Mithun Chakraborty slit chest, prayed for this actor when doctors couldn't…: 'Sabne umeed chod di…'
There are two kinds of friends: the ones you casually hang out with, and the ones who know you on a deep, personal level. Then, there's a third kind – friends who become family and would go to any lengths for you. One such friendship was shared by famous Bollywood actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty. Mithun deeply respects this veteran actor and considers him his elder brother. In Mithun's eyes, he is the biggest superstar of Bollywood, a sentiment he has openly expressed on a television channel. Mithun holds immense love and respect for him in his heart. What could be a bigger example of this bond than the incident from four decades ago? When the actor in question was seriously injured during a film shoot, Mithun slit his own chest out of desperation for his safety, and blood started flowing. At one point, doctors declared the actor clinically dead, unable to detect a pulse or blood pressure. In that moment, Mithun rushed to a temple of Goddess Kali and prayed fervently for his recovery. We are talking about Amitabh Bachchan here. When he was seriously injured while shooting Coolie in 1983, Mithun slit his chest for his well being. Big B once wrote in his blog, 'A dedicated follower and one that has always been respected by the fraternity, his concern and love for all is legendary – slit his chest and took a pledge on his blood for my well being during my Coolie episode. How can one ever forget that'. Bachchan was critically injured in the intestines while filming a fight scene in the 1983 film with co-star Puneet Issar which almost cost him his life. Amitabh was a star by then and Mithun was in his struggling period. In the same blog, Big B recounted Mithun's loyalty for him on the sets of his film 1976 Do Anjane in which Mithun did a cameo. He wrote, 'During the shoot for Do Anjane at Calcutta he used to run around enthusiastically ready to carry my bags for me. I would desist from him doing this, but he went ahead and did it always'.

Youth arrested for stealing Rs 10L cash, 125g of gold from grandmother in Bengaluru
Bengaluru: A 23-year-old autorickshaw driver, who stole gold and cash from his grandmother's house, thinking she was not providing financial help, is now cooling his heels behind bars. The accused, BS Mithun, a resident of Chandan Layout in Sunkadakatte, walked into his maternal grandmother's house, BT Puttananjamma, at Vijayanandanagar in Nandini Layout on May 3 and fled with Rs 10 lakhs in cash and 125 grams of gold. He used a duplicate key to enter the house when Puttananjamma and others had gone to their native place to participate in a village festival. Puttananjamma owned two more residential buildings in the area, which she rented out. One of them was due for some repair, and she took a hand loan of Rs 10 lakh from a relative in Kunigal for the same reason, police said. "Accused Mithun knew his grandmother kept the cash in her house. Also, he was aware of the gold in the cupboard. Thinking she never helped him financially, Mithun decided to steal the cash and gold," an investigating officer said. The theft came to light when Puttananjamma returned home on May 5. "As we inspected the spot, we found that the main door was intact, but the cupboard was broken. It indicated that miscreants had a duplicate key of the door," police said. While filing the complaint, Puttananjamma suspected Mithun's involvement in the theft. "We arrested Mithun. During interrogation, he revealed he sold the gold ornaments in different places in the city and handed over the cash to his friend. We have so far recovered 81 grams of gold and Rs 8.9 lakhs in cash. Mithun and his friend spent the remaining money," police said.

Mithun Chakraborty Gets Showcause Notice By BMC Over Unauthorised Malad Construction
Last Updated: The BMC targets illegal buildings in Mumbai's Madh area, including one by actor Mithun Chakraborty. He must justify the construction or face demolition and legal action. The BMC (Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation) is getting serious about clearing out illegal buildings in Mumbai's Madh area. Now, Mithun Chakraborty's name has landed on the list too. The veteran actor and BJP leader has been served a showcause notice for putting up an allegedly unauthorised ground-floor structure on a plot in Erangle village, Malad. According to the civic authorities, Mithun now has to explain why the construction shouldn't be pulled down. If he doesn't respond or fails to justify it, the BMC says they'll demolish it. There's also a warning of possible legal action. This isn't a one-off. The BMC has flagged over 100 unauthorised structures in the Madh area, including some bungalows that were reportedly built using fake layout plans. Officials say they plan to remove all such illegal buildings by the end of May. 'During inspections near Hira devi Mandir in Erangle village, two one-plus-mezzanine-storey buildings, one ground-floor structure, and three temporary units made from bricks, wood, glass, and AC sheets. These structures have been built on the area without taking permission from the competent authority, for which a show cause notice has been issued to the actor," said civic sources. The BMC has invoked Section 351(1A) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act to issue a notice to Mithun Chakraborty, giving him a week from May 10 to respond. He's been asked to clarify why the alleged construction shouldn't be taken down, modified, or why the use of the space shouldn't be reversed. If he fails to respond in time, the civic body may move forward with action against the structure. An official stated that violations of this kind fall under Section 475A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, which can lead to fines and even jail time. Responding to the notice, Mithun Chakraborty maintained his stance, telling Free Press Journal, 'I have no unauthorised structures. Notices have been sent to many, and we are sending our replies." When Sushmita Sen stormed out of set after Mithun Chakraborty allegedly touched her inappropriately during a scene in Chingaari: '...I felt disturbed'
