Yogi Adityanaths BIG Gift For Women: Cabinet Approves THIS Much Stamp Duty Exemption For Women

LUCKNOW: In a landmark Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at Lok Bhawan, the Uttar Pradesh government approved several key proposals aimed at boosting women empowerment, youth digital access, infrastructure, and education. The session cleared a total of 37 proposals and announced the commencement of the Vidhan Sabha's Monsoon Session from August 11. One of the most significant decisions made was the expansion of the stamp duty exemption for women property buyers. Previously limited to properties worth Rs 10 lakh, this exemption has now been extended to properties valued up to Rs 1 crore, offering a 1 per cent reduction in stamp duty. This can translate into savings of up to Rs 1 lakh per property registration in the name of women. State Labour Minister Anil Rajbhar said that this move targets middle-class women, helping them become property owners, boosting their confidence, financial independence, and social respect. The policy complements the Mission Shakti initiative and aligns with the Union Government's recent proposal to reduce stamp duty on property deeds, favouring women. In an effort to enhance digital empowerment among the youth, the Cabinet approved distributing feature-rich tablets under the Swami Vivekananda Youth Sashaktikaran Yojana. The tablets, superior to smartphones in screen size, battery life, and multitasking capabilities, will support education, skill development, and job preparedness. The five-year scheme has a budget allocation of Rs 2,000 crore for the financial year 2025-26 and will be fully funded by the state government without any financial burden on the Centre. The government also sanctioned the construction of the Chitrakoot Link Expressway, a Rs 939.67 crore infrastructure project to be executed via the EPC model. The 15.172-kilometre, initially four-lane expressway will connect Bharatkoop in Chitrakoot to Ahmadganj village, linking the Varanasi-Banda National Highway and NH 135 BG. This expressway is expected to improve regional connectivity and boost tourism in Chitrakoot by providing faster, smoother travel for pilgrims and visitors. The project includes a five-year maintenance period post-construction and is anticipated to generate around 38 lakh man-days of employment. To align technical education with industry standards, the Cabinet approved a Rs 6,935.86 crore project in partnership with Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) to upgrade 121 government polytechnic institutes. TTL will invest Rs 6,034.20 crore, while the state government will contribute Rs 1,063.96 crore plus an additional Rs 858.11 crore for infrastructure and facilities. The initiative will establish Tata Technology Excellence Centres to enhance diploma-level education and skill development. The first phase will focus on upgrading 45 polytechnic institutes as a pilot project. The Cabinet announced that the Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature will begin on August 11. This session will comply with constitutional mandates requiring a maximum six-month gap between sessions. The government plans to present bills to replace ordinances issued after the last session and conduct other vital legislative business.

UP women turning self-reliant, leaders, says WEE Index data

Lucknow: The most recent Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) Index data prepared by the department of planning has shown that more women are stepping beyond traditional roles to become self-reliant through self-employment and leadership. The index tracks the economic, social, and educational progress of women across the state, providing crucial insight into areas that require planning and intervention. The current report states that there was a notable rise in women's participation in education and skill development. "Govt initiatives like vocational training, Mission Shakti, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, and Swachh Bharat Mission have strengthened women's safety and social awareness, empowering them both socially and economically. Schemes to recruit women as drivers and conductors in public transport are improving their mobility and economic independence," it adds. The WEE Index evaluates all 75 districts in key categories, which include entrepreneurship, employment, education and skill development, livelihood, and safety and transportation. The department then uses 49 indicators and data from 15 departments to analyse the situation in each category. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath described the WEE Index as a "historic step towards women's dignity and self-reliance," adding that it will help make policy-making more data-driven and targeted. As per the index, the districts of Lucknow, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi, Jhansi, Sultanpur, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Sonbhadra, Rae Bareli, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Ambedkar Nagar, Agra, and Ghaziabad have been categorised as 'Champions'. "These districts have demonstrated strong outcomes due to effective implementation of govt schemes, active women participation, and robust structural support. Women in these areas are advancing in entrepreneurship, education, and employment, with initiatives like ODOP helping them take local products to national and global markets," said a govt spokesperson. In the next category of 'Leader', the districts of Pratapgarh, Moradabad, Barabanki, Aligarh, and Bareilly have been included. These districts have shown a good performance but need to maintain momentum. Meanwhile, Ghazipur, Jalaun, Muzaffarnagar, and Bulandshahr are in the 'Contender' category, where govt schemes are reaching women but more efforts are needed, especially in improving skill training and employment opportunities. Districts such as Chandauli, Baghpat, Amroha, Badaun, Sitapur, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Mahoba, Sambhal, and Shravasti have been classified as 'Aspirational' as they face challenges in grassroots awareness, education, safety, and self-employment. The state govt has directed officials in these districts to launch concerted campaigns to address these issues.

