RM1.44 million worth of contraband, seized case items disposed of by cops
SUBANG JAYA: Police here have disposed of RM1.44 million worth of contraband cigarettes, alcohol, online gambling equipment and illegal cryptocurrency mining machines. District deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the case items were disposed of at a ceremony at the police headquarters today. "The items marked for disposal involved case items from a range of operations, including illegal gambling, entertainment centre raids, illegal cryptocurrency mining, contraband goods (including untaxed alcohol and cigarettes) and pirated media. "The disposal process adhered strictly to the guidelines under the Inspector-General of Police Standing Order (PTKPN D207) and legal provisions under Sections 406A and 407A of the Criminal Procedure Code," he told reporters today. He said the seized items, accumulated between 2004 and 2024, were authorised for destruction following legal prosecution and court approval. "In total, we disposed of gambling equipment involving 548 sets of computers, laptops, and mobile phones valued at RM582,400, contraband goods involving 650 cans and 502 bottles of alcoholic beverages, and 293 cartons of untaxed cigarettes of various brands, with a total estimated value of RM362,911. "We also destroyed 635 cryptocurrency mining machines worth RM286,200.00 and pirated media and electronic devices involving 29,307 VCDs/DVDs, five mobile phones, and four laptops worth RM214,149.00," he said, adding that the total value of the items disposed of was estimated to be worth RM1.44 million. The event was witnessed by Shah Alam magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali and Deputy Selangor Police Chief Deputy Commissioner Mohd Zaini Abu Hassan. Fairus said the items were tied to 635 investigation papers, which were opened between 2004 and last year. He said the items which were destroyed with a backhoe machine during the ceremony would be disposed of through environmentally responsible methods, including e-waste recycling. "We urge the public to refrain from engaging in criminal activities such as contraband trade, illegal gambling and unauthorised electricity usage for cryptocurrency mining. These acts are offences under the law. "The public is encouraged to report any suspicious or illegal activities by contacting the Subang Jaya district police headquarters at 03-7862 7222," he said.

Three held over Puchong home attack
SUBANG: The man, who is suspected of attacking his ex-wife's boyfriend in Puchong has been detained, along with his two accomplices. Subang Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the three suspects were nabbed at USJ9, Subang Jaya at about 3pm yesterday. 'All three of them had prior criminal records. 'They will be remanded on Monday,' he said. The police have already recorded the statements of three individuals. It was reported that the 47-year-old victim was seriously injured after he was allegedly attacked by his girlfriend's ex-husband and two accomplices in Puchong. Supt Mohd Fairus had said the incident occurred at about 2.15am on Saturday (May 24) at an apartment in Taman Puchong Intan. 'We received a call from a woman who reported an attack on her boyfriend at her residence. 'Initial investigations indicate that the victim and the woman are living together. 'The ex-husband and two other men, in their 30s and 40s, came to the house before assaulting the victim using a knife and an iron rod,' he said. The victim suffered various injuries to his head and body, he said. We believe the motive behind the attack was jealousy and unresolved domestic issues between the woman and her former spouse,' he added. Supt Mohd Fairus said the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons, which carries a penalty of up to 20 years imprisonment, a fine, or whipping upon conviction.

Police arrest trio after man slashed in jealousy-fuelled attack
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men in connection with the assault and slashing of a 47-year-old man at an apartment in Taman Puchong Intan yesterday morning. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the trio had prior criminal records and admitted to being involved in the case. "All suspects have been arrested, and a remand application will be made at the Shah Alam court tomorrow for further investigation," he said in a statement today. Yesterday, Fairus said police received a distress call from a woman at 2.15am, reporting that her partner had been attacked by her ex-husband and two other men. Fairus said the motive for the attack is believed to be jealousy and domestic issues. The ex-husband and two male friends allegedly went to the residence and attacked the victim with a knife and an iron rod, causing multiple injuries to his head and body. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons. If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or whipping.

One suspect in Taman Puchong assault has criminal record
KUALA LUMPUR: One of the three men suspected of attacking and slashing a man at an apartment in Taman Puchong, Subang Jaya yesterday has a prior criminal record. Subang Jaya deputy police chief Supt Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the suspect with the record is the ex-husband of the victim's girlfriend. 'Efforts to trace all three suspects are ongoing. So far, police have recorded statements from three individuals, including the victim's girlfriend,' he said in a statement today. Yesterday it was reported that the victim's girlfriend informed police that her 47-year-old partner was assaulted and slashed on the head and body by her former husband and two other men at about 2.15am. The incident is believed to be linked to domestic issues and jealousy. Police are currently tracking down three local men, aged between 30 and 40. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
