Ajman: Sheikh Zayed Street gets drainage network, new traffic lane in Dh63-million upgrade

The Department of Municipality and Planning — Ajman, in collaboration with Ajman Police, inaugurated the Sheikh Zayed Street development project in the Al Helio area, spanning 2.8 kilometers at a total cost of Dh63 million. A new traffic lane will be added, making it three lanes in each direction, alongside implementing a rainwater drainage network, installing lighting poles, and organizing sidewalks and parking spaces, according to Dr Engineer Mohammed Ahmed bin Omair Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Infrastructure Development Sector at the Department of Municipality and Planning – Ajman. He noted that the project also included the construction of two intersections equipped with traffic signals to regulate traffic movement in the area, contributing to enhanced traffic safety, especially since the project was implemented in a vibrant area with continuous traffic flow around the clock. He emphasized that the project aligns with plans for comprehensive infrastructure development, enhances traffic flow, and supports the strategic goal of improving the efficiency and quality of transportation and infrastructure projects in the emirate. Lieutenant Colonel Fouad Yousuf Al Khaja, Head of the Traffic and Patrols Department at Ajman Police, stated that the project will contribute to improving traffic flow in the Al Helio area, enhancing ease of movement and ensuring a safer and smoother driving experience for road users. Al Khaja pointed out that the project will alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the efficiency of daily mobility in the area, particularly on roads leading to Emirates Street and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Street. It is worth noting that the project was designed according to the highest international standards for intersection implementation, ensuring easier and safer access to desired destinations. The project is part of the initiatives of Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman. The project aligns with the department's efforts to improve and develop the emirate's infrastructure, in line with the objectives of Ajman Vision 2030, which aims to build an integrated and sustainable transportation system. The project reflects the commitment and dedication of the Ajman government, under the leadership of the Ruler of Ajman, and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of the Executive Council, to achieve a modern infrastructure that keeps pace with the emirate's population and urban growth requirements, contributing to enhancing the quality of life and supporting comprehensive and sustainable development across various regions.
