At Least 7 Killed, Dozens Wounded in Latest Israeli Attack on Gaza's Zeitoun Neighborhood

DaysofPal – An Israeli strike on the Zeitoun neighborhood has killed at least seven Palestinians and wounded 41 others, many of them children, according to medical sources at al-Quds Hospital. Ambulances continue to transport the wounded as shelling persists in the area, the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) reported, with medical teams working tirelessly amid scarce resources to treat the growing number of casualties. This latest attack is separate from an earlier Israeli airstrike that tragically killed an entire family of eight, two parents and six children, in the same neighborhood. The family's death underscores the heavy civilian toll the conflict continues to exact. In addition to the recent strike in Zeitoun, Israeli forces carried out air raids on several other locations across Gaza on Monday. Three Palestinians were killed and others injured when a tent sheltering displaced people on Al-Lababidi Street in Gaza City was bombed. Meanwhile, in Khan Yunis, seven Palestinians lost their lives and several others were wounded in an airstrike targeting a house in the western camp. Hospitals remain overwhelmed by the influx of casualties. Al-Awda Hospital reported receiving five bodies, including a child, and 26 wounded after an attack on an aid distribution point south of Wadi Gaza. Furthermore, a Palestinian man was killed near an aid center in Al-Shakoush, northwest of Rafah. The ongoing violence has also claimed the lives of six journalists, including Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqea, whose tent near al-Shifa Hospital was directly targeted. Cameramen Ibrahim Daher and Mohammed Nofal were also among those killed. Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli military campaign, supported by the United States, has devastated Gaza. Over 61,000 Palestinians have been killed, more than 153,000 injured, and thousands remain missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and famine continues to claim lives, especially among children. Shortlink for this post:

Turkish presidency strongly condemns Israeli assassination of reporters

Ankara - Saba: The Turkish presidency "strongly" condemned the Israeli entity's assassination of two Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip on Monday, indicating that the entity aims to cover up its genocide. According to Anadolu Agency, Burhaneddin Duran, head of the Turkish presidency's communications department, expressed his deep sorrow via the X platform on Monday over Israel's killing of five journalists, including Al-Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqea, in an airstrike targeting a journalists' tent near Al-Shifa Hospital west of Gaza City. Duran said, "I pray to God to have mercy on our journalist brothers who were martyred while performing their duty, and I offer my deepest condolences to their families." He continued, "Israel targets journalists to obscure the view of its mass massacres, which it commits without discrimination between infants, children, women, the elderly, and the sick. It seeks to destroy humanity and the truth." He added, "I strongly condemn Israel's systematic targeting of journalists, which constitutes a war crime that violates international law. I also strongly condemn Israel's lawless brutality and its attempts to conceal the truth." He added, "I remember with compassion the 237 journalists killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7, 2023. Israel will not be able to conceal this genocide and will be held accountable before the law." On Sunday evening, Al-Jazeera correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqea, along with three other members of the channel's crew, were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a journalists' tent near Al-Shifa Hospital. With the martyrdom of al-Sharif and his colleagues, the number of journalists killed in the Gaza Strip has risen to 237 since the beginning of the genocide perpetrated by the Israeli entity on October 7, 2023, according to the Government Media Office in the Gaza Strip.

Who were the Al-Jazeera correspondents killed by the Israeli army in Gaza?

Al Jazeera announced on Sunday evening that two of its correspondents, Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqea, were killed by Israeli forces in a direct attack targeting a journalists' tent opposite the al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City. Anas al-Sharif was born on December 3, 1996, and lived in Jabalia Camp. He received his education at UNRWA schools and those run by the Palestinian Ministry of Education. He later enrolled at al-Aqsa University in 2014, studying radio and television. Sharif began his work as a volunteer with the Northern Media Network, then moved to work as a correspondent for Al Jazeera during the current war. He was constantly threatened by Israeli forces due to his coverage of their aggression against the Gaza Strip. On September 23, 2018, he was injured by shrapnel from a live bullet in the abdomen while covering a march east of Abu-Safiya Hill, northeast of Jabalia. On December 11, 2023, the Israeli Air Force bombed his family's home in Jabalia camp, killing his father. Journalist Mohammed Qreiqea joined Al Jazeera after working as a researcher for a human rights organization. His mother was killed in an Israeli attack during the siege of al-Shifa Medical Complex last year. Edited translation from Al-Masry Al-Youm
