Rahul Gandhi unleashes ‘Sangathan' storm in Gujarat, calls BJP-RSS prasad politics divisive

AHMEDABAD: With Gujarat in its crosshairs for 2027, Congress has launched an aggressive organisational reset led by Rahul Gandhi. At a high-stakes training camp in Anand, he took sharp digs at the Election Commission, vowed to dethrone BJP in its home turf, and energised grassroots leaders under the 'Sangathan Sujan Abhiyan'. The visit also included emotional outreach from cooperative sector meetings to connecting with grieving families of the Gambhira Bridge collapse victims in Vadodara. With Mission 2027 in full swing, the Congress has kicked off a decisive campaign in Gujarat, the BJP's strongest bastion. A three-day training camp for newly appointed District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents is underway at a resort near Anand, aimed at crafting a clear roadmap for the upcoming state assembly elections. The event, concluding July 28, forms the backbone of Congress's "Sangathan Sujan Abhiyan" a national campaign to revitalise its organisational machinery. At the centre of this push stood Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who delivered a hard-hitting address that combined political strategy with sharp critique. Accusing the Election Commission of playing umpire for the ruling party, Gandhi reportedly used a cricket analogy to boost morale: 'If you get out repeatedly, you may begin to doubt yourself. But sometimes, it's the umpire who is biased.' This, said Surendranagar DCC chief Naushad Solanki, helped ground-level leaders understand that defeats like the 2017 Gujarat polls were not merely internal failures but also influenced by "dubious voters' lists".

Important to defeat BJP in its 'main base': Rahul Gandhi tells Gujarat Congress leaders; slams EC as 'biased umpire'

ANAND: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday assured the district unit chiefs of his party in Gujarat that their opinions will be taken into account while selecting poll candidates. Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, during his address at the Congress' district presidents' training camp under the 'Sangathan Sujan Abhiyan' (campaign to strengthen the party organisation), also slammed the Election Commission for being "biased" and asserted it was important to defeat the BJP in its "main base" of Gujarat. The party has organised the camp for the newly-appointed presidents of District Congress Committees at a resort near Anand city in view of the 2027 state assembly elections. The camp, aimed to prepare a road map for the party's Mission 2027, will conclude on July 28. Rahul Gandhi guided the district presidents and assured that the leadership is fully with the party workers, Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda told reporters after the meeting. "Rahul Gandhi asked us to take up issues concerning people. He assured that city and district unit chiefs will be consulted before candidates for various elections are chosen," Rajkot Congress chief Rajdeepsinh Jadeja said.

Gujarat Congress camp: Rahul Gandhi blames ‘biased umpire' ECI for poll defeats; slams BJP-RSS ‘control'

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday (July 26, 2025) assured the district unit chiefs of his party in Gujarat that their opinions will be taken into account while selecting poll candidates. Mr. Mr. Gandhi guided the district presidents and assured that the leadership is fully with the party workers, Gujarat Congress chief Amit Chavda told reporters after the meeting. "Rahul Gandhi asked us to take up issues concerning people. He assured that city and district unit chiefs will be consulted before candidates for various elections are chosen," Rajkot Congress chief Rajdeepsinh Jadeja said. Another leader said Gandhi used cricketing terms to accuse the Election Commission of India of being a "biased umpire", because of which the Congress has been losing elections. "In cricket, if you get out time and again, you can start doubting yourself. But then you realise you are getting out not because of your fault. It is the umpire who is biased. Rahul ji said this and gave us confidence. He asserted we lost the 2017 Gujarat polls due to the ECI's dubious voters' list," the Congress' Surendranagar district chief Naushad Solanki said. "Rahul ji emphasised it was very important to defeat the BJP in its main base of Gujarat. He told us the party used to believe that we must work hard (to defeat the BJP) in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and some other states. He said if we can defeat the BJP in Gujarat, then the party can be defeated everywhere," Solanki added. In another example, the LoP in Lok Sabha likened the nation to a temple where everybody can come and pray, but the BJP-RSS is controlling who gets what as "prasad", Solanki said. "They (BJP-RSS) decide what is to be given if a SC, ST or OBC comes and if Adani or Ambani comes," Solanki said quoting Gandhi. Later at around 3 p.m., Mr. Gandhi will hold a discussion with cooperative sector leaders and dairy farmers who are members of various cooperative milk unions or dairies. This meeting is being held in the backdrop of recent protest organized by the dairy farmers outside Sabar Dairy in Himmatnagar town of north Gujarat over the issue of milk procurement prices. In a bid to strengthen the party's organisation at district levels ahead of 2027 state assembly elections, the Congress party had recently appointed new presidents of all the District Congress Committees.

