Abu Dhabi, May 3: Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club continued to lead the third round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship on Saturday after competitions in the U-14 and U-16 categories took place at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi. Mohamed Salem Al-Dhaheri, vice chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: 'The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship represents a key pillar in our strategy to develop the sport, especially by focusing on younger age groups, who are the foundation of long-term sporting excellence. The championship's ranking system offers strong motivation for clubs and academies to enhance player development and achieve strong results — factors that will elevate the level of competition and expand the athlete base across the country.' Meanwhile, Mohammed Haitham, youth team coach at Al-Jazira Jiu-Jitsu Club, said: 'We prepared intensively for this round, both physically and mentally, knowing how important it is in the overall championship. The team delivered a strong and disciplined performance, executing the technical plans effectively, which boosts our chances in the final rankings.' The final day of the third round takes place on Sunday with the U-12 categories.

ABU DHABI: The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation has announced that the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship, round three for Gi competitors, will take place here from May 2 to 4 at the Mubadala Arena in Zayed Sports City. The second day will have the under-14 and under-16 competitors, and will conclude on the third day with the under-12 athletes. Mohamed Salem Al-Dhaheri, vice chairman of the UAEJJF, highlighted the successes of the championship which 'embody the vision of the wise leadership in supporting and developing the sport of jiu-jitsu.' The high levels demonstrated by the athletes 'reflects the championship's position as a leading platform for honing skills and preparing future champions. 'Since its inception, the championship, which bears a name close to our hearts, has received sizable interest from various segments of the community, reflecting the growing popularity of jiu-jitsu in Emirati society,' he added. 'The championship also represents a unique opportunity for families to encourage their sons and daughters and enjoy an exciting sporting atmosphere.' 'The tournament reflects the values of social cohesion, instils a culture of sports in society and contributes to building strong generations grounded in self-confidence, belonging and a sense of responsibility.' DUBAI: The UAE's National MMA Championship 3, organized by the UAE's Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, began on Saturday at Shabab Al-Ahli Club in Dubai in front of a large crowd, and featured young talent representing clubs and academies nationwide. Zakaria Bichi, coach of Primal Gym Abu Dhabi, said: 'We're taking part in this edition with seven athletes, and several of them have won gold medals thanks to strong preparation and serious commitment during training. We've seen how mixed martial arts in the country continues to grow every year. This is a result of the federation's ongoing commitment to organising high-level events that help shape a new generation of champions.'
