Main mosques in KL to hold special prayers for Palestine
PUTRAJAYA: Three main mosques in the capital city will hold solat hajat (special prayer of needs) and recite Qunut Nazilah as a show of solidarity with Palestinians facing continued violence in Gaza. The Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) said Masjid Negara, Masjid Putra and Masjid Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin would lead the prayers, urging Muslims nationwide to join in seeking protection and justice for those affected. Jakim director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee called on Malaysians to express empathy for Palestinians, who he said endure daily attacks by the Zionist Israeli regime with 'no regard for humanity'. He said the initiative reflects Jakim's consistent support for the Madani government's stance, which upholds the sovereignty of Muslim nations and extends aid to Palestinians through various means. "We urge all Muslims to unite in prayer for the safety of our brothers and sisters in Palestine and the liberation of Al-Quds. Even a small act like this is meaningful in the sight of Allah," he said. – BERNAMA

Sultan Mizan calls for rebranding of religious education fund to bolster Islamic institutions
KUALA TERENGGANU: Sultan of Terengganu Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin has called for the rebranding of the Tabung Khairat Zainal Abidin, a religious education fund, to modernise its structure and strengthen support for Islamic institutions across the state. The Sultan noted that the fund, established in 1932, has long been a cornerstone of religious education in Terengganu. Among the institutions it has supported are Sekolah Menengah Agama Sultan Zainal Abidin (SMASZA) Ladang, Sekolah Menengah Agama (Atas) Sultan Zainal Abidin (SMAASZA) Batu Buruk and Kolej Agama Sultan Zainal Abidin (KUSZA), now Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA). 'I propose that the Khairat Zainal Abidin fund be rebranded to integrate wakaf (endowment), donations and almsgiving,' he said at the launch of the 100th anniversary of Sekolah Arab Sultan Zainal Abidin and the book Permata Darul Iman, held in conjunction with his 63rd birthday celebration. Also present were Sultanah of Terengganu, Sultanah Nur Zahirah and the Yang Di-Pertuan Muda of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan. Sultan Mizan also stressed the importance of continued cooperation between the palace, school administrators and the public in sustaining the fund's mission. His Royal Highness urged all institutions bearing the name of Sultan Zainal Abidin III to work closely together in navigating the growing challenges of modern civilisation. 'I will give particular attention to ensuring that these madrasahs are equipped with infrastructure and technology that reflect the compassionate legacy of Sultan Zainal Abidin III,' the Sultan said.

Terengganu's Sultan urges Haj pilgrims to respect Saudi laws, maintain Malaysia's reputation
KUALA TERENGGANU, May 4 — The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, has advised Haj pilgrims to uphold decorum and avoid any misconduct that could tarnish Malaysia's reputation and its diplomatic relations with Saudi Arabia. His Royal Highness emphasised the importance of adhering to Saudi laws and regulations, maintaining Malaysia's reputation as a disciplined and well-mannered Haj contingent. 'Take care of your health and personal hygiene throughout your stay in the Holy Cities of Makkah and Madinah,' he said in a message conveyed by the Yang Dipertuan Muda of Terengganu, Tengku Muhammad Ismail Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, during the Haj Pilgrims Send-Off Ceremony at Sultan Mahmud Airport last night. The Sultan also urged the 142 departing pilgrims to pray for Terengganu's continued prosperity, safety, and protection from calamities. 'Pray for our brothers and sisters nationwide facing trials, that they remain patient, and for peace to be bestowed upon fellow Muslims in Palestine and other conflict zones,' His Royal Highness added. Earlier, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar announced that 2,008 pilgrims from Terengganu would be departing via eight flights, with 495 of them having safely reached Madinah. Meanwhile, Sazli Hafizan Zahid, 27, expressed immense gratitude for the opportunity to perform Haj with his mother, Siti Hawa Ibrahim, 64. The youngest of eight siblings credited his mother's foresight in opening a savings account for him in 2009, enabling him to undertake the pilgrimage at a young age while accompanying her. 'I consider this a divine blessing. I dropped out of university to care for my ailing mother, and now Allah has granted me this chance. Alhamdulillah, my request for an earlier flight was approved, allowing me to return in time for my wife's July delivery of our first child,' he shared. — Bernama