AAP eyes 2027 polls, revamps Punjab unit with 5 MLAs as vice-presidents

1 2 Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday announced a major organisational overhaul of its Punjab unit, appointing five MLAs as vice-presidents along with new in-charges for all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies and 23 districts of the state. The reshuffle, influenced by former Delhi deputy chief minister and AAP's Punjab affairs in-charge Manish Sisodia, is based on field surveys and signals the launch of the party's campaign for the next assembly elections — 'Mission 2027'. Banga MLA Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, who was elected on an Akali ticket in 2022 and joined AAP last year, has been made the in-charge of Doaba region. The decision has come even as a petition against him is pending before the assembly speaker, and he still sits with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) MLAs in the assembly. Khadoor Sahib MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura has been given the responsibility of Majha zone. In Malwa, responsibilities have been distributed among three MLAs — Moga's Amandeep Kaur for Malwa central, Chamkaur Sahib's Charanjit Singh for Malwa east, and Sri Muktsar Sahib's Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar for Malwa west. Anandpur Sahib MP Malvinder Singh Kang, party leader Harchand Singh Barsat, Deepak Bali, and Sunny Singh Ahluwalia have been appointed as state general secretaries. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 남재현 원장, 뱃살 내장지방 줄이는 "이것" 하세요. 남재현 뱃살 빼는 다이어트 더 알아보기 Undo Additionally, Sandeep Saini from Doaba, Gurdev Singh Lakhna from Majha, Navjot Singh Jarg from Malwa central, Ranjodh Singh Hadana from Malwa east, and Inderjit Singh Maan from Malwa west have been given responsibilities as state secretaries. A party spokesperson said Sisodia made the appointments based on surveys. "Sisodia worked tirelessly, deploying his 'Super 60' team across the field. This was no ordinary survey team, but a group of the most experienced and active party workers handpicked by Sisodia. They brought insights from the public, party workers, district heads, and assembly constituencies to the party leadership," he said. AAP has also appointed in-charges in all 13 Lok Sabha constituencies of Punjab for the first time. The list includes Karamjit Kaur for Hoshiarpur, Ramneek Singh Lucky Randhawa for Jalandhar, Jaskaran Badesha for Amritsar, Rajiv Sharma for Gurdaspur, Ranjit Cheema for Khadoor Sahib, Sukhjinder Singh Kauni for Faridkot, Pradeep Khalsa for Fatehgarh Sahib, Sharanpal Singh Makkar for Ludhiana, Kuljeet Sarhal for Anandpur Sahib, Baljinder Dhillon for Patiala, Gurmel Singh Gharacho for Sangrur, Navdeep Singh Jida for Bathinda, and Jagdev Singh Bam for Ferozepur. AAP has also appointed district in-charges and secretaries across districts. BIGGEST CHANGE IN AAP ORGANISATION Manish Sisodia posted on X, "This is the biggest change in AAP Punjab's organisation to date. New colleagues connected to grassroots politics are being given major responsibilities in the organisation. Today, we didn't just distribute positions in Punjab… we've further strengthened the foundation upon which new politics is being built. This isn't just a reshuffle; it's a pledge that AAP will now take its organised vision and honest politics to every village, every young person, every family. " Sisodia added in a statement that the restructuring is not solely aimed at upcoming elections. "We are not preparing for 2027; we are preparing for 2040. AAP is no longer just a political party; it's a people's movement. Every new appointee is now not just an office bearer but a bridge between the public and the govt."
