With more than 80 movies and TV shows to his name, actor Adam Sandler is no stranger to the silver screen. He has earned three Grammy Awards, five Primetime Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Most recently, he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2023 and People's Icon Award in 2024. On top of all of that, back in 2011, Sandler was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Now, with Happy Gilmore 2 premiering today, July 25, 2025—a long-awaited sequel nearly 30 years in the making—fans are revisiting his funniest and most iconic roles.
But despite all of those awards and honors, he is best known for his hilarious voice and unbeatable line delivery. First appearing on Saturday Night Live from 1990 to 1995, Sandler has remained a force to be reckoned with in the movie industry ever since.
And here, we have ranked the 13 best Adam Sandler movies of all time.
13. 'Murder Mystery' (2019)
Sandler teamed with award-winning actress Jennifer Aniston for the second time in this laugh-out-loud cozy mystery. The duo travels to Europe for their anniversary, but things go south when people keep showing up dead. It won a People's Choice Award for Favorite Comedic Movie, and its sequel was released in 2023.
You can watch this movie on Netflix.
12. 'Hotel Transylvania' (2012)
In this family-friendly film, Sandler voices Dracula, a father determined to protect his daughter Mavis (Selena Gomez) from the outside world. To do that, he builds her a monsters-only hotel. Thanks to his voice talents, Sandler shines here. It also stars David Spade, Andy Samberg, Steve Buscemi and Kevin James, and went on to have four sequel movies.

11. 'Longest Yard' (2005)
After Sandler's character, disgraced football quarterback Paul Crewe, ends up in jail and devises a plan to beat the cruel prison guards at a rigged tackle football game. But he can't do it without the help of ex-NFL coach Nate Scarborough (Burt Reynolds). Filled with laughter, heart and sports, this film has something for everyone.
You can watch the movie on Paramount+.
10. 'Big Daddy' (1999)
Costarring alongside Dylan and Cole Sprouse, Sandler plays their dad, who has no ambition but is forced to really step up and take care of his kids in order to impress his ex-girlfriend. Lots of laughs and dealing with second chances, the film allows Sandler to capture viewers' hearts. Rob Schinder and Leslie Mann also appear.

9. 'The Waterboy' (1998)
With stars like Kathy Bates, Peter Dante, Henry Winkler and more, this movie might be one of Sandler's most underrated films. After going from waterboy to linebacker, Bobby Boucher Jr (Sandler) steps up to the plate, and soon a once-losing team has a chance at the championship. This movie is perfect for fans of Sandler's other sports comedy movies.
You can watch this movie on Hulu.
8. 'Billy Madison' (1995)
In his first movie after leaving Saturday Night Live, Sandler decided to do what he did best: make viewers laugh with his hilarious voice and wit. The last thing man-child Billy Madison (Sandler) wants to do is go back and redo kindergarten through 12th grade, but he has no choice. If he doesn't, his father's business will go to Billy's worst enemy, Eric (Bradley Whitford).
You can watch this movie on Prime Video.
7. 'Blended' (2014)
In Sandler's latest film with Drew Barrymore, the two set off on a dream vacation to Africa with their kids. The only problem? They have to pretend to be in a relationship despite the fact that they hate each other. Or do they? With things like safaris, elephant sightings and even Shaquille O'Neal, this movie captured viewers' hearts and didn't let it go.
You can watch this movie on Hulu.
6. 'Happy Gilmore' (1996)
After a failed hockey career, Happy Gilmore (Sandler) decides to try to win the PGA golf tournament to help his grandma (Frances Bay) out with her house payments. And with the help of his mentor, Chubbs (Carl Weathers), Happy may just pull it off. A hilarious movie that somehow made golf a lot more entertaining for non-fans of the sport.
You can watch this movie on Prime Video.
5. 'The Wedding Singer' (1998)
This was the first team-up between Sandler and Berrymore, but it certainly was not the last! Set in 1985, Robbie Hart (Sandler) is a wedding singer who ironically was left at the altar by his fiancée. He meets Julia Sullivan (Barrymore), who hires Robbie to help plan her wedding. Now Robbie must stop Julia from marrying the wrong guy in the hopes that she will end up with him instead. What follows is lots of shenanigans and even a song performed by Sandler himself.
You can watch this movie on Prime Video.
4. 'Grown Ups' (2010)
It was the team-up everyone had been waiting for: Sandler starring alongside James, Spade, Chris Rock, Rob Schneider, Salma Hayek, Maya Rudolph, and more! In the film, after their childhood basketball coach dies, five friends decide to head out to a lakeside cabin with their families for the Fourth of July. What could go wrong? This movie also had a sequel, Grown Ups 2, which came out in 2013.
You can watch this movie on Prime Video.
3. '50 First Dates' (2004)
Set in breathtaking Hawaii, Barrymore plays a woman (Lucy Whitmore) who can't remember anything from the day before, but despite this, Henry Roth (Sandler) sets his sights on her and does everything in his power to get her to remember him, much to everyone else's dismay. Barrymore and Sandler's chemistry reaches new highs in this rom-com.
You can watch this movie on Prime Video.
2. 'Uncut Gems' (2019)
Sandler's ability to become a serious actor, not just a comedian, shocked viewers with this film. Jeweler Howard Ratner (Sandler) makes a high-stakes bet that could hopefully get him out of his crippling debt. But soon thereafter, his business, email, and adversaries get in the way, and Howard is forced to decide what he really wants. A twisted story with secrets and revenge. Directed by Benny and Josh Safdie, this film also stars Julia Fox, Idina Menzel and LaKeith Stanfield.
You can watch this movie on Netflix.
1. 'Just Go With It' (2011)
With hilarious moments, a gorgeous Hawaiian backdrop and a fresh take on family, this film takes the gold as Sandler's best. Starring Aniston, Nicole Kidman, Brooklyn Decker, Nick Swardson, Dave Matthews, and more, it follows Dr. Daniel Maccabe (Sandler) as he tries to win over Palmer's (Decker) heart by enlisting the help of his assistant Katherine (Aniston) and her kids. The group sets off to Hawaii, and what follows is a journey of mishaps with so many funny lines that it's almost impossible to keep up with.

