Photo: X RIYADH: India and Saudi Arabia have agreed to significantly deepen cooperation in technology and tourism, highlighting new areas of partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's state visit to the Kingdom on April 22, 2025. Both sides identified emerging technologies, digital governance, and sustainable tourism as key drivers of future bilateral engagement, an official press release by the ministry of external affairs (MEA) stated. Emphasising the strategic importance of technological collaboration, the two nations agreed to work closely in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, semiconductors, and other advanced sectors. The leaders underlined the transformative role of digital governance and committed to exploring joint initiatives in this domain. As a major step forward, both sides welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and the Communications, Space and Technology Commission of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi government welcomed on Tuesday the growing international support for the upcoming international conference on the peaceful resolution of the Palestinian cause and the implementation of the two-state solution, which will be co-chaired by Saudi Arabia and France. Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired the cabinet meeting that was held in Jeddah. The cabinet also stressed the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza and the delivery of humanitarian aid. The ministers reviewed Saudi Arabia's latest talks and consultations with brotherly and friendly countries on regional and international developments, prospects for cooperation, and ways to strengthen ties across various sectors. They reiterated the Kingdom's active role in supporting international security and stability, as well as its efforts to alleviate humanitarian suffering. The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom's comprehensive economic, cultural, and social development efforts, along with completed plans and programs aimed at advancing national progress and benefiting citizens. The HCI conference is held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of HCDP, on April 13 – 14 2025 in the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center under the theme of #BeyondReadiness The closed-door ministerial roundtable meeting focused on "AI Literacy for All: Promoting Equitable Access for Resilient Capabilities" and engaged 20 ministers from around the world, as well as local and global experts in education and technology, including representatives from the Saudi Education and Training Evaluation Commission, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the World Bank, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The roundtable explored the critical need for integrating digital skills as a cornerstone of human capability development and examined AI literacy's central role in ensuring individuals can thrive in an AI-driven economy. The meeting also highlighted the need to establish inclusive strategies that promote digital education, and the importance of integrating AI skills into curricula and strengthening international collaboration to discover scalable solutions that can provide equitable access to AI tools and digital training worldwide.
