MAIK Expands Digital ‘Sedekah' Access Via Collaboration With SecurePay
GENERAL KOTA BHARU, July 30 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Syarikat Securepay Sdn Bhd to develop the Sedekah e-Jariah Masjid and Sedekah Seriya Sehari digital platforms. MAIK president Tan Sri Tengku Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz said Securepay had contributed RM460,000 towards the platforms' development through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. He added that the e-Jariah Masjid system, launched on 20 February, provides a convenient platform for the public to make online donations to 621 mosques across Kelantan. 'Meanwhile, the Sedekah Seriya Sehari platform, launched this month, targets every Kelantanese, regardless of location, to contribute 'seriya' (RM1) a day,' he told reporters after witnessing the MoU signing ceremony. The MoU was signed by MAIK deputy president Datuk Mohd Anis Hussein and Securepay executive director Datuk Amir Haris Ahmad. Tengku Mohamad Rizam said that, in line with MAIK's role as a religious institution, its responsibilities should be broadened by providing the public with easy, transparent and secure means to make donations. Elaborating, he added that although the Sedekah Seriya Sehari platform involved only a small daily donation of RM1 from each individual, it could still make a significant impact on society, particularly for those in need who fall outside the asnaf (eligible tithe recipients) category. 'A daily contribution of RM1 can help ease the burdens of the less fortunate, regardless of race, ethnicity or religion. This MoU is expected to bring great benefits to the people of Kelantan and advance the digital transformation of online donations and infaq,' he said. --BERNAMA

MAIK Provides Additional Allocation Of RM2 Million To YIK This Year
KOTA BHARU, April 30 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) has channelled an additional RM2 million in financial assistance to the Kelantan Islamic Foundation (YIK) this year to support the state's Islamic education agenda. The Tengku Temenggong of Kelantan, Tengku Tan Sri Mohamad Rizam Tengku Abdul Aziz, who is MAIK president, said the additional allocation was provided in response to financial constraints faced by YIK, amid economic uncertainty and rising inflation affecting its ability to deliver quality services to students. He said MAIK had allocated RM2.5 million to YIK, covering, among other things, teachers' emoluments and related activities. 'MAIK has agreed to increase the financial allocation to YIK by another RM2 million, bringing the total assistance to RM4.5 million for this year,' he said at an event with YIK Maahad Tahfiz students here today. He said the additional financial assistance was to cover food and beverage expenses at Maahad Tahfiz YIK and Maahad Sains Tok Guru. A total of RM29 million in aid allocations have been channelled to YIK since 2014, he said, adding that MAIK also allocated funds for building repairs and the purchase of furniture for schools and hostels, with over RM18 million spent for the purpose since 2016. At the event, MAIK received contribution in the form of 'zakat wakalah' from Pelaburan Hartanah Berhad, to be channelled to eligible and needy YIK students. In another development, Tengku Mohamad Rizam said MAIK would channel appropriate assistance to victims involved in the fire in Kampung Kijang two days ago. A total of 31 victims from eight families were made homeless after eight houses were destroyed in the fire.
