her in her emergency. The One Show host, 48, shared her harrowing experience on social media, telling her followers Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick saved the day. ‌ She described her friend as the "light at the end of a pretty scary 24 hours" after she found her new pet in pain after being hit by a car. Alex told her fans: "We think our gorgeous little kitten, Sabrina was hit by a car yesterday evening but despite breaking her pelvis, she managed to crawl back to the house to tell us that she was hurt. ‌ "After overnight emergency care, she is now with @profnoelfitzpatrick at his hospital where I'm certain she will receive the best care possible." Posing for a selfie with Noel, Alex added: "My brilliant friend @profnoelfitzpatrick has been the light at the end of a pretty scary 24 hours." ‌ Mum-of-three Alex announced to her fans that her family had adopted their kitten Sabrina in March this year. She, her husband Charlie Thomson and their children Kit, Teddy and Annie, said they were "obsessed" with their "most perfect little kitty kat." Their new addition joined their growing family, after she revealed last year that t hey had also welcomed a new puppy into the fold. Charlie had shocked his family with the heartwarming surprise, with Alex expressing her feelings to her followers. ‌ In a fit of excitement, Alex shared: "Big news!!! There is a new addition to the family and it was a COMPLETE SURPRISE (thanks Charlie). "It was a huge shock but I've fallen head over heels with little Scout, we all have. The children's faces were a picture!!! I've never had a dog before so any puppy advice would be most welcome." In the video, taken in her sprawling garden, Alex introduced her pup to fans saying: "So I have a bit of news. On Monday night, and it's taking me a few days to process it, I came home here and Charlie was standing in the middle of the drive with what I thought was a jumper in his hands. And then this black jumper moved.' ‌ She continued: "I got out of the car and I said, 'Whose dog is that?' And he said, 'Ours'. We have a new arrival. Look, we have a new little baby. "This is Scout. Say hi. 'Hi everybody, hello'. He's 10 and a half weeks old. I absolutely love him. He's gorgeous." ‌ But Alex recently opened up about one of her husband's habits that gets under her skin, claiming his love of The Simpsons sends her "into a spin." In a candid chat on their Binge! podcast, she told McFly star Harry Judd that Charlie loves to watch the animated show, and has also introduced to their eight year old son Teddy. However, she believes it's "not suitable" for kids, with the show usually being given a PG or 12 rating in the UK. She told Harry: "I hate The Simpsons. That, what's his name [Homer], I hate him. "It's because Charlie keeps putting it on. He's the antithesis of me, he absolutely loves it, and he has now started showing it to Ted and it's just not suitable. It sends me into a spin every time I walk into the room and the bloody Simpsons is on. No."

Strictly's Craig Revel Horwood says he's been forced to ‘mellow' harsh comments through fear of being ‘cancelled'