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps': Marvel finally made a movie you don't need a guide to follow

MoviesFacebookTweetLink Follow Maybe 'superhero fatigue' is a thing of the past – with DC's 'Superman' still soaring in theaters, Marvel's 'Fantastic Four' reboot is set to join the fun this weekend, with positive momentum. The new movie featuring Marvel's First Family, as they're known, is not a sequel, prequel, spinoff or crossover, but a fresh take on a historic group of superheroes. No prior Marvelpedia knowledge is required to enjoy. That might sound like no big deal, but after 2023's 'The Marvels,' this spring's fourth 'Captain America' movie and 'Thunderbolts*' all underperformed by Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) standards, the new 'Fantastic Four' may offer broader audience appeal by not pulling from other franchises. And while there are definite Easter eggs (this is a comic book movie based on characters dating back to 1961, after all), the movie is what you'd call no-strings-attached fun. Most of that has to do with a welcome course-correction after the last two attempts at 'Fantastic Four' (there was the suite of Chris Evans/Jessica Alba-starring movies from the aughts, followed by a largely forgettable attempt featuring Miles Teller a decade ago). This go-round is highly stylized as a retro-futuristic world a la The Jetsons (where is that movie, by the way?) that honors the 1960s-era origins of the titular foursome. There's also a game cast, including Pedro Pascal, whose three films out this season – oh wait, make that four – still feel like not enough Pedro. Add to that Vanessa Kirby, 'Stranger Things' breakout Joseph Quinn – plus 'The Bear's' Ebon-Moss Bachrach as perhaps the most charming of the quartet, even though he's covered in a rocky mug – and the result is an engaging movie that focuses on family (in addition to some intergalactic baddies). 'First Steps' doesn't even refer to the Four by their decidedly silly superhero names (the Human Torch does sound like an obsolete infomercial product, if we're being honest), but rather introduces them as a man, his wife, his best friend and his brother-in-law. They exhibit their superpowers, but their collective expertise as scientists and astronauts prove equally valuable. After a busy and tumultuous few years in the ever-sprawling MCU, fans and casual viewers alike will have a breather after this weekend's release, since 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day,' the studio's next major theatrical tentpole, isn't coming out for another full calendar year and change. With any luck, that will be just enough time for everyone to get another round of zzz's before another dizzying superhero superstorm commences. 'The Fantastic Four: First Steps' is out in theaters Friday. 'Superman' is distributed by Warner Bros., which is owned by CNN's parent company.

