‘Duck Dynasty' Star Miss Kay Doing ‘So Much Better' After Health Scare

Duck Dynasty matriarch Miss Kay faced a series of health struggles after the death of her husband, Phil Robertston, on May 25. But today, Miss Kay is in better health—both mentally and physically. Here we take a look at the 77-year-old's struggles with depression and a serious fall, plus share an update on how the reality TV star is doing today. Miss Kay makes an 'unbelievable' health comeback In an interview with Fox News Digital on July 16, Phil and Miss Kay's son, Willie Robertson, shared a positive update on her health. "She is doing so much better," Willie said. "It's unbelievable how she made the turn. I think she was just really kind of depressed after Phil passed away. You know, you've been with somebody for 60 years, over 60 years, so just losing her soulmate and she is getting older.' 'She was struggling with that a bit, but man, she's bounced back, and she just went to church,' he continued. 'I think she's going out of town this weekend. She's traveling more. She's on our show.' Willie's wife, Korie Roberston, joked, 'She was on the 'Duck Call Room' podcast, and she said it was a proof of life video." Korie continued, 'She's been with us for a few things that we've been filming this week. So that's been really special… But yeah, she is getting older, and that comes with health issues, but she's doing really well." Miss Kay suffered previous health issues In April, Miss Kay's health had taken a downward turn following a fall that ultimately led to her being hospitalized. "She got an infection from a fall from a cut that had happened earlier," her son Jase Roberston, 55, explained on the Unashamed with the Robertson Family podcast. "We were dealing with the fact that maybe this is it." Miss Kay recovered from the infection, but soon faced more hardships as her husband Phil battled with Alzheimer's disease. Five months after the Robertson's made Phil's Alzheimer's diagnosis public, they announced his passing on social media. The Duck Dynasty patriarch died at 79, days before the premiere of Duck Dynasty: The Revival. 'We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again,' Korie Robertson wrote to Duck Dynasty fans on Facebook. "We know so many of you love him and have been impacted by his life. We're having a private service for now, but we'll share details soon about a public celebration of his life." She struggled after her husband Phil's death Fans mourned the passing of Phil, sending love and prayers to the family amid the release of Duck Dynasty: The Revival. Miss Kay didn't attend the series premiere on June 1 in Monroe, Louisiana which concerned Duck Dynasty lovers. "Kay is not in the best of health," Willie, 53, told USA Today in an interview on June 5. "We're trying to help her out as much as we can." He said that many of Miss Kay's health struggles were related to Phil's passing. "Some of it is she is just depressed," he added. "She lost her partner of 60 years." "Mom was on the show at the beginning, so we have some sweet moments with her," Willie said. While Miss kay made an appearance in an early episode of the Duck Dynasty reboot, she was unable to be in later episodes due to her health. Want to read more about the Robertsons? Keep scrolling! New Mom in Paris Breaks Down During Postpartum. Her Mom and Sister Fly in from the U.S. to Surprise Her (Exclusive)

'I knew I needed the village…not just to recover physically, but to be mentally well. To feel whole,' Janet tells PEOPLE Janet remembers the exact moment she broke. Alone in her Paris apartment, exhausted and holding her newborn, she turned to her husband through tears and said, 'I need my mom.' 'I literally broke down in tears, begging my husband for help,' she tells PEOPLE. 'I cried out for my mom.' In that moment, Janet didn't know that help was already on the way. Her mother, Miss Kay, and sister, Jessica, were in the air, flying from the United States to Paris to be by her side. The emotional moment when they arrived, caught on camera by Jessica and shared on TikTok, quickly struck a chord online. The text over the now-viral video reads: 'POV: Postpartum. Alone. Struggling. Then your mom and sister show up at your door. Flew across the world just to hold you. This is what love looks like.' 'I didn't feel like myself. I didn't feel like I belonged,' Janet says of her early postpartum days. 'You're home with another human, and you're like, 'What am I doing?'' Her husband, she says, was supportive and present. But there was something deeper she needed. 'Even though he was there, I needed them,' she says of her mom and sister. 'I needed that maternal, guided support.' The plan had always been for them to be there. But standby travel and flight delays meant Miss Kay and Jessica couldn't make it in time for the baby's arrival. 'I just expected them to be there,' Janet says. 'But they weren't, and that Friday, I broke down.' One week later, Janet opened the door to see her mom and sister standing there, unannounced and arms wide open. It was exactly what she had been praying for. 