Man United and Everton Considering Move to Sign £40m Former Premier League Striker
Mitrovic Move Back to England? Premier League Clubs Circle Al Hilal Ready to Offload Proven Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, once a bruising force in the Premier League, could be set for a dramatic return to English football. As reported by talkSPORT, Al Hilal are willing to sell or loan the Serbia international this summer, with Premier League sides West Ham and Everton keeping close tabs. Advertisement After scoring 68 goals in 79 games since his £50 million move from Fulham in 2023, Mitrovic's impact in Saudi Arabia is undeniable. But with Al Hilal shifting focus towards marquee signings ahead of the Club World Cup, the striker may become a casualty of foreign player quota limits. 'A return back to the Premier League for Mitrovic is possible with West Ham and Everton both monitoring the situation,' talkSPORT reports. Photo IMAGO United and Milan Monitoring Situation Manchester United's interest has resurfaced following their failed attempt to sign Liam Delap, who looks set to join Chelsea for £30 million. As per talkSPORT, 'Manchester United are also considering a move after missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea.' Advertisement While Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres remains United's top target, his stance is unclear with the Red Devils missing out on European football. Financial constraints also play a role. United must sell before buying, making Mitrovic, reportedly available for £40 million and willing to accept a pay cut, a pragmatic alternative. Meanwhile, AC Milan have also enquired about the 30-year-old forward. 'AC Milan are the latest club to make an enquiry for the 30-year-old,' the article states. The Rossoneri's search for a traditional No. 9 could gather pace under their latest tactical evolution. Saudi Market Evolution Underway Mitrovic's uncertain future is part of a broader movement within the Saudi Pro League. Al Hilal, who are courting Napoli's Victor Osimhen and continue to be linked, however loosely, with Cristiano Ronaldo for a Club World Cup loan, are working hard to refine their foreign contingent. Advertisement Mitrovic's representatives will meet Al Hilal officials this week to discuss options, while central Saudi dealmakers aim to prove that exits can be as strategic as big-name arrivals. 'Saudi officials don't view these exits as players jumping ship,' talkSPORT notes. 'They plan for periodic squad refreshes and believe several names purchased have either protected their value or increased it.' The departure of Gabri Veiga to Porto is one such example of this shift in tone and structure. Source: IMAGO Premier League Clubs Face a Test of Ambition Despite no formal bids yet, Al Hilal are prepared to engage with interested parties once a replacement is secured. Mitrovic may not be everyone's ideal marquee name, but he remains a proven scorer, Premier League-hardened, and seemingly eager for another challenge in England. Advertisement For Everton, the appeal is obvious: firepower at a fair price. For United, it's about depth, goals, and presence — particularly if the summer market proves unforgiving. Whether either club is brave enough to move quickly remains to be seen. Our View – EPL Index Analysis For Manchester United fans, the idea of signing Mitrovic brings mixed emotions. On the one hand, he's not the glamorous solution many fans dream of. But on the other, he might be exactly what United need right now — a physical, aggressive striker who knows the league and scores goals. He's no Viktor Gyokeres, but Gyokeres likely won't come without Champions League football. At £40 million, Mitrovic could provide United with reliable short-term output, especially if Højlund continues to blow hot and cold. A pay cut adds further credibility to the move. Advertisement For Everton, this is a chance they must seize. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin's inconsistency and injury concerns, Mitrovic would bring muscle, experience and a genuine scoring threat, all at a fee far more modest than many names floating in today's market. Ultimately, the Mitrovic move should be about fit, not flash. He suits Everton's needs perfectly. For United, if the money doesn't stretch to Gyokeres or a bigger name, then this may be the shrewd and sensible call.

Man Utd reignite interest in £40m striker they failed to sign two years ago
Manchester United are reportedly interested in a former Premier League striker Erik ten Hag considered signing two years ago. It is no secret that Ruben Amorim needs a new No.9 after Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee's woeful season in front of goal. The pair scored just seven league goals between them, while only four clubs found the back of the net fewer times than United in the top-flight as they slumped to 15th place. The arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves will help matters but finding more firepower is proving a tricky task. United have already been turned down by Liam Delap who is joining Chelsea, while transfers for Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Jean-Philippe Mateta are proving difficult. As a result, it is now said the Red Devils are one of three Premier League clubs weighing up a move for former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. talkSPORT report that the Serbian has been put up for sale by Al-Hilal – the Saudi Pro League side that are trying to sign United captain Bruno Fernandes. Al-Hilal are also interested in signing Osimhen and Cristiano Ronaldo as they prepare for the Club World Cup but will need to sell in order to keep within foreign quota rules. They have slapped a £40million price tag on Mitrovic but would also be willing to loan him out, with United, Everton and West Ham keeping tabs on the situation. Mitrovic initially failed to make an impact in England with Newcastle but rediscovered his shooting boots following a move to Fulham in 2018. Clubs: Newcastle United, Fulham Appearances: 129 Goals: 38 Assists: 11 Yellow cards: 21 Red cards: 2 The 30-year-old notably scored a record 43 goals in a single Championship season before netting 14 in just 24 Premier League appearances in 2022/23. More Trending That form caught the eye of then-United boss Ten Hag but his interest cooled after Mitrovic shockingly shoved referee Chris Kavanagh during an FA Cup defeat to, ironically, United. The striker was punished with an eight game ban for his actions before being sold to Al Hilal for £50m, while the Red Devils gambled £72m on Hojlund. While the Dane has massively underwhelmed, Mitrovic has 68 goals in 79 games in Saudi Arabia, winning a league and cup double last year. He is also his country's all-time top scorer with finding the back of the net 59 times in 89 caps. For more stories like this, check our sport page. Manchester United pondering shock move for Alexsandar Mitrovic
Manchester United are considering a surprise move for Al-Hilal striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, according to talkSPORT. Given Mitrovic's familiarity with English football, he is viewed as a low-risk option if terms can be agreed with Al-Hilal. Advertisement The Serbian international left Fulham for the Saudi Pro League in 2023 but could now be set for a sensational return to the Premier League, with as many as three clubs reportedly keeping an eye on him. Alongside United, West Ham and Everton are also keen on a swoop for Mitrovic who scored 111 times in 206 matches across all competitions during his time at Fulham and was renowned for his aerial ability. The Serbian has also continued to deliver the goods for Al-Hilal with 68 goals in 79 matches. However, his place in the team could be under threat with the Saudi outfit planning a move for Victor Osimhen. That could open the door to Mitrovic's exit from the Kingdom Arena, and he is not short of suitors. Advertisement Having missed out on the now Chelsea-bound Liam Delap, Man United remain in the hunt for further offensive reinforcement after signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ruben Amorim's side have been linked with a move for Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and Lyon's Rayan Cherki. Given their current financial situation, Ruben Amorim's side are believed to be eyeing cut-price deals at the moment, but the potential sale of Bruno Fernandes could give the Red Devils more leeway in the market. Fernandes is a target for Al-Hilal, who have already offered the Portuguese international a lucrative contract, although he is yet to greenlight a move, while United remain firm in their desire not to sell. After recently completing their Asian tour, United are next in action next month when they face off against newly promoted Leeds United at the Strawberry Arena in Sweden.
