Case of an adulterous wife forbidden to see her girls
KUWAIT CITY, May 29: The Misdemeanor Court acquitted a Kuwaiti citizen of preventing his exwife, who was convicted of adultery, from seeing her minor daughters and the court declared her guilty of endangering their lives, causing them psychological harm and neglecting them. Attorney Zaid Al-Khabbaz, who appeared with the citizen in court, requested his client's acquittal. His client denied the accusation, clarifying that his client prevented the complainant from seeing his children because she was accused of adultery, which she had admitted. He also stated that he feared for his daughters' safety due to the behavior of the complainant. The court confirmed in its reasoning that the citizen did not prevent his daughters from seeing their mother due to his own whims, but rather out of fear that they would follow their mother's shameful and ugly behavior. The court stated that the Child Protection Office report included numerous expressions from which the court inferred the girls' hatred and loathing for their mother who was setting a bad example for her daughters. The court feared that if the accused was punished, the complainant would be able to see the girls; something that should not happen in light of her shameful and ugly behavior, from which the girls should be kept safe.

Jail for Kuwaiti man, Gulf woman overturned in ‘indecent act' case
KUWAIT CITY, March 6: The Misdemeanor Court overturned the ruling issued to imprison a Kuwaiti man and a Gulf woman to three-month imprisonment following their appearance in a video clip, widely known as 'Range Rover' on social media in which they can be seen engaging in a public indecent act in Bneid Al-Gar. Following the cancellation of their sentences, the court refrained from imposing any further punishment on the individuals involved. The case began with an investigation officer from Qadisiya Police Station detaining the first defendant for appearing in the video clip, which featured the indecent act at a parking lot near the Arabian Gulf Street in Bneid Al-Gar and had gained attention on social media. The video clip showed a white Range Rover vehicle, with the defendant standing next to it and publicly hugging and kissing a woman whose features were not visible. Lawyer In'am Haider, who represented the Gulf woman during the court session, argued that the judgment issued in absentia was invalid, as the defendant had not been properly notified of the trial session with a legal announcement. The lawyer also contended that the elements of the crime of public indecency were not present, asserting that the defendant had no connection to the incident. In addition, lawyer Haider questioned the validity of the investigators' work, claiming it lacked seriousness.

Kuwaiti Jailed for Chasing and Crashing into Wife's Family's Car
KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: The Misdemeanor Court has sentenced a Kuwaiti citizen to one year of hard labor in prison for deliberately chasing and crashing into his wife's family's vehicle in the streets of Ahmadi Governorate in October 2024. The court found the accused guilty of three charges: intentionally damaging the victims' vehicle, reckless and negligent driving that endangered lives, and deliberately obstructing traffic. The case was brought to trial after the man's wife filed a complaint, stating that while she was traveling with her brother, sister, and children, her husband spotted them, pursued their vehicle, and repeatedly crashed into it in an attempt to force them to stop. The attack was reportedly motivated by ongoing family disputes. The victims' attorney, Khalil Haidar, confirmed that the court carefully reviewed the case details, examined the evidence, and considered both the defendant's confession and witness testimonies before reaching its verdict.

Mabrouk, you have won a lottery!
KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: The Misdemeanor Court has acquitted two people and decided to imprison another for swindling a Kuwaiti citizen by making the latter believe that he won a lottery through WhatsApp. The Public Prosecution had earlier charged the defendants with deceiving the victim and forcing him to hand over money by making him believe that he won the grand prize in the form of a treasure. Case files indicate that while the victim was in an Arab country, he was defrauded by the accused and another unknown person. He received a call from an African country through WhatsApp, stating he won a treasure and asked him to transfer money to the other accused in Kuwait. When he requested a refund, another accused contacted him and asked him to accompany the accused to his residence to return the money, but he got afraid and did not go with him. When one of the accused was interrogated, he denied the accusations and insisted that he had no relationship with the other accused. He said he received part of the amount through a call from the other accused. He then requested his relative -- an African, to get the money from the accused in Kuwait and transfer it to a person residing in Senegal whom he did not know. When asked about the benefit he got, he asserted that he merely provided the service and had no benefit from the transaction. Attorney Bashar Al-Nassar, lawyer for one of the accused, argued that there was no material element of fraud; stressing his client did not take any action to deceive the victim into handing over the money. He added his client was not involved, emphasizing that the other accused just asked his client to receive the money from another person and transfer the amount to him. He based his final argument on his client's lack of knowledge of the supposed fraud.
