Emma Raducanu will win 'biggest purse in tennis history' if she repeats history
Emma Raducanu will win 'biggest purse in tennis history' if she repeats history Emma Raducanu will be hoping to win a second US Open title next month and could rake in millions in what would be her second triumph at Flushing Meadows Emma Raducanu was just 18 years old when she won the US Open (Image: Elsa/Getty Images) Emma Raducanu stands to pocket a staggering £3.7million if she secures victory at the US Open for a second time next month. The Flushing Meadows tournament has revealed that a record-breaking prize fund is on offer, awaiting this year's champion. Four years ago, Raducanu astounded the globe with her Cinderella-like triumph in the United States as a teenager. Now aged 22, the British sensation aims to replicate her peak performance and once again astonish the tennis world, under the guidance of her new coach Francisc Roig, who formerly assisted Rafael Nadal. In 2021, Raducanu bagged a cool £1.8m from her monumental win, indicating that the grand slam reward has more than doubled since then. On Wednesday, tournament officials declared that the total prize money would be the 'largest purse in tennis history'. Even within the past year, the prize money has seen a significant increase. Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, the 2024 champions, were awarded £2.7m for their performances in New York. The overall pool of funds distributed to players has witnessed a substantial rise of £11m, from £56m to £67m, reports the Mirror. This means that victorious men's and women's doubles pairs, along with winners of the new Mixed Doubles Championship, will receive £750,000 in prize money. The prize money on offer significantly surpasses that awarded at Wimbledon last month, even though the iconic tournament had boosted its own prize fund. Earlier this summer, champions Sinner and Iga Swiatek each pocketed £3m, and the 2025 Championships boasted a record overall pot of £53,500,000; still, some £13.5m shy of their US counterparts. Raducanu is hoping her recent coaching switch will ignite a strong performance in September. The British player has enlisted the services of Nadal's former coach, Roig, ahead of this month's competition. With guidance from Nadal's ex-coach, the team aims to elevate Raducanu's rankings in time to secure seeding for the final Grand Slam of 2025. Article continues below Roig comes on board just in time for Raducanu's Cincinnati Open campaign, her last warm-up before the US Open. Raducanu was most recently knocked out from the Canadian Open by Amanda Anisimova, who herself fell short in the Wimbledon final without winning a game.

Emma Raducanu to land 'biggest purse in tennis history' if she can repeat US Open triumph
British tennis No.1 Emma Raducanu will hope to capture her best form in time to repeat her stunning US Open win from four years ago with the prize money having increased significantly Emma Raducanu will rake in a whopping $5million (£3.7m) if she can win the US Open for a second time next month. The Flushing Meadows tournament has announced a record prize pot is up for grabs and will be claimed by this year's victor. Raducanu shocked the world four years ago when she went on a fairytale run to claim victory in the United States as a teenager. Now 22, the British star will hope to recapture her best form and stun the tennis world again after appointing new coach Francisc Roig, who previously aided Rafael Nadal. In 2021 Raducanu earned a cool $2.4m (£1.8m) for her big win, meaning the prize for grand slam success has more than doubled in that time. Tournament officials announced on Wednesday that the overall pot would be the 'largest purse in tennis history'. Even in the last 12 months, the prize has been dramatically bumped up. Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner, the 2024 champions, received $3.6m (£2.7m) for their efforts in New York. The overall pool of funds paid out to players has seen a significant rise of £11m from $75m (£56m) to $90m (£67m) in compensation. READ MORE: What Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz were overheard discussing after Wimbledon final That sees winning men's and women's doubles pairs, and champions from the new Mixed Doubles Championship, earning $1m (£750,000) in prize money. First-round main-draw losers will be compensated with $110,000 (£82,000). The bounty on offer is some way above the riches dished out at Wimbledon last month, despite the fact that the iconic tournament increased its own prize pool. Champions Sinner and Iga Swiatek each took home £3m earlier this summer and the 2025 Championships had a record £53,500,000 pot overall; some £13.5m short of their US counterparts. Raducanu will hope her latest coaching change can spark a good performance in September. The Brit has added Nadal's former coach, Roig, to her team in time for next month's tournament. Mark Petchey has been assisting Raducanu on a casual basis since March but has not been able to commit to a full-time position due to his media duties during the US hardcourt season. And with new coaching from Nadal's former mentor, the team will hope they can boost Raducanu's rankings in time to secure seeding for 2025's final Grand Slam of the year. Roig joins in time for Raducanu's Cincinnati Open campaign, her final tune-up before the US Open. Raducanu most recently was knocked out of the Canadian Open by Amanda Anisimova, who was defeated in the Wimbledon final without winning a game.
