Cameroon joins Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition
The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition announced that Cameroon has officially joined, becoming the 43rd member state of the coalition, led by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The step underscores a growing commitment to combating terrorism and fostering regional and international security and stability, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Thursday. The announcement was made during an official ceremony at the coalition's headquarters in Riyadh, where the flag of Cameroon was raised alongside the flags of the 42 member states; a powerful symbol of unity and solidarity in the fight against terrorism. The event was attended by Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, acting secretary-general of the IMCTC, Iya Tidjani, Cameroon's ambassador to Saudi Arabia, the Cameroonian representative to the coalition, a delegation from Cameroon's embassy, and representatives of member states. Al-Moghedi welcomed Cameroon's admission to the coalition, describing it as a significant step that strengthens joint efforts to combat terrorism and enhances coordination and integration in the intellectual, media, financial, and military fields.

UN, Islamic Coalition Sign Strategic Partnership to Counter Terrorist Threats
The Secretariat General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) and the UN Counter-Terrorism Centre (UNCCT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Tuesday to strengthen their partnership in countering terrorism and preventing violent extremism conducive to terrorism. The MoU, signed at the UN headquarters in New York, aims to bolster international efforts against terrorism and promote global security and stability. The partnership was signed by Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, and Vladimir Voronkov, UN Under Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism, during a meeting. Al-Moghedi emphasized that the MoU highlights the coalition's commitment to combating terrorism and enhancing international cooperation for global security. Working with the UN will facilitate the exchange of expertise and strengthen member states' abilities to address security challenges effectively, he added. The MoU outlines strategic cooperation in areas such as specialized law enforcement training and tailored technical assistance to member states. It also focuses on organizing capacity-building training programs, exploring best practices, as well as organizing meetings, joint projects and activities on issues of common interest.