STRICTLY Come Dancing's sharp-tongued judge Craig Revel Horwood has admitted he's "mellowed" his straight-talking critique to avoid being "cancelled." It came just months after the show's longest-serving judge launched an astonishing attack on his fellow BBC judges, as reported exclusively by The Sun. 6 6 6 At the time Craig, 60, blasted Shirley Ballas, 64, Anton Du Beke, 58, and Motsi Mabuse, 43, and claimed he alone was behind the show's continuing success. Now he has admitted he tries to "tag a positive" onto every negative comment about a celebrity's dance skills. The pro said: "Back 21 years ago I could be more direct but now what I do is be honest and upfront with the contestants about their routine like I am with anything, I am honest, and with Strictly I am honest but then I will try tag a positive onto the end of it." He added to MailOnline: "I generally do one point now where it's a negative and a point that's positive just to help them build and grow and give them more confidence. "As long as I am honest and not being harsh for effect and telling the truth about the dance then no one can really go against that. "You will only be cancelled if you're being untoward in that way or doing it for effect or your own personal gain but that isn't my case and never will be." Last year, Craig - who often attracts pantomime 'boos' from Strcitly's live audience - admitted that he had toned down his judging style as it would not be allowed today. He said: 'I was really harsh 20 years ago. When I look back, I think, 'Ooh, that's cutting'. 'It would now be classed as bullying, and then I'd be cancelled.' Watch the moment Chris McCausland hits out at Craig Revel Horwood on Strictly telling him 'this is your opportunity to be nice' Former Strictly show pro Ola Jordan recently claimed Craig had "lost his sparkle" due to toning down his approach. He was even seen fighting back tears last series after an emotional routine from eventual-winner Chris McCausland and Dianne Buswell. STRICTLY SCANDALS His attitude change came after former Strictly pro Giovanni Pernice was under investigation by the BBC over misconduct after last year. The same investigation also saw fellow after allegations of "physical incidents" towards show partner Zara McDermott. Giovanni quit the BBC show last year. In October, the BBC released their findings into his conduct, upholding six of the 17 allegations of bullying made by Sherlock actress Amanda Abbington from her time as his 2023 partner. Giovanni was cleared on the other 11, but the BBC still apologised to Amanda for her experience. CLAP BACK Craig, a Strictly veteran of 21 years, was pulling no punches on the first night of his UK tour, Revelations: Songs Boys Don't Sing. In a comment writing off original head judge Len Goodman and axed Arlene Phillips, acid-tongued Craig said: 'There is no other judge. I created it. They are either dead or have been sacked.' Playing up to his notoriety, he added: 'I get booed heavily but I enjoy playing the villain.' He joked that his comments about Len, who died in 2023 aged 78, and Arlene, 81, who was axed in 2009, and the later judges would help him sell tickets for the show. Craig laughed: 'We are going to be in the news. We need it as this is the beginning of the tour and we need to sell the tour.' Craig, paid around £200,000 a year for Strictly, went on to rap the Beeb for making him change the name of his third autobiography. 6 6 6

Saturday Kitchen star addresses absence as they make BBC return

On the latest instalment of BBC's Saturday Kitchen, host Matt Tebbutt was quick to welcome back his co-star. Saturday Kitchen host Matt Tebbutt was thrilled to welcome back a much-loved figure on the BBC show. ‌ During the most recent instalment, the presenter wasted no time in addressing the absence of wine expert Olly Smith. ‌ As Charlie Stayt and Naga Munchetty handed over to Matt during BBC Breakfast to discover what was happening in his show, the 51-year-old turned his attention to his colleague. ‌ Matt commented: "He's back! Olly Smith, where have you been all my life?!" Olly replied: "Oh well, all your life! Well, over the last few weeks, I've had a triple threat of writing, going to weddings, and festivals." ‌ The Saturday Kitchen host questioned whether or not the nuptials were fun to attend. He added: "They were actually to be fair, I was going to be mean, but no, they were really lovely. I mean, who doesn't love to celebrate love?" Usually, BBC viewers are used to seeing Olly alternate on Saturday Kitchen with fellow wine expert Helen McGinn. ‌ Over the past few weeks, Helen has been holding down the fort, with Olly's last appearance on the show before taking a brief break being June 14. Currently, there's speculation that Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebbutt could be the new face of MasterChef, following the axing of John Torode and Gregg Wallace. ‌ A source told The Sun: "Matt is seen as a really safe pair of hands by the BBC. He has been in the frame for some time and is now being lined up for MasterChef. The BBC are keen to bring Andi Oliver on board too. She has been so popular as host of the Great British Menu." They further added: "They're not sure if she can commit at this stage because of her schedule with that show, but everyone is hoping they can get her on board. Everyone loves Andi, and she would be perfect for the role in many ways. "She is very talented on her own merit, but she would also help bring a more diverse look to the show, which is much needed. The last thing the show wants is to be slapped with being 'pale, and stale' by a new generation of food lovers." The presenting change comes as former hosts John and Gregg were both axed by the BBC after an investigation upheld allegations about them both in regards to "inappropriate behaviour".
