Police arrest trio after man slashed in jealousy-fuelled attack
KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men in connection with the assault and slashing of a 47-year-old man at an apartment in Taman Puchong Intan yesterday morning.
Subang Jaya deputy police chief Superintendent Mohd Fairus Jaafar said the trio had prior criminal records and admitted to being involved in the case.
"All suspects have been arrested, and a remand application will be made at the Shah Alam court tomorrow for further investigation," he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Fairus said police received a distress call from a woman at 2.15am, reporting that her partner had been attacked by her ex-husband and two other men.
Fairus said the motive for the attack is believed to be jealousy and domestic issues.
The ex-husband and two male friends allegedly went to the residence and attacked the victim with a knife and an iron rod, causing multiple injuries to his head and body.
The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with dangerous weapons.
If convicted, the suspects face up to 20 years in prison, a fine, or whipping.