Sushmita Sen has always been known for her powerful performances, but the 2006 film Chingaari became infamous not only for its controversial on-set moments but also for the personal challenges the lead actress faced. One such incident that garnered attention was when Sushmita reportedly stormed off set after an intimate scene with co-star Mithun Chakraborty , accusing him of inappropriate behavior. Although the matter was later addressed, it added to the mounting tensions and controversies surrounding the film's production. Tensions with Mithun Chakraborty In several interviews, director Kalpana Lajmi openly acknowledged that tensions ran high between the lead actors of Chingaari. She suggested that veteran actor Mithun was caught off guard by Sushmita's commanding performance, which created noticeable friction between the co-stars. Kalpana also revealed that she bore the brunt of Mithun's frustrations during the shoot. There were also unconfirmed reports that Sushmita once walked off the set following an intense scene with Chakraborty. Allegedly, she felt uncomfortable with the way the scene unfolded and became emotional afterward, even raising the issue with director Kalpana Lajmi. The director reportedly reassured her that it was a misunderstanding. Sources later claimed that Sushmita reconsidered the situation, felt she may have overreacted, and resolved the matter privately with her co-star. However, none of the parties involved have publicly addressed or confirmed this incident. Kalpana frequently expressed her long-standing admiration for Mithun during interviews about Chingaari. However, what began as a promising collaboration quickly soured, with the director candidly recounting the many difficulties she encountered while working with him. Instead of a rewarding creative experience, their professional relationship became one of the more challenging chapters of her filmmaking journey. Emotionally taxing experience for Sushmita Controversies aside, portraying Basanti in Chingaari was an emotionally taxing experience for Sushmita Sen. She has spoken to Hindustan Times about how deeply the role affected her, even after filming had ended. Playing a sex worker took a toll on her psyche—she admitted that despite knowing it was just acting, the intensity of the character often blurred the lines between reel and real, leaving her feeling unsettled and emotionally drained. Fallout with Co-star Anuj Sawhney One of the early controversies that plagued Chingaari involved lead actress Sushmita and newcomer Anuj Sawhney, who played a postman in love with Sushmita's character, a sex worker. During the film's promotional phase, Anuj reportedly boasted about an on-screen kiss with Sushmita, claiming it took 36 retakes to get right. His remarks didn't sit well with Sushmita, who was so upset that she opted out of promoting the film entirely. Kalpana later expressed that the controversy cost them two crucial months of publicity, as the film was heavily dependent on Sushmita's presence and star power. Anuj eventually issued an apology two months after the incident, which director Kalpana took as an acknowledgment of his mistake. While she empathized with Sushmita's reaction as a woman, she admitted feeling let down as the film's director. Sushmita later forgave Anuj but clarified in an interview with Hindustan Times that she was deeply hurt by how the film was being publicized. She believed that highlighting a kiss scene overshadowed the powerful social message Chingaari was meant to convey. Actor Mithun Jai Sankar on playing Nitushan in ‘Tourist Family' and life after ‘Aavesham'
Five months after his debut movie Aavesham's release in April 2024, actor Mithun Jai Sankar received a call from Million Dollar Studios in Chennai, asking him to go there for the narration of Tourist Family. Mithun and Abishan Jeevinth, director of the movie, spent a day together, understanding the plot and bouncing off dialogues. The Tamil feel-good comedy is currently running in theatres. Apart from the storyline, it was the experienced cast, headlined by Sasikumar and Simran, which excited Mithun further about the movie that explores the life of an illegal Sri Lankan migrant family living in Chennai. Mithun was roped in to play Sasikumar and Simran's son, Nitushan, a young adult reeling from the family's move to India. The movie deals with the family's efforts to find their footing in a new place, while evading the authorities. 'Even though I was excited, I was very nervous to speak to them,' says Mithun over a phone call from Kochi. 'Simran ma'am mostly talked about Malayalam movies, especially Aavesham, and Sasikumar sir spoke about his experience working on Master, his Malayalam movie. He told me how he tried to learn the language by speaking to people in Kerala, but they all responded in Tamil.' Other than what he had picked up by watching movies, Mithun had no experience conversing in Tamil. However, the actor stepped up with the help of Abhishan. Also, the character speaks Tamil in a Sri Lankan dialect, which was dubbed by Mithun himself. 'I spent two weeks preparing for the role with an emphasis on the dialect. Words like unakku (meaning you) become ungalku, pesaruthu (meaning to speak) become kadhakiruthu. Everyone in the my 'family' was spontaneous with their dialogues. May be because of their familiarity to the language. But I was not able to do it. They would play around with the dialogues, which I tried later,' says Mithun. The actor shares great chemistry with Kamalesh Jagan, who essays his younger brother Mulli. 'I spent most of the time with him. We had great offscreen chemistry as well. He is more experienced than I am as an actor and would tell me funny stories from other sets. He is a lot like his character ,' says Mithun, who is also being lauded for the chemistry with a female character, after clips of their proposal scene from the movie have gone viral. Abishan— who has also played a pivotal role in the movie — would demonstrate what he wants, says the actor. 'However, at the same time, he would give me the freedom to explore the character and make it my own,' Mithun recalls. Originally from Poojappura in Thiruvananthapuram, Mithun had a stellar start to his acting life, essaying Bibin in Aavesham directed by Jithu Madhavan, starring Fahadh Faasil. 'People still call me Bibin even a year after the movie's release. They come and talk to me. A lot of people saw that movie in Tamil Nadu too, and that's how I even got this role,' says Mithun. A statistics graduate from Christ Nagar College in Thiruvananthapuram, Mithun joined coaching classes for the SSC exam after graduation. 'While I was preparing for the exams, I quit the coaching and started making reels,' says Mithun, who later created a YouTube channel, Poojappuranam, with a few friends in his locality. The channel made satirical videos about developments in cinema, among other things. 'The channel was the beginning for me as an actor. Before that, as a child, I would shoot visuals in the camera of my dad's keypad phones with my younger brother as my model,' he says. Mithun is currently discussing his next projects. 'I just want to do good movies, with a space for me to perform,' says the actor.