'So when I saw them, it was relief,' she says. 'Whatever was heavy on my shoulders just dropped.' Jessica had started filming the moment on instinct, not expecting it to go viral. 'I didn't expect the reaction we received,' she says. 'I started recording not because I knew it would go viral, but because something told me to capture it.' The surprise had been difficult to pull off. 'We talk every day, we even share location,' Jessica says, laughing. 'So trying to keep the secret was hard.' As soon as they stepped inside, they jumped into action. Janet remembers them saying, 'Okay, take a shower, go to sleep. We got it for the night.' She hadn't realized how much she needed that kind of care. That moment, she says, was about more than just help. It was about being held. 'It's that love that shows up,' Janet says. 'From having a baby to battling sickness, Black women know how to carry each other.' Miss Kay, who grew up as one of 15 siblings, says she learned early what it means to show up. 'I thought I didn't need anyone when I had my first child either,' she says. 'But once that baby comes, everything changes. You do need your mother. You do need help.' Janet says she always prided herself on being independent. But becoming a mother changed that. 'I've always been independent. I never really asked for help,' she says. 'But when I got pregnant, everyone said, 'You'll need us,' and I was like, 'No, I've got this.' But I didn't.' Motherhood, she says, shifted her understanding of strength. 'The dynamic of the strong Black woman has shifted for me in the transition to motherhood,' she says. 'You can still be strong and ask for help.' Shortly after their visit, Janet made the decision to temporarily move back to the United States. She wanted to be close to her village. 'I knew I needed the village,' she says. 'Not just to recover physically, but to be mentally well. To feel whole.' And she wasn't alone. After the video circulated, Janet began receiving messages from women around the world. 'Women reached out from Paris, other Americans living abroad, saying, 'I've been there. I know,' ' she says. 'One woman even came and did my hair at my apartment.' Jessica says her goal was simple. She wanted to help. 'When we got there, it was all about how I could help,' she says. 'Cleaning, the fridge stocked, meals prepped. Just whatever we could do in the short time we had.' She says that instinct came from her own story. 'When I had my first baby at 21, I had no idea what to do,' Jessica says. 'My aunt came and stayed for a month. What I did for Janet is exactly what they did for me.' Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Thousands of women responded to Janet's post, sharing their own stories of being overwhelmed during postpartum. 'Women kept saying, 'I wish someone had told me how hard this is,' ' Janet says. 'Others said, 'I needed my mom too.' It was almost like a collective sigh.' Miss Kay believes the video helped give women permission to admit they need help. 'It's okay to ask for help,' she says. 'They don't always know what they need. Sometimes you just have to show up and hold the baby.' Jessica agrees. 'Just listen. They'll tell you what they need without even meaning to,' she says. 'And if you don't know, just do.' Janet says she is still in the middle of it. Still learning. Still tired. 'I'm still in it,' she says. 'I'm still crying, still breastfeeding, still figuring out motherhood. It's overwhelming, even with help.' There are days when she feels like she's falling short. When feedings are frustrating and sleep is scarce. 'But I'm doing my best,' she says. 'And I've realized that has to be enough.' Now, when she watches the video, she sees more than a memory. She sees a message. 'It's a sacred circle,' she says. 'That moment between women, it's vulnerability, love and legacy. It's motherhood in motion.' She hopes other mothers can see themselves in it too. 'That moment changed everything,' Janet says. 'It taught me I don't have to carry it all alone. And I don't want other women to think they have to either.' Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword

Duck Dynasty star has 'unbelievable' health comeback... two months after death of 'soulmate' Phil Robertson

Duck Dynasty star Miss Kay has made an 'unbelievable' health comeback two months after her husband Phil Robertson 's heartbreaking death. The TV personality, 77, was 'depressed' after her partner of 60 years passed away on May 20 at the age of 79 due to a battle with Alzheimer's. Last month in June, her son Willie revealed that she was 'not in the best of health' as she mourned the loss of her husband and Duck Dynasty monarch. However, he recently joined wife Korie to offer a positive update on his mother during an interview with Fox News Digital published on Wednesday. 'She is doing so much better. It's unbelievable how she made the turn. I think she was just really kind of depressed after Phil passed away,' Willie told the outlet. 