Zac Youkam has found his next kicking destination in the Big XII

Zac Youkam has found his next kicking destination in the Big XII While Zac Youkam did get some opportunities to kick for Notre Dame football, and although Mitch Jeter has now finished his eligibility, the transfer of Noah Burnette from North Carolina forced him to move on as well. On Thursday he announced that he has committed to the Houston Cougars, as the rising junior will now have an opportunity to be the main place kicker this coming season. Youkam struggled this past year, hitting just 2 of 5 field goal attempts, while making all 18 of his point after tries. While Jeter was out with an injury, it did seem like the Irish were handcuffed a bit due to his inaccuracy, but still gave him more than enough opportunities to succeed. Unfortunately, that didn't happen, and we wish Zac the best in Houston.

Three more Notre Dame players will get their shot at the NFL

Three more Notre Dame players will get their shot at the NFL It wasn't just the Notre Dame football draftees and undrafted free agent signees that will get their shot in the NFL, three other Irish players will also. On Sunday kicker Mitch Jeter, defensive end RJ Oben and running back Devyn Ford each earned rookie mini camps invitations, giving them a chance to show teams across the league that they belong. Jeter signed with the Minnesota Vikings, but they do have second-year player Will Reichard returning and it could be tough for them to carry a second active specialist. Oben inked with the Kansas City Chiefs, as they also have plenty of depth along the line including former Notre Dame star Jerry Tillery. As for Ford, he will try and make the Las Vegas Raiders roster, but that won't be easy after they used their No. 6 overall pick to take Boise State star Ashton Jeanty. There are more than a few solid veteran backups already on the roster as well. While it may be the tough route to the NFL, these three have earned the right to do so, and we have seen more than a few success stories for players coming out of this route.