Festive mood marks mega PTM across Tirupati, Chittoor districts

Tirupati / Chittoor: A grand Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) was held across government and model schools in Tirupati and Chittoor districts on Thursday in a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The mega event witnessed enthusiastic participation from parents, teachers, students, and officials, with several dignitaries attending as chief guests to underscore the significance of community involvement in education. District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Members of Parliament and Legislative Assembly, and other public representatives graced various venues, sending a powerful message about the role of schools in shaping the future of society. The day saw a series of engaging activities including photo exhibitions, cultural performances, tug of war, musical chairs, sapling plantations in mothers' names, and community lunches. Holistic progress cards and green passports were distributed to parents, giving them a detailed insight into their children's academic and extracurricular growth. Tirupati District Collector Dr S Venkateswar attended the event at the AP Model School in Venkatagiri, while Chittoor District Collector Sumit Kumar and Superintendent of Police Manikanta Chandolu participated in the celebrations at Rompicherla Model School. Speaking on the occasion, the Collectors urged parents to be active participants in their children's academic journey. 'Parents should identify their children's interests and encourage them to pursue growth in those areas. They must take personal responsibility in their children's development, academic discipline, and diet,' they said. The need to monitor children's activities and reduce their exposure to mobile phones and social media was also highlighted. Tirupati Collector explained on the government's collaboration with IIT Madras under the Mission Shakti initiative to support academically weaker students. 'Tirupati district houses 14 national and State-level universities, yet only about 3 per cent of students at premier institutes like IISER are Telugu-speaking. Parents must work towards changing that,' he said. Chittoor Collector Sumit Kumar echoed similar sentiments, underscoring the importance of discipline and perseverance in helping students overcome challenges. 'Children in Andhra Pradesh have immense potential. To excel in competitive environments, they need focus, dedication and guidance,' he said. Venkatagiri MLA Kurugondla Ramakrishna reminded parents that a student's future begins from Class 10, a turning point in their lives. He warned of the dangers of substance abuse during the Intermediate stage and urged students to stay away from narcotics and distractions. At the end prizes were distributed to students and mothers who won in various competitions.

‘Anti-Romeo squads' deployed in Bareilly for women kanwariyas' safety

Dehradun: Bareilly police have deployed 'anti-Romeo squads' along the kanwar yatra route in Bareilly zone to prevent harassment of women pilgrims and enforce security ahead of the yatra, which begins on Friday. Officials introduced several measures, including route diversions, identity checks, and deployment of women constables, in response to the rising number of female devotees undertaking the pilgrimage. DIG (Bareilly zone) Ajay Kumar Sahani told TOI, "We're making special arrangements for women pilgrims. Arrangements for separate toilets and resting facilities are being made. Additionally, we have also deployed the dedicated women constables to particularly focus on the women under the Mission Shakti initiative. Along with it, anti-Romeo squads have been activated to keep strict vigilance. They are asked to take strict action if any woman faces any criminal activity. " The yatra has seen a rise in participation from women in recent years. In response, Uttar Pradesh Police have introduced targeted security arrangements under Mission Shakti, a state initiative aimed at safeguarding women in public spaces. Sahani said, "These arrangements have been made considering the increase in the number of women pilgrims in past years. We have distributed Bareilly, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, and Pilibhit into eight super-zones, 26 zones, 78 sectors, and 218 sub-sectors and have deployed almost 6,000 police officials. All camps should install CCTV cameras for better surveillance." He said all kanwariyas must carry valid ID cards and revealed that individuals with prior criminal records had already been served notices to prevent any disruptions along the route. Police have ordered DJs not to play provocative or controversial music. "We have also strictly ordered the DJ operators not to play controversial music that would hurt someone's sentiments. If any such thing is done, we will lodge an FIR against the accused," Sahani added. The state govt has also banned the sale of meat and alcohol along the kanwar route and directed heavy vehicles to take alternate roads as part of a route diversion plan. In addition, each camp is required to install CCTV cameras, and women help desks have been established for immediate support in case of emergencies.