'You know, you've been with somebody for 60 years, over 60 years, so just losing her soulmate and she is getting older.' Willie added that his mother had been 'struggling' with Phil's death but has since 'bounced back, and she just went to church. I think she's going out of town this weekend. She's traveling more. She's on our show.' Korie also expressed how Miss Kay made an appearance on the Duck Call Room podcast this month as 'a proof of life video.' She further said that Kay has 'been with us for a few things that we've been filming this week. So that's been really special. 'And, you know, that's a special part about our show. We feel like it's just getting to do it with our family and getting to spend that time together.' Willie also reflected on his father's passing and stated, 'We were just happy knowing that he's gone on to be with the Lord, and he was so secure in that. 'That's pretty much all he talked about his whole life was whenever it ended, the faith and hope that he had. 'Also with Alzheimer's - the bad part is you have to watch them go down, but I think it does prepare you and I think she may have been even in denial, you know, like that it was actually gonna happen.' Willie explained that Kay 'just had to deal with it' but 'stuck close to the family.' The reality star continued, 'We were all there and all around her, and she was with different family members and just took care of her friends and the relationships she had.' He then expressed gratitude that his mother is able to have 'brighter days' but admitted not having his father around has left 'a big void.' 'And I know them two were so together in pretty much everything that they did, so I know it was hard for her.' Last month in June shortly after Phil's death, Willie candidly shared to USA Today Network that Kay was 'not in the best of health' and loved ones are 'trying to help her out as much as we can.' And in April before her husband's death, Jase Robertson had also opened up about Kay's health on an episode of the Unashamed With The Robertson Family podcast. 'She got an infection from a fall from a cut that had happened earlier,' he said at the time. 'We were dealing with the fact that maybe this is it.' Earlier this month, Kay made a surprise appearance on the Duck Call Room podcast where she said, 'I'm tired of being dead.' Al Robertson - who was also on the episode - opened up about false AI reports about his mother's and Si Robertson's deaths. 'Tales of your demise have been greatly exaggerated, 'cause you're here today. So this is the proof of life video,' he said. They also reflected on Phil's passing, with Al saying, 'Obviously this was an hard deal for all of us, but it was especially hard for Mom.' He then brought up the moment when Kay went back to church for the first time since her husband's death - and how she had shocked how others told her how well she looked. 'She said, "I'm tired of people saying how good I look. My husband just died. It's not like I'm back on the market."' Al added, 'I was like, Mom, they're not saying, "Do you wanna date?" they're saying, "You look amazing."' But Kay chimed in with, 'Well, I thought I should look sad.' Nearly two months earlier, Phil's family issued a statement on Facebook to announce Phil's death after a battle with Alzheimer's in his final months. 'We celebrate today that our father, husband, and grandfather, Phil Robertson, is now with the Lord,' Willie's daughter-in-law Korie had written. 'Thank you for the love and prayers of so many whose lives have been impacted by his life saved by grace, his bold faith, and by his desire to tell everyone who would listen the Good News of Jesus.' She then added, 'We are grateful for his life on earth and will continue the legacy of love for God and love for others until we see him again.' In the months leading up to Phil's passing, both the late star and wife Kay had been residing at the same facility together, which Jase explained on the podcast. 'My dad's not doing great overall, and my mom is not doing great physically. She has to have pretty much 24/7 professional healthcare, but my dad, it's like .. he's been so much calmer since she came back.' He continued, 'They're in a facility where there are other people, but they have their own little private room - it's great - and so, they're helping each other, so that's been positive.' Other family members jumped to social media to pay tribute to Phil such as Willie and Jep Robertson, and the late star's granddaughter Sadie. Sadie recently revealed the last words her grandfather had told her on Instagram and said: 'One of the last things he said to me was "full strength ahead!" Amen!' It came after she also shared a Bible verse which read: 'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come – 2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬.' The media personality continued, 'As I was sitting with Papaw Phil today, I thought about this verse… he has already experienced this on earth - going from dead to alive by the power of Christ! 'It was his testimony that changed his life, our families life, and thousands of others. Now he is experiencing it in the fullness. Fully alive in Christ. The new has come.'

