Haase homers twice, USF rolls past St. Cloud State
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (USF) — The University of Sioux Falls Baseball Team (30-26) advanced in the NSIC Tournament with a commanding 10-2 victory over St. Cloud State (26-25) on Wednesday afternoon at Ronken Field. Jaxon Haase led the way, hitting two home runs and driving in five RBIs, while also setting the USF single-season home run record with his 15th of the season, surpassing the mark held by Kalen DeBoer since 1997. Mitch Iliff added a homer and three RBIs to propel the Cougars to the win. Game Recap Sioux Falls took control early, scoring two runs in the third inning when Mitch Iliff launched a two-run homer to right center, scoring Dominic Vogel . The Cougars extended their lead in the fourth, as Noah Christenson tripled to drive in Ryan Gouldin , followed by Nolan Drossel's RBI single. Iliff added a sacrifice fly, making it 5-0. St. Cloud State responded in the fifth with a solo home run from Blaine Guthrie, but Sioux Falls answered in the sixth. (USF) — The Cougars (24-25, 20-14 NSIC) secured a doubleheader sweep over the Winona State Warriors (21-23, 17-17 NSIC) on April 26, 2025, at Loughrey Field in Winona, Minn., winning Game 1 8-6 and Game 2 12-5. The Cougars' hot bats, amassing 26 hits across both games, and strong pitching propelled them to victory. The Cougars struck first in their opening contest against Winona State, building an early advantage behind a five-run outburst through two innings.
