Remand extended for suspect in Bachok acid attack
BACHOK: The remand order for a 38-year-old woman suspected of splashing acid on a spa owner in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, has been extended by four days, from Tuesday (May 27) until Friday. The extension was granted by magistrate Mohd Fauzan Mohd Suhairi at the Bachok Magistrates' Court Monday to facilitate investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code. Earlier, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that the suspect, a rubber factory employee, was arrested in front of the premises at 4pm on May 21 and initially remanded for five days. Another suspect, a 45-year-old man, has also been arrested in connection with the incident and is currently under a seven-day remand order until Thursday. On May 17, the spa owner was reportedly doused with a liquid believed to be acid by an unidentified individual near a convenience store in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok. The victim, who sustained severe burns to her shoulder, back, arms and legs, is reported to be in stable condition at the Burn Unit of Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian. - Bernama

BACHOK, May 26 (Bernama) -- The remand order for a 38-year-old woman suspected of an acid attack on a spa owner in Beris Kubur Besar, Bachok, has been extended by four days, from tomorrow until May 30. The extension was granted by Magistrate Mohd Fauzan Mohd Suhairi at the Bachok Magistrates' Court today to facilitate investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code. Earlier, Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat stated that the suspect, a rubber factory employee, was arrested in front of the premises at 4 pm on May 21 and initially remanded for five days.

Bachok acid attack: Motive still unknown, say police
KOTA BARU: Police are continuing investigations to determine the main motive behind the acid attack involving a spa operator in Bachok last Saturday. District police chief, Superintendent Mohamad Ismail Jamaluddin, said the cause of the incident remains unknown. "We have shown the victim photographs of the suspect who was arrested. However, the victim said she does not recognise the female suspect, who is also an employee at the same factory. "The investigation is ongoing to uncover the true cause, whether it involves jealousy, revenge, debt, or other factors. "The victim's condition is improving, and she is currently receiving treatment at the Universiti Sains Malaysia Specialist Hospital (HUSM)," he said. Yesterday, the 38-year-old suspect was arrested in front of a rubber factory in Kuala Krai at 4pm. She has been remanded for five days. The remand order was issued by Magistrate Mohd Fauzan Mohd Suhairi. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code. In the incident last Saturday, spa operator Nor Faziera Muda, 27, underwent a six-hour surgery after being splashed with acid by three individuals.

Woman remanded over acid attack on spa owner
BACHOK: A woman suspected of involvement in an acid attack on a spa owner in Beris Kubur Besar last Saturday has been remanded for five days, starting today. The remand order was granted by Magistrate Mohd Fauzan Mohd Suhairi following a police application. The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous substance. The offence carries a maximum sentence of 20 years imprisonment, whipping, or a fine. Earlier, the 38-year-old suspect, dressed in a dark blue outfit, wearing a headscarf and a half-face mask, arrived at the court at 9.17 am, escorted by police personnel. In the incident, an unknown individual splashed an acid-like liquid on a female business owner near a convenience store in Beris Kubur Besar, Tawang, Bachok. The victim sustained severe burns to her shoulder, back, arms and legs. She is currently in stable condition and receiving treatment at the Burn Unit, Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian.

Factory worker remanded over acid attack on spa operator in Bachok
BACHOK: A factory worker arrested in connection with the acid attack on a spa operator in Beris Kubur Besar here on Saturday has been remanded for five days starting today. The remand order, until May 26, was issued by magistrate Mohd Fauzan Mohd Suhairi to assist investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code. The 38-year-old woman was seen arriving at the Bachok magistrate's court at around 9.20am, escorted by police. She was wearing a blue headscarf and top, along with black track pants. Earlier, Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat said the woman was arrested in front of a rubber factory in Kuala Krai at around 4om yesterday. The arrest was made by the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Kelantan police headquarters, together with the Criminal Investigation Department of the Bachok district police headquarters. In the incident last Saturday, spa operator Nor Faziera Muda, 27, had to undergo a six-hour surgery after being splashed with acid by three individuals. The victim was at the salon with her young son when she was allegedly assaulted by two women and a man at 7.20pm. She sustained burns to her right hand and legs, and is receiving treatment at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian. Her condition is reported to be stable.
