6.3-magnitude earthquake jolts off Indonesia's Aceh, no potential for tsunami
JAKARTA: An earthquake measuring 6.3 magnitude on the Richter scale rocked off Indonesia's western Aceh province earlier Tuesday (July 29) without prompting large waves, the country's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency said. The tremors occurred at 1.41am Jakarta time Tuesday (1841 GMT Monday) with the epicentre located 247km northwest of Sabang town in Aceh province and at a depth of 15km beneath the seabed. No tsunami warning was issued as the tremors were not expected to trigger large waves. The strength of the tremors was measured at II to III MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity) in the provincial capital of Banda Aceh and Aceh Besar Regency. - Xinhua

Earthquake hits area in central Kansas
DICKINSON COUNTY (KSNT) – The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) reports that an earthquake was detected Thursday in central Kansas. The USGS issued a report stating that a 3.6-magnitude earthquake was detected at around 4:30 p.m. on May 15 north-northwest of the town of Herington in Dickinson County. It registered as a IV on the Modified Mercalli Intensity (MMI) Scale meaning that some people may have felt the earthquake or noticed things shaking around the house. Kansas does experience earthquake occasionally, with some being attributed to the Humboldt fault zone, according to the Kansas Geological Survey (KGS). Powerful 6.0-magnitude earthquake strikes Indonesia's Gorontalo province, no tsunami threat but tremors felt in many areas
JAKARTA (Xinhua): A 6.0-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's Gorontalo province on Saturday evening, with no risk of triggering large waves, according to the country's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency. The quake occurred at 19:51 Jakarta time (1251 GMT), with its epicenter located 35 km northwest of Pohuwato Regency at a depth of 97 km underground. Tremors were felt at III on the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale in Gorontalo City, the provincial capital, and North Gorontalo Regency. The shaking also reached nearby provinces, including North Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, and East Kalimantan. The agency confirmed that no tsunami warning was issued, as the earthquake did not pose a threat of generating giant waves.