'Duck Dynasty' star Miss Kay makes 'unbelievable' health turnaround after beloved husband's death

Miss Kay Robertson's health is back in order after a recent fall and the death of her husband, "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson. During an interview with Fox News Digital, Willie Robertson and his wife Korie explained that Miss Kay was a bit depressed after the loss of her husband. The former couple were together for over 60 years. Phil died on May 25 after suffering from Alzheimer's. He was 79. In June, Willie announced that Miss Kay's health was declining shortly after Phil's death. "Kay is not in the best of health," her son Willie told USA TODAY Network. "We're trying to help her out as much as we can." Now, Willie shared that her health has bounced back. "She is doing so much better," Willie said. "It's unbelievable how she made the turn. I think she was just really kind of depressed after Phil passed away. You know, you've been with somebody for 60 years, over 60 years, so just losing her soulmate and she is getting older. "She is doing so much better. It's unbelievable how she made the turn. I think she was just really kind of depressed after Phil passed away." "Yeah, she was struggling with that a bit, but man, she's bounced back, and she just went to church. I think she's going out of town this weekend. She's traveling more. She's on our show," he added. Korie chimed in, "She was on the 'Duck Call Room' podcast, and she said it was a proof of life video." In a recent episode of the "Duck Call Room" podcast, Kay makes a special appearance where she teases, "I'm tired of being dead." "She's been with us for a few things that we've been filming this week. So that's been really special. And, you know, that's a special part about our show. We feel like it's just getting to do it with our family and getting to spend that time together. We get to spend a lot of time with Uncle Si, which is super fun and to get to have Kay there, but yeah, she is getting older, and that comes with health issues, but she's doing really well," Korie concluded. WATCH: Kay Robertson is doing 'unbelievably' well after health concerns spiked following Phil's death Willie said that Kay leaned into her faith to get her through Phil's passing. "We were just happy knowing that he's gone on to be with the Lord, and he was so secure in that. That's pretty much all he talked about his whole life was whenever it ended, the faith and hope that he had. "Also with Alzheimer's — the bad part is you have to watch them go down, but I think it does prepare you and I think she may have been even in denial, you know, like that it was actually gonna happen. She just had to deal with it, and she really stuck close to the family. We were all there and all around her, and she was with different family members and just took care of her friends and the relationships she had," Willie said. He continued, "We're thankful that she's seeing brighter days now and seeing where she's at in life, and life without Phil, and Phil was bigger than life. He leaves a big void, for sure, and I know them two were so together in pretty much everything that they did, so I know it was hard for her." WATCH: Kay Robertson leaned on her faith to get her through grief of Phil's death Kay's health issues first came to light in April, when her son Jase Robertson shared on the podcast "Unashamed with the Robertson Family" that she had suffered a fall and developed an infection that required hospitalization. Jase said, "We were kind of dealing with the fact that maybe this is it." Kay was noticeably absent from the "Duck Dynasty: The Revival" premiere party on June 1, hosted in Monroe, Louisiana. Now, it appears that Kay will be making an appearance in the second season of "Duck Dynasty: The Revival." The Robertsons are currently filming, and the second season is expected early next year. A&E announced earlier this year that the hit show would be revived eight years after it aired its final episode. "Duck Dynasty: The Revival" focuses on Willie; his wife; their adult children John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella and Rebecca; and their grandchildren, according to a synopsis. The original "Duck Dynasty" aired for 11 seasons from 2012-17. Per A&E, the show peaked at 11.8 million viewers.
