Mötley Crüe Postpone Las Vegas Residency as Vince Neil Undergoes ‘Medical Procedure'
Mötley Crüe won't be launching their upcoming Las Vegas residency as planned this month, with vocalist Vince Neil set to undergo an unspecified 'medical procedure.' The tour – which was originally scheduled to run for 11 shows from March 28 through April 19 – will now be taking place throughout September and early October instead. According to a statement from the band, the reason for this shift relates to Vince Neil needing to undergo a 'required medical procedure' as per doctor's orders. Your support means more than you know.' In a joint statement, Nikki Sixx, Tommy Lee and guitarist John 5 all shared their well wishes for Neil. 'Please join us in wishing Vince a speedy recovery,' they wrote. 'We are looking forward for him to get well again and to take over Vegas together in September. We can't wait to see you all out there, and thank you for your understanding and support in the meantime.' The revised tour will still take place at Dolby Live at Park MGM, albeit from Sept. 12 to Oct. 3 instead. While tickets from the original residency dates will remain valid for the new shows, the tour has now been pared down to just ten shows, with the April 19 performance having been canceled entirely. Neil's undisclosed medical procedure is the latest misfortune to affect the singer in recent weeks. On Feb. 10, a plane owned by Neil was at the center of a fatal crash in Scottsdale, AZ. Neil was not present at the time of the incident. 'At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport,' a statement from Neil's representative, Worrick Robinson IV read. 'For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil's plane were two pilots and two passengers.' The pilot killed in a plane crash involving Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil's private jet helped save Neil's girlfriend, Rain Hannah Andreani, and other passengers in his final moments, said his daughter. One person, believed to be the pilot, was killed and four others injured after Neil's plane veered off course and collided with another jet on Monday, February 10, at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona. Neil was not on board the plane, his representative said. Scottsdale police identified the slain pilot on Tuesday, February 11, as Joie Vitosky, 78, per the Arizona Republic. "I honestly, wholeheartedly believe that the reason those other passengers are alive — it's because of how he handled it yesterday," said Jana Schertzer, Vitosky's daughter, told the outlet. The incident reportedly occurred when Neil's Learjet 35A veered off the runway after landing at the Scottsdale Airport in Arizona and collided with a parked Gulfstream G-200 business jet just before 2:45 p.m. The registered owner of the plane was said to be Chromed in Hollywood, a company that Neil owns. The pilot of the plane was killed in the crash and the co-pilot was also injured. According to TMZ, Neil's girlfriend Rain and her friend Ashley were passengers on the craft and both were hospitalized, with Rain suffering five broken ribs. The women were reportedly also traveling with dogs that survived the crash. Video footage obtained by local media shows the moment Neil's plane collided with the parked jet. Airport officials said that per the results of a preliminary investigation, it appears that the left landing gear failed as the plane was landing. Runways at the airport were temporarily closed on Monday during the investigation.
