AFTAAC Organises Meetings to Enhance Arab-African Cooperation

Mohamed Mandour ​In the context of the 59th session of the Board of Directors of the Arab Fund for Technical Assistance to African Countries (AFTAAC), convened in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, alongside the 34th Arab Summit, Ambassador Mohannad Saleh Lajouzi, Assistant Secretary-General of the League of Arab States and Director-General of the Fund, conducted a series of official meetings with Aoun Diab Abdullah, Minister of Water Resources of the Republic of Iraq, and Dr. Mahdi Sahar Al-Jubouri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, at the respective headquarters of both ministries in Baghdad. During these high-level engagements, Ambassador Lajouzi extended his sincere appreciation for the warm reception and gracious hospitality, conveying the greetings of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States. He commended the enduring support of the sisterly Republic of Iraq for the Arab Fund as one of the pivotal institutions of joint Arab action. The Ambassador also delivered an in-depth briefing on the Fund's mission and ongoing activities, outlining prospects for collaboration with the two ministries in areas pertinent to human development on the African continent—particularly in the fields of agriculture and water resources. He further expressed his keen interest in deepening cooperative ties with the Iraqi government in these vital sectors. In response, the Iraqi officials affirmed Iraq's firm commitment to supporting the Fund's endeavours and participating in the implementation of programmes designed to build the capacities of African professionals, thereby reinforcing the principles of Arab-African solidarity.
