Bahrain's Oil and Environment Minister Praises Petroleum Engineers' Role in Advancing National Expertise
Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Bahrain's Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, met with Eng. Abdullah Al-Zuwaidi, Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) – Bahrain Section, to discuss ongoing collaboration and support for the Kingdom's energy sector. During the meeting, the Minister commended the important role played by the society in developing national talent and providing advanced technical expertise to the oil and gas industry. He noted that the SPE's contributions are aligned with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030, and help position the Kingdom as a regional hub for knowledge and technology in the energy sector. Dr. bin Daina reaffirmed the ministry's continued support for the society's events, initiatives, and programs, which foster stronger cooperation between government institutions and professional organizations, and contribute to enhancing the efficiency and technical skills of the industry's workforce. The two sides also reviewed the society's key achievements in 2024 and discussed upcoming scientific and professional events planned for the rest of the year. For his part, Eng. Al-Zuwaidi expressed gratitude for the Minister's ongoing support, emphasizing that it plays a vital role in strengthening the society's efforts and meeting the evolving needs of Bahrain's oil and gas sector.

Bahrain to Host Global Chemical Safety Conference 'ChemSafe 2025' in October
Bahrain is set to host the International Conference and Exhibition on Chemical Safety (ChemSafe 2025) from October 27 to 30, 2025, at the Gulf Hotel. The event, held under the theme 'Industrial Chemistry for a Safe and Sustainable Future', is organized by the Bahrain Chemists Society and Al Mashriq Training, in cooperation with the Ministry of Oil and Environment. ChemSafe 2025 is expected to draw a wide range of international experts, decision-makers, and professionals working in chemical safety and industrial process safety. Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, emphasized the significance of Bahrain hosting such a major global event. He said it reflects the Kingdom's strong commitment to enhancing chemical safety standards, preventing industrial and environmental risks, and continuing the development of regulations that ensure the safe handling of chemicals. 'Through such initiatives, we aim to raise awareness, encourage knowledge-sharing, and adopt the latest technologies and safety systems to create a secure and productive industrial environment,' the Minister added. He also praised the organizing committee's efforts and the choice of Bahrain as a venue, stating that the event will help advance scientific dialogue and collaboration to meet shared goals in safety, innovation, and sustainability. He stressed the importance of continued global cooperation to keep pace with technological developments and to equip future leaders with the skills and knowledge needed for a safer tomorrow. The conference will feature discussions on a wide range of topics, including safety practices across industries such as oil, gas, chemicals, aluminum, and petrochemicals. Other focus areas include laboratory safety, emergency response, radiation and radioactive materials, health and environment, and technological innovation. Alongside the conference, a specialized exhibition will showcase the latest smart technologies and safety solutions from leading companies in Bahrain, the region, and around the world.

Oil and Environment Minister affirms commitment to empowering national cadres
His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak bin Daina, Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs, reaffirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain's commitment to empowering national competencies and enhancing their contributions across all sectors. This commitment, he emphasised, supports the goals of Bahrain's comprehensive development under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to advance the government work system. Dr. Bin Daina made these remarks during a meeting with the tenth batch of the Prime Minister's Program for Government Cadres Development. He noted that the program has become a vital contributor to government performance improvement, thanks to the skills, experience, and continued dedication of its participants. He stressed the importance of empowering young talent and involving them in the decision-making process, which strengthens public policy outcomes and infuses the government sector with innovative ideas. He further highlighted that the 'Round Table' meetings with program participants serve as an essential platform for dialogue between decision-makers and future leaders, fostering a participatory approach in policymaking and governance development. During the meeting, Dr. Bin Daina reviewed key national strategies in the oil and environmental sectors, including ongoing efforts to address climate change and implement environmental initiatives in line with Bahrain's Economic Vision 2030. Discussions also focused on future environmental policies, the role of innovation, and modern technologies in enhancing the sustainability and quality of environmental work. Members of the tenth batch expressed their appreciation to His Excellency for the insightful exchange and the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue about the Ministry's operations and future direction in the oil and environment fields.
