Elegance, insight mark grand finale of Miss World Head-to-Head challenge
The Head-to-Head Challenge, a key segment of the Miss World Festival, offers a global platform for contestants to voice their views on critical social issues. Two participants from each continent were selected for the final round, from which one winner per continent advanced to the Top Ten, a press release from the organisers said on Friday. Hyderabad, May 24 (PTI) The grand finale of the Head-to-Head challenge at the 72nd Miss World festival here was marked by elegance and thoughtful discussion. Twenty five contestants — five each from Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania, and the Americas and Caribbean — showcased their eloquence, commitment, and vision for social change during the prestigious event. To a question on 'Promoting Telangana to the World,' Miss Turkey highlighted the state as a hub of technology and medical innovation. 'It is a vibrant state of progress, prioritizing women's rights, safety, and education. Telangana sends a powerful message to the world —of empowerment, innovation, and gender equality,' she said. Miss Wales remarked, 'This is my second visit, and what stands out most is the warmth of the people. I will invite my country to experience Telangana's rich culture firsthand.' 'Telangana's people are true to their culture. I received many gifts and stories that reflect their authenticity. 'Beauty with a Purpose' is not just a cause– Telangana embodies that spirit,' said Miss Zambia. Miss Trinidad & Tobago added, 'My country is known as the land of sunshine — and I want to extend that warmth to Telangana. This land radiates kindness, culture, and connection.' The Head-to-Head Challenge at the 72nd Miss World Festival powerfully showcased how beauty, purpose, intellect, and cultural pride converge to create a global voice for change, the release added. The Miss World 2025 pageant kicked off with a grand ceremony in Hyderabad on May 10 and will continue until May 31. Leveraging the event, the Telangana government has devised an elaborate action plan to showcase the state as a hub of tourism and investment. As part of this vision, the contestants toured major attractions across the state, including the iconic Charminar here, UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ramappa Temple in Mulugu district, famous Narasimha temple in Yadagirigutta and a 700-year-old Banyan tree in neighbouring Mahabubnagar district. Big Brother star ‘dreading' holiday with mum amid shock health battle
Big Brother star Imogen Thomas has opened up about the heartbreaking impact of her mum's Motor Neurone Disease diagnosis — and in an exclusive interview, admits she's now 'dreading' their upcoming holiday to Italy as her condition worsens. Big Brother star Imogen Thomas has shared the heartbreaking reality of her mum's ongoing battle with motor neurone disease, admitting during an exclusive chat with OK! that sadly, she's 'dreading' an upcoming holiday as her mother's condition continues to worsen. The Welsh model, 42, revealed in an exclusive chat with us, that her mum Janette was diagnosed with the progressive neurological disease in 2023, and although she's 'OK right now,' the impact on her daily life has been devastating. 'Her right side has gone now, so it's dead,' Imogen shared, speaking candidly about how the illness is affecting her family right now. 'I go home a lot, now. I'm home once a month to Wales, for four days at a time.' In an emotional moment, the former Miss Wales revealed she'd booked a trip to Italy for herself and her mum after bidding on it at a motor neurone disease charity event - but now the excitement has been replaced by worry. 'We're going on holiday soon. I bid for a holiday at a MND charity event, so she and I could go to Italy in June, but now I'm dreading it because the circumstances and how she feels have changed,' she admitted. 'But we are trying to stay positive.' The mum-of-two, who shares daughters Ariana, 12, and Siera, 10, with ex-partner Adam Horsley, might be known for her glam appearance and social media presence - but says dealing with her mum's health has shifted her priorities and grounded her. Despite everything going on behind the scenes, Imogen's life hasn't slowed down. She recently returned from a family holiday to Turkey, continues to build her property portfolio, and is in a steady relationship with her banker boyfriend of two years. But she admitted the emotional toll of her mum's illness looms large. Imogen is still as outspoken and candid as ever, opening up about motherhood, cosmetic surgery, and her future plans - including a possible third boob job, this time a reduction, due to back pain and discomfort. But when it comes to her girls, she's adamant she'd discourage them from following in her footsteps with surgery. 'I'd do everything to avoid it, because I know they would regret it,' she said, adding, 'I really don't want them to.' The reality star and Miss Wales 2003, who rose to fame on Big Brother in 2006, says she has no regrets about her time on the show and would even go back, telling us: 'I loved it, and if they asked me to go on it now, I would.' But for now, her focus is firmly on her family - and being there for her mum, one day at a time.

The full line-up of Miss Wales 2025 contestants and the woman who topped them all
A Royal Air Force cadet and student nurse has been crowned this year's Miss Wales. Helena Hawk, 20, fought off competition from 28 other women from across Wales to take the crown and the chance to represent Wales on the Miss World stage. Catching up with WalesOnline Helena, a nursing student in Cardiff, said it was the 'cherry on top to win' after the positive experiences that came alongside being a part of the competition and meeting other young women from all around Wales. For our free daily briefing on the biggest issues facing the nation, sign up to the Wales Matters newsletter here 'It's one of the most empowering spaces I've been in and especially when you start the three day final in what's called the Empowerment Day… I think everyone has their own story and it's just brilliant to celebrate with each other.' Just over a week ago 29 young women from across Wales spent three days competing for the title and the chance to represent Wales in Miss World. The final took place in Cardiff and Newport from May 1 to May 3, where the contestants did everything from walking barefoot over broken glass before donning their stilettos for the catwalk. Discussing how she ended up on her path, Helena said: ' I was a member of the Royal Air Force air cadets and I was 14 and often at times I was the only young girl on the squadron. 'And so through Miss Wales I decided to host open evenings, annual open evenings to encourage more women and young girls to get involved in specifically the RAF Air Cadets but also to think about a future in a military career. 'There are just so many life skills, you know, that I've learned through the cadets. They're just things that you wouldn't even think of, you know, I'd had the opportunity to fly a plane before I could even go behind the wheel of a car.' A 20-year-old nursing student at a leading Welsh university, Helena is not only passionate about helping others through healthcare, but also through service and community action. With her new title, Helena now plans to expand her initiative, Hawk's Horizons. The project aims to inspire more young women to consider future careers in the military by sharing practical advice, lived experience, and real pathways into the forces. The open evenings she has hosted, which also raise awareness for Beauty With A Purpose, have grown over the past two years and now see more female cadets enrolled than male. Helena thrives when she is busy so balancing all of her commitments alongside being a student nurse has come naturally to her. She said: 'I was always that kid at school that did every sport imaginable, every club there was, I was a part of it. 'I've always been a busy bee, so this is not unnatural for me, I would say. I thrive best when I'm occupied and I've always got something on the go.' Her ongoing commitment to empowering young people is also reflected in her long-standing support for Beauty With A Purpose, the Miss Wales charity. Alongside her duties as a student nurse, Helena volunteers at a local sports club where she coaches young children in cricket. She also plays cricket and hockey herself, using sport as a way to relax and recharge. The winner of Miss Wales is automatically guaranteed a place at Miss World, where they will compete with other young women from over 100 countries, which Helena also shared her excitement for. She said: 'That has been a massive goal of mine and I look forward to going there in 2026.' So who were the other finalists for this year? We've made a list of all the amazing women in Wales who made it through to the final rounds. These are their stories. Wales Online Social Media Poll
