Shura council speaker urges action on US war crimes against civilians, migrants
Sana'a - Saba: Mohammed Hussein al-Aidaroos, Speaker of the Shura Council, has sent a letter to the Chairman of the Association of Senates and Shura Councils in Africa and the Arab World, Mohamed Ould Rashid, and to other presidents of similar councils, detailing the war crimes allegedly committed by the US aggression against the Yemeni people and migrants from the Horn of Africa. In his letter, al-Aidaroos stated that the US aggression has escalated since March 15th, directly targeting civilian areas, markets, and historic cities, resulting in hundreds of civilian casualties, primarily women and children. He specifically highlighted the targeting of an African migrant shelter in Sa'ada Governorate, which reportedly killed and wounded approximately 115 migrants. Al-Aidaroos asserted that the US actions constitute a blatant violation of Yemen's sovereignty, international and humanitarian law, UN charters, and all rules of engagement. He argued that the US administration's aggression exposes the hypocrisy of its claims regarding human rights and the self-determination of peoples. The Speaker of the Shura Council contended that the US escalated its aggression after failing to dissuade the Yemeni people from their stance supporting Palestine. He condemned the barbaric and unjustified aggression and the continued "brutal massacres" against civilians, including the migrant shelter attack. Al-Aidaroos called on the League to condemn the heinous crime against migrants, pressure international forums to form a fact-finding committee, and demand justice for the perpetrators. He urged member councils to condemn all US aggression crimes in Yemen, including the excessive force used against the migrant shelter, which was known to the ICRC and IOM. He held the US aggression legally and morally responsible for all its actions against the Yemeni people, labeling them as "war crimes against humanity," and for the consequences of the Red Sea's militarization and the threat to international peace and security. Shura speaker condemns Trump's statements on displacing Gazans
Sana'a - Saba: The main committee of the Shura Council held a meeting on Wednesday, chaired by Council Chairman Mohammed Hussein al-Aidaroos, and attended by Vice-Chairs Mohammed Al-Durra and Daif Allah Rassam. During the meeting, the committee strongly condemned the recent statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the displacement of the Palestinian people from the Gaza Strip. The committee viewed these remarks as part of an ongoing effort by the Zionist entity to forcibly displace Gaza's residents, a goal that has failed due to the steadfastness and resilience of the Palestinian people. This was demonstrated by the scenes of displaced Gazans returning to their homes, despite the destruction. The committee also denounced the Zionist entity's violation of the ceasefire agreement, which has put the lives of returning displaced persons at risk. It commended the Palestinian people for their unwavering determination in the face of Israeli aggression. Further, the committee condemned the actions of Israeli Minister of War, Israel Katz, who stormed the Jenin camp today in violation of international law. The committee viewed this as an attempt to escalate tensions in the West Bank and perpetrate further crimes against Palestinians. The committee called on the Association of Senates and Shura Councils in Africa and the Arab World to formally denounce the American statements and push for stronger international measures to protect the Palestinian people. It also urged the rejection of plans by the Zionist entity, supported by America and its allies, to liquidate the Palestinian cause. In addition to discussing these important political issues, the committee reviewed a number of topics concerning the activities of the council's permanent committees and the progress of their work under the 1446 AH plan. Decisions were made to enhance the implementation of these programs. The committee emphasized the need for council members to increase their community involvement and to strengthen unity in the face of internal and external challenges that threaten the security and stability of the homeland.