Netflix is removing 48 movies next week — here are the 5 you need to watch right now

The first of the month brings with it plenty of new movies on Netflix, but there's a price to pay for these new watchlist options. As the streaming service adds new content to its library, it also removes a sizeable chunk of titles to make some room. On Friday, Aug. 1, Netflix is set to remove almost 50 movies, and that includes some big hitters, including one of Christopher Nolan's very best efforts, and some of the most iconic features from the legendary Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. So, before you turn your attention to what's new on Netflix in August, be sure to check out these excellent movies before they wave goodbye to the big red streamer (at least for now, streaming platforms are always rotating content, so perhaps they will return a little way down the road). Picking Christopher Nolan's best movie is a thankless task, but for me, 'Dunkirk' would most definitely be up there. This ultra-tense war movie boasts some of the director's most stunning camerawork, and the bombastic soundscape will have your entire living room vibrating. Plus, it's all set to a powerful score by the legendary Hans Zimmer. If there's one area where 'Dunkirk' has proved divisive, it's the core story. Its nonlinear structure won't work for everybody, and there's a lack of truly compelling characters. However, it does a fantastic job of capturing an atmosphere of fear and chaos. Set during World War II, it depicts the evacuation of Dunkirk beach from multiple perspectives and showcases a military operation that saved hundreds of thousands of Allied soldiers. Watch "Dunkirk" on Netflix until August 1 The frozen peak of Mount Everest is pretty much the perfect setting for a survival thriller, and so the creatively-titled 'Everest' proves to be. Starring Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, Robin Wright, Keira Knightley, Sam Worthington and Jake Gyllenhaal, it's inspired by a real-life disaster in 1996, which saw eight climbers die when attempting to descend from the summit. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. 'Everest' packs plenty of sweeping vistas which showcase the beauty of the world's tallest mountain, but very quickly the picturesque setting becomes anything but pretty, as the destructive force of Mother Nature throws two groups of climbers into a desperate battle for survival. The movie's narrative chops aren't anything truly original, but the cast is packed with talent, and it's very easy to get invested in the climber's plight as you hope they can reach safety before it's too late. Watch "Everest" on Netflix until August 1 I'm more than a little surprised to see 'Happy Gilmore' playing its final round on Netflix this week. Netflix has just released the long-in-the-making sequel, so you'd have thought the streaming service would have been very eager to keep the original available so fans could marathon both. Of course, streaming rights are a thorny issue, so this is likely a decision out of Netflix's hands rather than anything the platform bosses have opted to do themselves. If you've never seen, or somehow never heard of, this Adam Sandler '90s comedy classic, it launched at the height of his popularity, and sees the goofball actor play the anonymous Happy Gilmore. Gilmore is an aspiring hockey player who can't quite make the grade due to his subpar skating skills and hotheaded temper. In need of money to prevent his grandma from losing her home, he puts his slapshot skills to use and tries to become a pro golfer. Watch "Happy Gilmore" on Netflix until August 1 I'm pretty disheartened to see that Netflix is removing the majority of its collection of Hitchcock movies on August 1. This includes 'Psycho,' 'The Birds, 'The Man Who Knew Too Much,' and my personal favorite, 'Rear Window.' This classic thriller has been a must-watch for more than 70 years, and its influence on the mystery genre is still felt to this very day. The movie marked the second collaboration between James Stewart and Alfred Hitchcock, and sees Stewart play a photojournalist confined to his humid apartment after breaking his leg during an assignment. With little to do other than watch the world go by from his front window, he soon becomes convinced his neighbor has committed a terrible murder. The flick is a masterclass in slowly ratcheting tension, and it plays with perspective in some clever ways. After all, we only see what's happening from Jeff's limited vantage point. Watch "Rear Window" on Netflix until August 1 'The Lego Movie' was the brickbuster I always wanted as a kid. I spent my youth watching (and making my own) Lego stop-motion videos, so this 2014 animated movie evoked a whole heap of nostalgia the first time I saw it in theaters. But even if you don't have a deep connection with the Danish construction toy, it's still a hugely entertaining family flick that's bursting with zany humor, ridiculous characters and some of the best animation around. 'The Lego Movie' follows the adventures of an average mini-figure called Emmet (voiced by Chris Pratt). He lives in the city of Bricksburg and lives an unadventurous life. But this world is shattered when he stumbles upon the mysterious 'Piece of Resistance' and becomes the only hope of saving the entire Lego universe from the evil Lord Business (Will Ferrell). Teaming up with master builders Wyldstyle (Elizabeth Banks) and Vitruvius (Morgan Freeman), it's now up to the clueless Emmet to save the day without falling to pieces. Watch "The Lego Movie" on Netflix until August 1
